National foreword This standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 72 ‘Fire detection and fire alarm systems’. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (Fire Fighting Standards Committee), Technical Committee Brandmelde- und Feueralarmanlagen und elektrische Betriebsmittel. The DIN Standards corresponding to the IEC Publications referred to in clause 2 of the EN are as follows: IEC Publication DIN Standard IEC 60068-2-3 DIN IEC 60068-2-3 IEC 60068-2-30 DIN EN 60068-2-30 IEC 60068-2-42 DIN IEC 60068-2-42 IEC 60068-2-56 DIN IEC 60068-2-56 Amendments DIN EN 54-5, DIN EN 54-6, and DIN EN 54-8, September 1989 editions, have been combined into one standard and the specifications have been revised. Previous editions DIN EN 54-5: 1977-04, 1989-09; DIN EN 54-6: 1984-08, 1989-09; DIN EN 54-8: 1984-08, 1989-09.
