Solenoid Apply Chart This is an electrical apply chart. When the solenoid has amperage (on) it is working. This can get confusing because some of the solenoids are Normally High (N/H) and others are Normally Low (N/L). N/H solenoids flow oil with no amperage. N/L solenoid do not flow oil with no amperage. Look at the UD solenoid (N/H) it has no amperage to the solenoid in 1-2-34 and the UD clutch is on at that time.

Solenoid & Temperature Sensor Locations
Note: Transmission fluid temperature sensor has change design in early March 2013. The new style sensor is integrated into the internal harness. Many different models have a factory TSB on temperature sensor issues. We would advise to upgrade to new style.
Line Pressure Solenoid Line pressure solenoid is a normally high (N/H) variable force solenoid. When the solenoid has no amperage (off) the solenoid is flow full pressure. The solenoid operates at 50-850 mA and pressure from solenoid is 72.54 to 1.42 PSI. The solenoid resistance is 5.1 ohms.
Torque Converter Clutch & 2 – 6 Brake Solenoids The Torque Converter (TC) and 2-6 Brake (26) solenoids are a variable force solenoid and are normally low (N/L) type solenoid. With no amperage to the solenoid oil flow is low pressure. The solenoid operates with 50-850 mA and pressure control is 1.42-72.54 psi. The solenoid resistance is 5.1 ohms.
3-5-R, Underdrive and Overdrive Solenoids The 3-5-R, Underdrive (UD) and Overdrive (OD) solenoids are variable force solenoid and are normally high (N/H) type solenoid. All three solenoids are the same, but would advise keep in the same position. With no amperage to the solenoid oil flow is high pressure. When the solenoid has amperage it operates at 50-850 mA and controls pressure from 72.54-1.42 psi. The solenoid resistance is 5.1 ohm’s.
On / Off Solenoids SSA & SSB The On/Off solenoids are both normal low solenoids. Pressure control is from 5-71.12 psi. The resistance is 10-11 ohms.

Looking into case connector. Speed sensor are Hall Effect sensors, so ohms values do not help.
Temperature Sensor Information The temperature sensor is a negative thermal coefficient type sensor. Higher voltage means colder transmission fluid temperature. Voltage at 104 F is about 3.2 volts and at 302 F around .29 volts.

Pressure Tap Locations The pressure tap location are also stamped on the casting by the pressure plugs.
Pressure Testing This chart is quite confusing because it shows solenoid being commanded in mA. The chart also tests solenoid pressure when we are attached to a clutch port. Looking at chart the UD clutch should have 230 PSI at that port @2500 RPM with no amps to the UD solenoid. Clutch Apply Clutch

Transmission Learning Transmission learning is preformed to ensure consistent transmission shifting in respect to variations like hydraulic pressure, clutch clearances and wear. The transmission will learn shift engagements and shifts. To help learn after transmission replacement or rebuild. • Reset learned values with scanner • No codes any system • Operating temps (104 F to 194 F) • Accelerate with 20% APS 1-2-3-4 at least three times (excessive change in APS will not relearn) • Shift N-D at least three times
