INSTALLATION / COMMISSIONING

• Installation work is to be carried out by qualified electro specialist only. • At works on an open instrument it is to be considered that some components may be under dangerous voltage. It is in the responsibility of the qualified electro specialist to understand the resulting danger and to take the corresponding safety precautions.

!

• The installation must be carried out in a manner to guarantee the safety of an user, without specific electro-knowledge, during the coming operation. • To change the configuration of the PCB’s interface, the USYS 2000 processor unit must be opened. For this purpose the instrument must be switched OFF by means of main switch "power" (position 0). • All connections on the rear panel must be disconnected!

4.1

OPERATING PRECAUTIONS Following the instructions will enable high performance of the operations and ensure many long years of use. Adhere to following suggestions: • Handling the AC and other cables When connecting and disconnecting the cables, take hold of the plug section and not the cord. Pulling the cord may cause damage to the cable and create hazards. • Preventing electric shock and fire hazards If the cable is broken or damaged, or if the wire is exposed, have it to replaced!

CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE Before switching on the appliance: • Check if the operating voltage complies with the power requirements of the gauge as stated on the serial number label. The label of is located on the top left side of the rear panel.

4.3.4 CRT An optional standard VGA monitor can be connected as external display. It shows the same screen as the LCD display.

4.3.5 Printer Interface LPT1 Standard interface for connecting a printer with a CENTRONICS interface. The printer interface is configured by software. The configuration procedure is described in the complementary Software Instruction Manual.

4.3.6 Connection to mains Connect the USYS 2000 processor unit to an interference free mains supply equipped with protected earth. The internal power supply is designed for voltage from 100 to 120 VAC (50...60 Hz) or 210 to 240 VAC (50...60 Hz). The mains input marked with "N L" and protective earth sign is on the rear panel of the processor unit. The power is supply is protected by an internal fuse with time rearmament. Use the main connector delivered with the unit. USYS 2000

4.4

LENGTH DETECTOR The processor unit USYS is equipped with a built-in length counter which can be controlled through an external length detector (impulse generator, proximity switch).



The connection of the length detector is necessary if: • the processor unit is supplied with an internal controller and should function on length basis • in the statistical evaluation the produced length should be recorded • the processor unit is joined with PC Link from ZUMBACH There are three different ZUMBACH devices which can be used as a length detector: – Proximity detector NJ-11-N201 (According to DIN 19234, resp. NAMUR) – Length measuring wheel WG2, suitable for line speeds not exceeding 500 m/min. (Includes a proximity detector) – Tachometric interface TI 069 for line speeds exceeding 500 m/min. (Voltage Pulse Converter)



Warning! During the lowest line speed it is necessary that the length detector still emits a minimum of 2 pulses per minute. If less than 2 pulses per minute are generated, the error code "Err 400" will be displayed. At maximum line speed, the length detector should not generate more than 12000 pulses per minute (200 Hz). The formula for the calculation of the minimum distance between 2 pulses in relation to the line speed is as follows: Min. distance (mm)

SYSTEM OVERVIEW The USYS 2000 is a two-bus architecture based system, an I/O CHANNEL and an ISA one. ISA bus is used for the processor board, the signal processing boards for the measuring gauge and the communication with other systems. I/O CHANNEL bus contains a controller board and/or different I/O boards depending of the configuration. All boards are galvanic separated to provide a full secure interfacing to the line elements.

4.6.1 Main processor board The processor board is the central processing unit of the USYS 2000. It gets data from the gauge signal processors and from the front panel, calculates values for the controller, manages the internal communication between each element and displays information on the screen.

Maintenance All the BIOS setting are saved in a CMOS memory supplied by a lithium battery. To avoid a lost of the BIOS setting, it is copied in a flash memory too and, if the battery becomes discharged the CMOS setting will be restore from the flash memory. Only the time will be lost. To restore the current time, refer to the software user's manual. The battery becomes discharged either because the power has not been on for a long time or after its lifetime (about 8-10 years). If the USYS 2000 looses the time during the battery lifetime, it must be power on during at least 10 hours to recharge it. If the time is lost again, the battery must be changed. See the spare list for details.

4.6.2 Interface Board N6.IA.124 Description The N6.IA.124 board is the IO-Channel ISA interface to permit the use of ZUMBACH IO boards. Another provided feature is a non-volatile memory used to store statistical values after a turn off. At start-up, data are restored from the N6.IA.124 memory into the system. Configuration To avoid conflict with another ISA board, the interrupt (IRQ) and the address must be set. In the USYS 2000 case these values are fixed at factory: Value Switch IRQ

Maintenance To store statistical data, the board is supplied with a 3V-lithium battery. When replacing it, be careful of voltage and polarity.

!

Caution: - The USYS 2000 must be turned off before changing the battery because it is welded on the board. - This operation could not be made during a running session because all data will be lost. The battery time life is about 8-10 years. Like the CPU battery time life is the same, it is strongly recommended to change it at the same time. 12/C4

4.6.3 Measuring processor Board N6.CP.310 Description The CP.310 board is the measuring head interface of USYS 2000. It evaluates the incoming signals and computes the measured values. Up to 2 boards can be mounted in the USYS 2000. The N6.CP.310 must be set to a fixed address using the DIP switch S1 and the rotating S2 and S3 like shown in the schema. All measuring and signal processing routines are stored in an easy-to-change module, the ME.006.A1. In update case this print can be change by the user. Due to the connector’s shape, bad plug-in is impossible.

INPUT/OUTPUT INTERFACE BOARDS The position of the I/O boards does not affect their function. The USYS 2000, however, has two slots available. To avoid bus conflict, each board must be set to a fixed address. The N6.IO.012 is used as primary; as second board either the N6.IO.011 or the N6.IO.003 may be used, depending of the application needs.

4.7.1 N6.IO.003 board The IO.003 board provides 8 inputs and 8 relay outputs. Each input and output can be assigned to an event or an alarm. See the user software manual for valid assignation. The relay output are normally open contact rated at a maximum of 380 VAC/8 A. The digital inputs are TTL rated inputs, negative true. Connecting these inputs to ground will activate the function of the respective input. The voltage is 0 or 5 V max, the current is 5 mA.

4.7.2 N6.IO.012 I/O-board The IO.012 board is used to interface the USYS 2000 to external devices and signal inputs. It provides a Static Regulating Device too. 4.7.2.1 Technical characteristics This board provides the following features: - 2 scalable analog outputs One provides the deviational output and the other provides an analog absolute output. Both are available at all times. - 7 opto-isolated digital inputs used for stop/start, pause, event 1, event 2, length counter, SRD Decrease/Increase (SRD in Absolute Mode), Reset (SRD in Trim Mode). - 3 N.O. Relay outputs used for tolerance high, tolerance low, general alarm, pulse +, pulse -. - 4 opto-isolated digital outputs for controller (+/-) and fault detection 1 & 2. - 1 static regulating device

4.7.2.2 Port specifications Relay outputs: All relay outputs are normally open contacts rated at a maximum of 250 VAC/5 A or 30 VDC/5 A. Digital Inputs: The Start/Stop, Pause, Event, SRD Decrease/Increase and line speed inputs are TTL rated inputs. The inputs are negative true. Connecting these inputs to ground will activate the function of the respective input. Voltage 0 or 5 V, max. input current 5 mA. SRD Input: The input voltage is defined as 0 to +10 V or 0 to -10 V at an input current of max. 200 mA. SRD output: The output voltage is analogue to the input with a max. output current of 5 mA. Digital outputs: The optocoupler may be supplied internally or externally. See specifications on next page. Analog outputs: The absolute analog output makes a 0 to +10 V signal available, proportional to the measured diameter. The output has a resolution of 4096 counts (12 bits) and can handle a maximum load of 5 mA. The deviational analog output makes a ±10 V signal available, proportional to the deviation (difference between the actual measured diameter versus the nominal set point). The output has a resolution of 2048 counts (11 bits) and can handle a maximum load of 5 mA.

4.7.3 N6.IO.011 I/O-board The analogue IO.011 board is used to interface the USYS 2000 to external devices and signal inputs.

4.7.3.1 Technical characteristics The board provides the following feature: - 8 opto isolated inputs - 8 opto isolated outputs - 4 analog inputs - 4 analog outputs 4.7.3.2 Port specifications Digital Inputs: The inputs are TTL rated inputs. The inputs are negative true. Connecting these inputs to ground will activate the function of the respective input. Voltage 0 to 50 V, sink current 1.5 mA. Analog Input: The input voltage is defined as 0 to +10 V or 0 to -10 V at an input current of max. 200 mA. Analog output: The output voltage is similar to the input with a max. output current of 5 mA. 4.7.3.3 Address Configuration DIP switch S1 determines the address of the N6.IO.011 on the Motorola IO-Channel bus. STATIC REGULATING DEVICE (SRD) The input or output voltage may not exceed 10 VDC. The SRD may be operated in the Trim Mode or the Absolute Mode. ☞ In all cases of a mode change, the system configuration must be updated. To update the system configuration, turn off the USYS 2000 for a few seconds, then turn it on again.

4.8.1 Trim Mode The input voltage is multiplied by a factor between 0.7 and 1.4. The output voltage range is from 0 to +10 V (or -10 to 0 V). The factor that modifies the output voltage may be reset to 1 by the SRD Reset input.

4.8.3 Input Voltage Polarity The input voltage is tracked by the hardware on the N6.IO.012 board. The hardware will correctly track the input regardless of the polarity. The Usys 2000 controller, however, needs to know the input voltage in order to properly determine the amount of time to wait for a correction to take place. In addition, when in the Trim Mode, the "Freeze" function needs to read the input voltage. The Analog to Digital converter, on the N6.IO.012, that converts the input voltage for the USYS can only accept a positive voltage. Jumper JP-20 is provided to correct the polarity, for the converter, if the input voltage is a negative voltage. Negative

4.8.4 Power On Relay A relay on the N6.IO.012 can be used to connect the SRD output to the input or to Ground when the USYS 2000 is turned off. This allows the line to operate with the USYS turned off when wired for the Trim Mode.
