Select the highest poss1ble locat1on where the surroundmg structures would be least likely to affect the readings, with the 'N' on the lower part of the stand facing towards the bow, and the'S' mark facing towards the stern. These should be fixed into position by 5 bolts each. The cable is connected to the terminal panel after passing through the stand at the lower part and then through the metal for the electric wires. It is then connected to the indicator within the bridge. The propeller is made to match the key groove, and must be firmly tightened with a set screw. (If not tightened properly, it may fail off.) All shaft bearings are provided w1th ball bearings, and they will withstand a long period of use without lubrication. *INDICATOR This is of the wall mounting type with the w1nd speed indicator on the right , and the wind direction indicator on the left. The wind speed indicator is graduated in meters as well as in knots. The graduation for wind direct1on at the upper part for the bow (0°) and the lower part for the stern is (180°) with board and starboard graduated at 180 . respectively. Attachment holes are bored, and it is only necessary to attach it with bolts at the desired place on the wall surface. The wiring is carried out by connecting the cable from the sensor to the terminal board. Do not fail to match the terminal number to the terminal number of the sensor. The lighting of the dials can be adjusted freely by manipulating the knob for luminance.

On board ship or for a train running in wind, the sensed or apparent wind is composed of 2 components the true or meteorological wind and the vehicle translation. To obtain the true wind-direction and speed, the vector difference between the sensed wind vector and the vehicle translation vector must be calculated. The present Computer is designed to facilitate this calculation.
