Advanced: Let’s Talk Lance: Don’t you just love music? I listen to it every day. I think it’s one of the best things ever created. What’s your favorite kind of music, Devin? Devin: I’m a big fan of classic rock and pop. I guess that if I had to make a choice between those two, I’d have to go with classic rock. It’s the music that I grew up listening to. What about you? Lance: I love pop, classical, and techno music. I know it sounds crazy because they are all so different. Techno is definitely my favorite though. Are you into techno? Devin: No, it is a little too weird for me. The repetitive beat makes me feel like I’m going nuts. Plus, I think dance music should have lyrics. Of course, that’s just my opinion. Lance: Really? I like the fact that it doesn’t have any words. You see, the beat is what I love most about techno. It leaves the music open to interpretation. Devin: That’s very interesting. I’ve never thought about it like that. I guess you have a point there. Now, I think I can see why you like it. Copyright (c) 2008-2012 Open English LLC. All rights reserved.

Music therapy is used with individuals of all ages and for a variety of conditions: psychiatric disorders, medical problems, physical handicaps, sensory impairments, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, communication disorders, interpersonal problems, and aging. It is also used to improve learning, build self-esteem, reduce stress, support physical exercise, and facilitate a host of other health-related activities. Copyright (c) 2008-2012 Open English LLC.
