 The kitties shown are about 7 inches tall, yours will vary according to the yarns you use and your tension. Keep your stitches tight and consistent to create an even fabric with no holes for stuffing to show through.



Crochet in spiral or joined rounds, use the method you prefer best, it won’t affect the final look. I personally prefer joined rounds, while others use spiral rounds.



This pattern is a bundle consisting of a base kitty pattern and 4 modifications: Tuxedo (pg. 6), Siamese (pg. 8), Tabby (pg. 10), and Calico (pg. 12). 2

About The Pattern: The Kitty pattern bundle includes the Base Kitty pattern with four modifications to turn the most basic design (a solid colored cat) into a Tuxedo, Siamese, Tabby, or Calico Kitty. Of course, you’re not limited to these 4 breeds, the only limit is your imagination!

BASE PATTERN HEAD Rnd 1: In a MR - sc 8 [8] Rnd 2: Inc in each st [16] Rnd 3: (Sc 1, inc) x8 [24] Rnd 4: (Sc 2, inc) x8 [32] Rnd 5: Sc in each st [32] Rnd 6: (Sc 3, inc) x8 [40] Rnd 7: Sc in each st [40] Rnd 8: (Sc 4, inc) x8 [48] Rnd 9: Sc in each st [48] Rnd 10: (Sc 5, inc) x8 [56] Rnd 11-18: Sc in each st [56] Rnd 19: (Sc 3, dec) x11, sc in last st [45] Place two 12 mm safety eyes between Rnds 13 & 14, 10 holes apart. Sew Arms, Legs and Tail onto the Body before stuffing. Stuff Body and then sew the finished Body to Head. Shape it so the bottom is flat to help the Kitty sit up. Finish stuffing and sewing, tie off.

NOSE Rnd 1: In a MR: (Sc, ch, dc 2, ch) (Sc, ch, dc, ch) (Sc, ch, dc 2, ch, sl st) [14] The Nose is divided up into 3 parts to make reading the pattern easier. Pull ring closed tightly! Leave a long thread for sewing Nose to Head. With pink yarn, sew a triangle shaped nose. Position Nose between the eyes with the bump in the middle being level or a little higher than the top of eyes. Pin in place, sew around Nose and tie off.

EARS – Make 2 Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 6 Rnd 2: (Sc 2, inc) x2 [8] Rnd 3: (Inc, sc 3) x2 [10] Rnd 4: (Sc 2, inc) x3, sc in last st [13] Rnd 5: Sc in each st [13] Rnd 6: (Inc, sc 2) x4, sc in last st [17] Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing. Fold cone in half to make a triangle and position on Head, sew around and tie off.

Inner Ear – Make 2 Rnd 1: In a MR: sc, hdc, ch, dc, ch, hdc, sc, sl st. Pull ring closed tightly! Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing to Ear. Position and sew onto front side of Ear, don’t sew through both layers. 4

ARMS - Make 2 Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 6 [6] Rnd 2: (Sc 1, inc) x3 [9] Rnd 3-10: Sc in each st [9] Rnd 11: Lightly stuff Arm. Fold and sc 4 across top, through both sides to close. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing to Body. Sew onto Rnd 15 of the Body.

LEGS – Make 2 Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 6 [6] Rnd 2: Inc in each st [12] Rnd 3-7: Sc in each st [12] Rnd 8: (Sc 2, dec) x3 [9] Rnd 9 -10: sc in each st [9] Rnd 11: Stuff Leg, fold opening in half and sc 4 across top, through both sides to close. Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Position Legs between Rnds 4 & 5 of the Body and sew on.

PAW PADS – Make 4 (Optional) Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 5 [5] Tie off and leave a tail for sewing to Arms & Legs. Position and sew around Paw Pad, then to add toes, sew 2 sts for each of three toe pads.

BASE TAIL Rnd 1: In a MR – sc 6 [6] Rnd 2: Inc in each st [12] Rnd 3-5: Sc in each st [12] Rnd 6: (Sc 2, dec) x3 [9] Rnd 7-9: Sc in each st [9] Rnd 10: Dec 1, sc 7 [8] Rnd 11-12: Sc in each st [8] Rnd 13: Lightly stuff Tail, fold in half and sc 4 across top, going through both sides to close. Tie off and leave a tail for sewing onto Body. Sew Tail between Rnd 4 & 5 of Body and after the Legs to ensure that the Kitty will sit upright. 5

The TUXEDO

The TUXEDO is such an iconic kitty, wearing his little suit in contrasting tones. The true tuxedo cat is black and white, with white boots and maybe a tipped tail. Bicolored kitties are also gray, tabby, ginger, and soft brown.

The PATTERN Use all the BASE PATTERN pieces in a base color, except the Nose should be made in the contrasting color (white). Add 4 whiskers in the contrasting color (white) to each side of the Nose with embroidery thread. The Nose Stripes and Chest Mark should be contrasting (white) as well. Note: I included two sizes of Nose Stripes so you can choose which one works best for your kitty! The kitty in the picture has the Long Stripe. 6

NOSE STRIPE Short Stripe - Rnd 1: Ch 5. In second st from hook: sc 2, hdc 2 [4] Long Stripe - Rnd 1: Ch 9. In second st from hook: sc 6, hdc 2 [8] Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing. Position onto Head after Nose is sewn into place. Attach to the bump on top of Nose and sew around Stripe using a backstitch.

CHEST MARK Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 6 Rnd 2: (Sc 1, sc 3 in 1 st) x3 [12] Rnd 3: Sc 2, (Inc, sc 3) x2, inc, sc [15] Rnd 4: Sc 2, hdc inc 1, sc 4, (In next st: sc, ch, hdc, ch, sc), sc 4, hdc inc 1, sc 2 [21] Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing to the front of Body. Position Chest Mark in place and lightly stuff (optional). Sew around edge and tie off.

COLORING: Boots & Tipped Tail To give your kitty boots and a tipped tail, crochet the first 3 Rnds of Arms, Legs, and Tail in white.

The SIAMESE

The SIAMESE is a svelte and graceful breed with a funky personality! They range in colors from dark to light browns, grays, reds (ginger) and tabbies. They typically have a solid light base color with dark accents on the nose/face, ears, feet, and tail.

The PATTERN Use all the BASE PATTERN pieces except the Tail, Inner Ears, and Paw Pads. Make the Face before the Head so the safety eyes are inserted through both layers. The Nose is made in the darkest contrasting color but this is optional, of course. Add 4 whiskers in a dark colored embroidery thread to each side of the Nose.

FACE Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 8 [8] Rnd 2: (Sc, sc 3 in 1 st) x3. Sc in last 2 sts [14] Rnd 3: Sc 2, (inc, sc 3) x3 [17] Rnd 4: Inc, sc, (Inc 2, sc 3) x3 [24] Rnd 5: Inc, sc 3, (Inc 2, sc 5) x2, Inc 2, sc 4 [31] Rnd 6: Sc 6, (Inc 2, sc 7) x2, inc 2, sc 5 [37] Make the Face piece before the Head. Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing. Turn your piece so that the yarn tail is at the bottom. Insert your 12mm eyes between Rnd 5&6 at the widest points of the triangle. Sew the Nose onto the center of Face. Insert the eyes through the Head between Rnds 13 & 14, 10 holes apart. Finish stuffing and crocheting Head. Then sew around the Face piece using a backstitch.

SKINNY TAIL Rnd 1: In a MR, sc 5 [5] Rnd 2: (Sc, inc) x2, sc in last st [7] Rnd 3-10: Sc in each [7] Rnd 11: Fold in half and sc 3 across top, through both layers to close. Sew between Rnds 4&5 of Body after the Legs so the Kitty sits upright.

COLORING For the iconic Siamese, use a light base color for the Body and Head. Use a darker color for the Face, Nose, Ears, Tail, and half of the Arms and Legs. ARMS: Use darker color for Rnds 1-7, then base color for Rnds 8-11. LEGS: Use darker color for Rnds 1-5, then base color for Rnds 6-11.

The TABBY

The TABBY is a fierce tiger trapped in a small package! This common and distinctive coat pattern is found across many different breeds. The colors range from ginger, black stripes on brown or gray, tabby calico, and tabby tortoiseshell. Tabbies can also be bicolor with white points like the ginger Tabby above.

The PATTERN To make the same Tabby as the picture, use all the BASE PATTERN pieces, plus the Chest Mark from the Tuxedo pattern. This design uses Surface Crochet for the added stripes on the kitty’s Head and Body pieces. If you don’t know how, follow this detailed SURFACE CROCHET TUTORIAL by Kristi Tullus. COLORING Crochet the base (Head, Ears, Body) color in yellow, the Nose and Chest Mark in white, and the stripes in orange. With white embroidery thread, add 4 whiskers to each side of the Nose. ARMS: Rnds 1-2 in white, Rnds 3-4, 6, 8, 10-11 in yellow, and Rnds 5, 7, 9 in orange. LEGS: Rnds 1-4 in white, Rnds 5, 7, 9, 11 in yellow, and Rnds 6, 8, 10 in orange. TAIL: Rnds 1-2 in white, Rnds 3-5, 8-9, 12-13 in yellow, and Rnds 6-7, 10-11 in orange.

Surface Crochet Stripes HEAD: With orange yarn, make a long stripe starting above the Nose around Rnd 7, running up the middle of the Head, and down the back to about Rnd 18. Add 2 shorter stripes on either side: Start at Rnd 5 in the front, and end around Rnd 8 in the Back. Next, add 3 stripes on each side of the Head: Top- between Rnds 10 & 11, Middle- Rnds 13 & 14, and Bottom- 16 & 17. BODY: With orange yarn, make a stripe that runs down the center of the back. Start 1 Rnd above the Tail and end 1 Rnd below where the Head and Body meet. Add 3 stripes to each side of the Body: Topbetween Rnds 13 & 14, Middle- Rnds 10 & 11, and Bottom- Rnds 7 & 8.

The CALICO

The CALICO is a refined and stylish kitty with an aptitude for drama! This classic, highly recognizable coat is a beautiful patchwork of orange and black splotches on a white base. The patch colors do vary, from orange to yellow, black to gray, and from a white base to a cream color. Calicos can also have tabby and tortoiseshell patches too!

The PATTERN Use all the BASE PATTERN pieces except the Paw Pads. The Nose and Legs are the same color as the base color. Match each Ear to the patch color they are sewn onto. All of the color changes on the Head and Body are worked as you crochet. If you do not know how to do color changes, follow this COLOR CHANGE TUTORIAL by June Gilbank. COLORING ARMS: Rnds 1-2 in white. Rnds 3-11 in orange on one Arm, and in black for the other. TAIL: Rnds 1-4 in orange, Rnds 5-6 in white, 7-13 in black. WHISKERS: Add 4 whiskers on each side of the Nose with embroidery thread in the base color.

Tips and Tricks: 1: For the best success: read over the pattern, make all the pieces first, and then assemble the animal. Pinning the pieces before sewing them on is helpful too. 2: Use a smaller hook if you have lots of holes or loose stitching. 3: Use larger or smaller eyes to match the yarn thickness and your personal style. Ex. Thinner yarn will create a smaller animal, and vice versa. Use the size that looks best. 4: The Head should be shaped like an upside-down peach, mold it in your hands after it is stuffed. Amigurumi are quite malleable! 5: Play around with Ear and Nose placement. Many expressions can be created by moving the Ears higher or lower on the Head. Have fun! 15
