Safety

The norm CEI 61010-1 indicates that in case of devices connected to an electrical plug, this plug must be installed near the device and easily accessible. The supply cord acts as cutting device. For the equipment permanently connected to the network, an easily accessible cutting device must be included to the fixed installation. The connection to the protection ground is made via the power supply cable. The mains tension must not fluctuate of more than 10% of its nominal tension. The connection to the mains supply and the type of cord must comply with the safety regulations of the country in which the equipment is set up. If it is not the case, please contact your PRECIA-MOLEN agency. Any non conventional use of the device might cause damage and represent a danger to the user. Any damage due to non respected safety instructions will not be attributed to the manufacturer.



Electromagnetic compatibility

This equipment has been tested and declared compliant with the limits of the class A digital device limits, according to the European regulations, Section 15 of FCC rules (US Federal Communication Commission) and Canadian ICES-003 rules. These limits aim at offering sufficient protection against interferences when the device is used in a trade environment. If the device is used in a residential area, it may cause interferences and in these circumstances, the user will have to correct the situation at their own expenses.



Maintenance

The indicator must not be electrically supplied for maintenance and cleaning operations and when the housing is open. Never use any solvent or abrasive product for cleaning. Only components accredited by PRECIA-MOLEN can be used to replace default components to grant the proper operation of the device. In most cases, repair operations are likely to create hazardous situations. Such operations must be carried out by PRECIA MOLEN services or an accredited distributor.

Introduction 

Purpose of this manual The I 410 system comprises a complete weighing system using a CAN field bus - CAN Open Protocol. It contains the following sub-assemblies: • a Graphic Terminal, • One or more transmitters, • possibly a field bus coupler for the CAN bus interface with the client bus.

The purpose of this document is to provide all information necessary to install the I 410 Graphic Terminal. How the Terminal is used depends directly on the application (standard or special) and is not described in this document.

Claviers



Description

The keyboard of the I 410 Graphic Terminal is made up of the following keys: • F1 to F10 (1) to the left and right of the screen: the function of each key is defined by its associated display on the screen. • SF1 to SF4 (2) located under the screen: the function of each key is defined by its associated display on the screen. • the (3) key* allows selecting special characters in entry mode (on several screens). • the (4) key allows switching between Upper/Lower case (defined by a "black dot" as a symbol to the bottom left of the screen). • the validation key (5) in configuration/adjustment mode will be notified = to ease the understanding of procedures ; • 2 keys F, G (6 and 7) the function of which in use mode is defined by the application**. • the H key (8) that gives access to the metrological screen from the running application. • the I key (9) that gives access to the work level management and the adjustment of contrast and luminosity from the running application.

The display of ???22F333??? shows that the transmitter has not been connected to the terminal (see page page 39). For Trade Use only dependent upon the application. When the Data Storage Device option is installed and used. This meter is incremented when a metrological parameter is changed. In Trade Use, this meter No. must be mentioned in the metrological log.

Physical installation



Stainless steel housing version

The STAINLESS STEEL casing version of the I 400 Graphic Terminal is delivered with an adjustable fixing kit for wall mounting or table mounting. • Fix the bracket to the work station. The following drawing specifies the overall dimensions for this operation. Use dowels and screws suited to the material.

• Position the lateral rotation spigots (1) and the fixing inserts (2) of the case (3) in their housing on the bracket (4). • Move the case as necessary and tighten the two fixing buttons (5).

Panel mounting version

Cutting out the front panel Cut out and drill the front panel of the cabinet using the following dimensions

max thickness: 6 mm

Mounting • Put the seal (1) into position into the attachment inserts (2) behind the terminal (3). • Put the assembly into place in front of the cabinet (4). • Tighten the 10 Ø4 x 7 screws (5) for 0.5 to 3 mm sheet, (or Ø4 x 10 screw for 3 to 6 mm sheet), • Tighten the M3 X 10 (6) 4 screw / washer sets. Once all installation operations are complete and if required, clear the cable running zones (C) on the upper (6) and lower (7) covers. Fit the upper (6) and lower (7) covers onto the frame (8) and tighten the 2 fastening screw/ washer sets (9) on both sides of each cover..

Installing options & accessories



Measurement interface board

The measurement interface board (1) is located on 4 spacers (2) fitted to its connector (3) located above the main board (4). It is fastened with 4 screw/washer sets (5).

Summation board

The summation interface board (1) is located on the support sheet (2). It is fixed with 4 M3 x 6 screws(3). The sheet is then fixed onto the platform with 2 M4 nuts/washers (4) for the stainless steel version and 2 4 x 7 screws(4) for the tabletop or panel-mounted versions.

 Set the ribbon cable on the connector of the CPU (5) board. Match the "1" of the ribbon cable (coloured mark) with the "1" of the connector. Caution with the mounting direction!

Accessories

The I 410 Graphic Terminal allows implementing 6 accessories. There are 2 different types of accessories: • communication accessories: - RS 232 serial link (orange label), - RS 232 SPI serial link (orange label), - RS 485/422 serial link (yellow label), - USB serial link (grey label), - USB key link (grey label). • interface accessories: - 2 digital inputs / 4 digital outputs (brown label), - 1 4 - 20 mA or 0-10 V analog input / 2 analog outputs (red label).

 The connection board accepts all types of modules in slots L1, L2, L3 and L4 and only interface and RS232 SPI* accessories in slots L5 and L6. Accessories** are generally equipped with 8 spring terminal connectors. The accessories for the panelmounted version can be fitted with 8 DIN male spring terminal connectors.

Cabling



Recommendations

Cables by metre For the connection of spring terminals, PRECIA MOLEN recommends the use of 8-strand sheathed cable (0,34 mm²) reference 4005271 (sold by linear metre) associated with a clearance of 16 terminal cabling ends for up to 1 mm² of cable section. PRECIA-MOLEN also offer a cable prefitted with 8 DIN 8 pt connectors available in many lengths. This cable allows to connect all peripherals & modules using the specific adapter (please call). Other cables are also available for DIN or USB connectors (please call). Preparation of the cable at the terminal end

Principle for laying cables

Stainless steel housing version Most external connecting cables are connected through glands that also assure shielding continuity. Only the keyboard connection and the USB connection options are connected through special connectors that assure shielding continuity directly.

• Put the body of the gland (1) into position with its O-ring (2) on the wall of the casing (3) and tighten the nut (4) inside the casing. • Pass the cable through the cap (5), of the sealing ring (6) and the claws of the ring (7) installed in the body of the gland, making sure that the ground braid (8) is in good contact with the claws. • Tighten the cap (5) onto the body of the gland (1).

Tabletop terminal version • Unscrew the 6 screws (1) under the housing. • Fasten the cable clamp(s) (2) onto the platform flat angle (3), for the accessories and electronic boards, located onto the upper part. • Fasten the cable clamp(s) directly onto the support sheet (4), for the accessories located onto the lower part. • Set up the seal(s) (5) onto the closing sheet (6). Previously remove the precut cable clamps (7).

Except the power supply, all optional interface elements which may be fitted to the I 410 Graphic Terminal are fitted on the Connector board. In standard, it is fitted only with the CAN bus interface. 1.

Category of cables: Each RJ45 cable is allocated to a category defining the maximum rate it is able to transmit without error. Example: The twisted Ethernet cable (ref: 4006336), lg: 2m is category 'CAT 5E' (100 Mbps in twisted pair: 100baseTX 155 Mbps ATM).



Summary

For wiring over the corporate network, use the 'straight' RJ45 cabled. For direct wiring on PC (peer to peer), use the crossed Ethernet cable (ref: 4006336), lg: 2m.

Introduction



General description

The I 410 Graphic Terminal has two main configuration menus as follows: • the Terminal configuration menu itself, • the configuration menu of the Transmitters that are associated with it.



General principles in configuration mode

Example screen presentation In configuration mode, the display screens are composed of four distinct zones:

Principle for defining a multiple choice parameter

All values available for the parameter concerned (e.g. UNIT) are displayed in the main dialog area and are preceded by a number (e.g. n° 1 for the KILOGRAMME unit). The current value of the parameter is shown in inverse video. To select a value, press the key facing the associated number on the side of the screen (e.g. F3 - 2 key).

Principle for entering a digital parameter When a numeric parameter has to be input, the F1 to F10 and SF1 to SF4 keys are defined as follows: • keys F1 to F10 are used to obtain numbers from 0 to 9, • the E key abandons the input without validating, • The . key inputs the decimal point, • The B key erases the last input character. • The = key validates the parameter.

The E, ., B and = keys have the same meaning. The S key returns to the previous entry field. When a preselection is made (e.g. $ key), the meaning of the F1 to F10 keys is modified. The E key then returns to the previous screen. The = key validates the parameter.

Entering special parameters with an alphanumeric keyboard In entry mode, pressing the " -->" key gives access to special characters on various screens. Using the side keys, select the wanted character.

Adjusting the luminosity / contrast From the metrological screen or the application: The adjustment of luminosity and contrast can be accessed by pressing on the I key then on the F8 (1) key.

The adjustment is performed directly by pressing on the side keys (F2; F6; F4; F8). The F8 (1) key causes a reset at 50%of both parameters.

Access to the work level management menu Press the I key. The work level selection menu is displayed. The current level is displayed in inverse video. When you have finished your operations, press the I key again to return to the current application.



Changing the work level When the select work level main menu is displayed, press the key corresponding to the required level (e.g. 2 SUPERVISOR). The password request is displayed(i).

Input the password on 5 digits(ii) and then press the =(iii) key to validate. The new current level is displayed in inverse video.

(i) If the user level (level 0) is selected, no password request is displayed. (ii) All passwords are defined to be equal to "00000" when the unit leaves the factory. (iii) In case of incorrect password, the temporary message PASSWORD ERROR is displayed. At the third fruitless attempt, the intervention level remains unchanged.

Changing the password When the select work level main menu is displayed, select item 4 - PASS WORD . The 3 levels with which a password is associated are displayed.

Please note this code without quitting password management. This code is mandatory and allows your installer or our Aftersales Service (08 92 69 01 57) to supply a code. This code will be valid until the terminal is switched off. The ENGINEER level access code is not changed.

LANGUAGE item The LANGUAGE item is used to backup or the download texts related to metrological functions (metrological screen and items in the setting/configuration menu): • Backup the I 400 to a USB key (È). • Load application from the USB key to the I 400 (É). Use the > key to display the content of the plugged in USB key.

 The transfer operations from the USB key require confirming the operation request. Once the operation completed, the operation report is displayed opposite the name of the operation chosen in the menu: YES (operation correct) or NO (operation incorrect).



DATE AND TIME item The DATE AND TIME item is used to set the Terminal time. • Input and validate the day, month and year, and the hour, minutes and seconds in sequence. • When the last parameter has been validated, the CONFIGURATION menu is displayed again.



KEYBOARD section The KEYBOARD section is used to select the type of keyboard to connect to the Terminal: • AZERTY keyboard (È). • QWERTY keyboard (Í). • Cyrillic keyboard (1).

ACCESSORIES item The ACCESSORIES item allows controlling the different modules installed in the terminal. The type of module detected is displayed opposite each slot number. For checking an accessory, press the key corresponding to the required slot.

Serial link accessory (RS 232, RS 485, USB) As soon as a module of the serial link type is selected, the following screen is displayed. The parameters accessible are: • (È): Entry of communication parameters un the format " speed, number of data bits, parity(i), number of stop bits, RTS(ii), CTSii " . • (Ê): Input the character string to be sent. The following operations are possible: • In receipt of a message (F5). • Send the configured message (F9). • Return to the previous screen (F10). (i) N: No parity (None) - O: Odd parity (Odd) - E: Even parity (Even) - M: Force to 1 - S: Force to 0. (ii) 0: no RTS, CTS; 1: RTS, CTS present.

 For F5 function, the reception message will be displayed if no message received.

Control of a USB memory peripheral As soon as a USB memory type accessory is selected, the list of files contained in the plugged in USB key is displayed. If the USB key contains a large number of files, use the SF4 key to display the remainder of the list.

This screen will not be displayed if the installed key is defective or it there is no USB key.

Checking a 4-20 mA analog output accessory As soon as a 4-20 mA analog output type accessory is selected, the following screen is displayed. This item is used to test the physical link. Input a value of between 0 (for 0 mA) to 65535 (for 20 mA), validate and check the result at the output from the accessory. When the check is finished, press the E key to return to the main menu. Checking a digital I/O accessory As soon as a digital I/O type accessory is selected, the following screen is displayed. This function simulates operation of outputs S1 to S4 (selected by F1 to F4) and close (SF1) or open (SF4) and displays the state of the input contacts. When the check is finished, return to the main menu by pressing the e key (F10).

 Press the F8 key to output the V+ power supply if the client application uses high digital inputs with power supply provided through the I 400 terminal (see pagepage 25).

Checking a 4-20 mA / 0-10 V digital 1I/2O accessory From the moment we select a 4-20 mA / 0-10 V digital I/ O type accessory, the following screen is displayed. This section allows testing the 2 S1 and S2 outputs. Select one of these two outputs to test by using the F3 or F8 keys.

Enter a value between 0 (for 0 mA) and 65535 (for 20 mA), validate and check the accessory output result. The input value is directly displayed. Once the check completed, return to the previous menu by pressing on the E key.

Case of summation - Adjustment menu

This channel allows for the summation of up to 4 physical measurement channels. Warning The summation channel is a channel in itself. It is therefore required to proceed as with any typical channel (identification, adjustment, calibration, installation). Only the zero linearisation will be possible in adjustment mode.

After selecting the summation channel (E.g.: CAN address = 2) In the adjustment menu:

The channels A, B, C or D have to be allocated, the transmitter number (CAN address) corresponding to the physical channel to be taken into account for the summation In this example, only the 2 channels A and B will be summed.

Calibration



Presentation of the ADJUSTMENT menu When the function is selected in the main menu, the adjacent screen is displayed. These items are used for metrological calibration of the instrument.



OFFSET item

After calibration and disassembly of mass deposit accessories, this item is used to correct the real zero of the instrument, particularly for hoppers. As soon as the OFFSET item in the CALIBRATION menu is selected, the confirm take offset request is displayed. Check that the load receptor is empty and press the

The instrument returns to its initial zero and the CALIBRATION menu is displayed again.

Linearization 2 (optional) is used to perform 'descending' linearization or dynamic linearization in DCKW mode. Select the ZERO function. The zero taking confirmation request is displayed. Check that the load receptor is empty and press the =. The instrument accepts its initial zero and the LINEARIZATION sub-menu is displayed again. Select the No. of SEGMENTS function. The request of number of segments to use for linearization is viewed. Enter this value (1 to 6) and press the = key. The LINEARIZATION sub-menu is displayed again. Select the SEGMENT function 1. The request for the value of the test weight used is displayed. Input this value and validate by pressing the = key. The request for placing the test weight is displayed. Put the test weight into place and validate by pressing the = key. After the new value has been accepted, the LINEARIZATION menu is displayed again.

If there is more than one adjustment segment, items Ë to Ð are assigned to segments 2 to 6. The procedure is then exactly the same as the procedure for linearization of segment 1 described above.

 WARNING Values of calibration weights must be consistent. In particular: • the value must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to MAX, • the calibration value of segment N+1 must be greater than the calibration value defined for segment N.

VERIFICATION item

 This item is no longer accessible when a LINEARIZATION procedure has just been performed. You must then return to the metrological screen (data backup) and return to the ADJUSTMENT item so that it is accessible again. This item is used to verify the calibration of the instrument by depositing a weight on the load receptor. Once checking is complete, press the E key; the ADJUST menu is displayed again.



DEFAULT PARAM. Upon validating the DEFAULT PARAM in the ADJUST menu, the confirmation request is displayed. This function reinitializes the parameters to their default value (factory values). If confirmed, you will need to repeat the instrument calibration procedure.



Return to the main menu

Once all operations complete, finish by pressing the E key. The main terminal configuration menu is displayed again.

MESUREMENT item

MESUREMENT menu presentation The INSTALLATION-MEASUREMENT menu contains items related to the behaviour of specific devices associated with the measurement function.

User zero item As soon as this item is validated in the MESUREMENT menu, the request for the action limit of the user zero device is displayed. Input a new value (% MAX) if you want and validate by pressing the =key. The MEASUREMENT menu is displayed again.

 Caution, this value is limited to 2 % for Trade Use.

Zero tracking item As soon as this item in the MESUREMENT menu is displayed, the request to choose the operating mode of the zero tracking device is displayed. The 3 available modes are: • inactive, • active only when the displayed weight is a gross weight, • active in all cases. Press the key corresponding to the required operation or abort the procedure. The MEASUREMENT menu is displayed again.

Automatic zero item This device enables an automatic reset to zero of the weight display after a weighing operation and when the load receptor is unloaded. As soon as this item is validated in the WEIGHING menu, the operating mode request required is displayed. The options are: • inactive, • active. Select the required function mode (active or inactive) or abort the procedure. If the ACTIVE mode has been selected, the duration after which the zero must be taken is displayed. If required enter the new value (0 to 9 999 seconds) and validate by pressing the = key. The MEASUREMENT menu is displayed again. Initial zero item The initial zero device automatically resets the instrument to zero when it is switched on, within a defined allowable weight range. As soon as this item in the MESUREMENT menu is validated, the adjacent screen is displayed. Input the low limit for initial reset of the instrument to zero (in % MAX) and validate by pressing the =key. Input the high limit(i) for initial reset of the instrument to zero (in % MAX) and validate by pressing the =key. The MEASUREMENT menu is displayed again.

 Creep clorrection directly influences the weighing results. As soon as this item is validated in the WEIGHING menu, the operating mode request is displayed. Creep correction corrects "slow" load cell drift. The options are: • È inactive, • Í active. Select the required function mode (active or inactive) or abort the procedure. Filter item If you want to modify the filter code, select item È. Input the filter code (1 to 9) as a function of the data given in the following table. Validate by pressing the = key. The new filtering code is taken into consideration.

Autonomous item Select the autonomous mode or not. Allows for a transmitter to be directly accessible on the CAN network, without being associated to a terminal. Mainly used for the 4-20 mA output and/or monitoring by PLC.

Select the unit required or abort by pressing the E key. The flow rate unit is the weight unit (kg or g) / time unit (hour, minute or second). The FLOWRATE item is displayed again.

TEST sub-menu Upon validation, the TEST sub-menu is displayed. It allows testing the following elements: • digital inputs/outputs, • the 4 - 20 mA analog output. Select the element to be tested or press the E key to abandon.

Digital I/O As soon as the ANA I/O accessory is selected, the following screen is displayed.

This function is used to display the state of input contacts E1 to E6 (1).

This function also simulates the operation of outputs S1 to S6; proceed as follows: • select the contact to be tested (keys F1 to F6), • choose the status of the contact: ON (SF1) or OFF (SF4). The state of the contact is displayed (2). When the check is finished, return to the main menu by pressing the e key (F10).

ANA output As soon as the ANA OUTPUT accessory is selected, the following screen is displayed. This item is used to test the physical link. Input a value (0 to 20 mA), validate and verify the result at the output from the accessory. When the check is finished, press the E key to return to the main menu.



Return to the metrological screen

Press the E key when the Terminal main configuration menu is displayed to return to the metrological screen.
