TM223FH

FOREWORD 1. This manual has been edited as a service update for the TM223FH tractor. Consequently, please use this manual referring to the service manual available for the TM215F & TM217F. 2. The TM223FH, which features the HST, 4WD, and power-assisted steering system, is constructually different from the previous models in the following points: a. b. c. d.

The engine has bee modified. The main clutch has been eliminated. An independent PTO has newly been added, and The rear PTO has been changed to a single speed type.

Servicing procedures outlined in both manuals contain sufficient information to return all component parts of a tractor to new condition. In discussion of each component part, it is assumed that a complete overhaul is being performed, consequently, complete disassembly and reassembly are outlined. The mechanic is relied upon to decide how far disassembly must be carried out when complete overhaul is not required. Study unfamiliar service procedures thoroughly and understand them clearly before attempting disassembly. Specific data essential for proper overhaul, such as running clearances and torque values, have been provided in interline of inspection and reassembly procedures of each group section. This manual was compiled from latest information available at time of publication. However ISEKI reserves the right to make changes at any time without notice. Whenever the terms “left” and “right” are used, this means as viewed by the operator when seated in the operator’s seat. Whenever servicing the tractors, pay sufficient attention to operational safety to protect you and other persons around the machines from danger by following carefully the instructions given in both manuals. Never take chances!

(14) Extract bevel pinion (13), collar (19), and snap-ring (20). (15) Remove rear transmission case (3) and hydraulics case. (16) Extrant PTO shaft (9) and PTO clutch assembly (21) at the same time. (17) Then proceed removing shafts, gears, collars, etc. 3.2. INSPECTION (1) Check each gear and shaft for damage, tooth bearing, etc. (2) Make sure that all radial roller bearings and needle roller barings turn smoothly and have no flaws. (3) Make sure that the oil seal lips and lip contact surfaces on shafts have no flaws. 3.3. PRECAUTIONS FOR REASSEMBLY (1) When assembling, pay attention to the installing direction of the gears, collars, etc. Never forget to install bearings and collars. (2) Before installing the PTO drive shaft, set the PTO change gear to the shifter. (3) After assembly, make sure that each shift lever moves smoothly. Operating load at lever top 4WD shift lever

ISEKI TRACTOR TM223 SERVICE UPDATE 3.2. FUNCTION (1) Pressurized fluid is continuously supplied through port T2 to the PTO clutch and the PTO discs are always immersed in circulation fluid. (During operation the poppet of the relief section of the hydraulic valve is set in the “floating” position.)

(4) Remove snap-ring (ø88 for hole) (31), and take out back-up plate (30), disc plates (28), and seperator plates (29).

(2) When the PTO swich is turned on, pressurized fluid delivered through port C activates the piston (26) to force separator plates (29) to come into contact with disc plates (28). Thus power is transmitted from PTO shaft (20) to gear (16). (3) When the PTO switch is tunred off, pressurized fluied drains through port T1. At the same time, piston (26) of the PTO clutch is pushed back by means of spring (32) and the separator plates and disc plates separate from each other to cease power transmission and pressure plates (23 & 24) come into contact with brake plate (23) to stop gear (16). (The gear should be stopped in about 7 seconds after the PTO switch is turned off.)

Fig. 5-4

While holding return spring (32) compressed with a special tool, remove snap-ring (34). 32 34

3.3. DISASSEMBLY Note: Disassembly of the PTO clutch assembly should be done in a clean, dust-free place. Excercise special attention to avoid damge of the seal rings, etc. (1) Extract the following parts from the rear part of the PTO shaft in the listed order: Fig. 5-5

a. b. c. d. e. f.

(2) Remove the PTO clutch assembly rearward along with gear (33T) (11). (3) Remove gear (33T) (11) and bushing (14) from the PTO clutch assembly. (Remember collar (12).) 12

3.4. INSPECTION a. Clutch case (35) – Replace the cover assembly if it has a damaged or worn sliding surface. – If there is any damage to the cover assembly and the piston seal ring, these parts should also be replaced.

CHAPTER 9 §4. TROUBLESHOOTING Problems PTO shaft does not turn.

Causes

Countermeasures

1. PTO change lever a. It is not shifted to the ON position.

• Shift the lever to the ON position.

2. Auxiliary gear pump a. Seized or damaged

• Measure the pressure and replace the whole assembly if it is defective.

3. Hydraulic valve assembly 3.1. Flow control valve a. Clogged with dirt

• Disassemble and wash. Especially make sure of the choke orifice in the spool.

b. Seized spool

• Disassemble and wash. • Correct minor flaws and dents. • Replace the whole assemble with a new one.

3.2. Solenoid valve assembly a. The valve is not electically alive.

• Check for short circuits, poor connections, etc. and correct them.

b. Burnt coil

• Measure the resistance across the terminals of the coil (10.4 Ω at 20°C). A defective coil assembly should be replaced with a new one.

c. Clogged or seized spool

• Apply DC 12V to the valve removed from the machine and check to see if the spool reacts smoothly or not. If it does not, wash and supply compressed air and oil through the openings and check again. • An defective valve should be replaced as an assembly.

3.3. Relief valve a. Damaged spring

• Replace it with a new one.

b. The poppet is seized in the OPEN position due to clogging or seizure.

• Disassemble and wash. • Correct minor dents and flaws.

25

ISEKI TRACTOR TM223 SERVICE UPDATE

Problems

Causes

Countermeasures

3.4. PTO clutch • Worn or burnt disc plate

• Replace with a new one. • When a disc plate is burnt, make sure that the hole for the poppet is not clogged.

3.5. Hydraulic circuit

2. The PTO shaft does not stop turning.

3. PTO shaft follows the PTO clutch.

a. Worn seal rings or rings

• Replace with new ones.

b. Oil is leaking through plugs.

• A leaking plug should be applied with screw locking adhesive and tightened.

1. Solenoid valve a. Power supply does not stop.

• Check for the PTO switch, wire harness, and solenoid for internal short circuits, and correct them or replace defective parts with new ones.

b. The spool is seized in the ON position.

• Clean by washing and blowing. • Replace with a new solenoid valve.

1. PTO clutch a. A worn brake disc

4. Remote hydraulics do not work.

• Replace a defective part with a new one. (As the PTO shaft does not sometimes stop due to excessive inertia of the implement, the implement should be disconnected ahead of time.)

• Remote hydraulics control valve

26

• The control valve should be checked in a similar way as for the PTO control valve.
