MANUALE REVISIONE / CATALOGO RICAMBI L’ Ammortizzatore è un importante componente della veicolo e in questo manuale è descritto il migliore metodo per revisionarlo correttamente. Vi preghiamo di leggere attentamente questo manuale prima di procedere alla revisione; se avete qualche dubbio riguardo alla procedura da seguire, contattate un tecnico della Bitubo.

Tenete sempre presente che l’ammortizzatore ha il corpo in pressione perciò è molto pericoloso: qualche componente potrebbe uscire ad altissima velocità e provocare seri danni alla salute vostra e/o ad altri nelle vicinanze. Leggete attentamente questo manuale per eseguire il corretto procedimento di smontaggio ed evitare le negative conseguenze di uno scorretto procedimento

SERVICE MANUAL / SPARE PARTS CATALOGUE The shock damper is an important component of the motorbike, and in this Service Manual is explained the correct method to revise it. Please study and make certain that you fully understand all the instruction before handling this component; if you have any questions regarding proper service procedures, please contact a Bitubo technician.

Remember that steering damper is pressurized ant its may be very dangerous: some component may be expulsed at very hight speed and cause serious damage to your healt and/or other people nearby. Read carefully this manual in order to follow the right dismounting procedure and avoid the negative conseguences of a wrong procedure.

4) Sfilare la ghiera di regolazione; fare attenzione alla fuoriuscita della molletta di contrasto, e alla relativa sferetta.

Move the Rebound adjustment to “SOFT” dismantle the Rebound ring; pay attention to the little sphera and its spring.

2) Svitare (con la brugola da 2.5mm) e togliere la vite di fermo della ghiera regolazione. Unscrew the bolt (2.5mm Allen key) securing the rebound adjustment ring nut

6) Sfilare la molla dall’ammortizzatore Remove the spring.

Unscrew the gas-injection screwed cap in order to access to the intake valve, and…

Versione con regolazione estensione a levetta: Version with the Rebound adjuster lever :

NOTA BENE: Prima di procedere allo smontaggio, rilevare la taratura presente: Precarico molla ed Estensione NOTE: Before proceding with disassembly, make a note of current shock settings: Spring preload and Rebound 6a) Dopo aver tolto il piattello e sfilato la molla, posizionare in morsa l’ammortizzatore. Togliere il cappuccio di gomma dalla levetta di regolazione Estensione per accedere alla vite di blocco; posizionare la levetta di regolazione Estensione su “SOFT”, quindi allentare la vite (con brugola da 3mm)

7) Infilando nella valvola l’attrezzo cod. 00274 (Ago inserimento gas), depressurizzare la vaschetta separata … Introduce the needle code 00274 in order to draw off the gas

Lock the lower head in the vice. Take off the rubber cap and unscrew the allen screw (use 3mm allen key) on the rebound adjustment lever, after placing the lever on SOFT.

8) Con l’attrezzo cod. 00212 svitare il coperchio vaschetta Using the tool code 00212 unscrew the cap of the tank

7) Rovesciare l’ammortizzatore e fissarlo in morsa. Rimuovere la vite di protezione della valvola gas, nella vaschetta di compensazione Reverse the shock absorber and lock it in the vice. 9) Rovesciare l’ammortizzatore, fissare in morsa la testina inferiore, e allentare il dado di fissaggio stelo-testina Now loosen the flanged nut tightening the rod to the lower head

10) Svitare la testina inferiore dallo stelo, attenzione alla bussola che fuoriesce dal suo alloggiamento all’interno della testina Unscrew the lower head in order to dismantle it from the rod. Pay attention to the little bush coming out its place inside the lower head

12) Sfilare con attenzione lo stelo, completo di anello in gomma, ghiera guida, e gruppo idraulico. Togliere dal pistone la fascia di scorrimento Remove the main rod with the hydraulic unit, complete with the rubber O-ring, the guide bush, and keep out of the piston the sliding ring.

13) Svuotare l’olio del Corpo ammortizzatore in apposito recipiente Empty the hydraulic oil out of the shock absorber body. 11) Bloccare i morsa la testina superiore, e con l’attrezzo cod. 00212 svitare il Tappo-Ghiera corpo Turn the shock absorber upside down and block in a vice the body head. Unscrew the cap – ring nut closing the body, using the tool code 00212.

14) Avvitare l’attrezzo cod. 00264 sul pistone separatore della vaschetta… Screw the tool code 00264 in the floating piston of the tank …

17) Fissare nuovamente l’ammortizzatore in morsa. Utilizzando l’attrezzo cod. 00364, svitare la vaschetta dal raccordo alla testina Lock the shock absorber in the clamp. Using the tool code 00364, unscrew the tank from its head

15) … quindi rimuovere il pistone separatore olio/gas dalla vaschetta, e togliere la fascia di scorrimento dal suo alloggiamento. … and remove it; take off the sliding band

18) Togliere la vaschetta per accedere al gruppo idraulico di Compressione. Take off the tank to access to the hydraulic Compression unit

19) Allineare la vite di fissaggio della manopolina di regolazione con la tacca presente nella fusione (punto bianco in foto indicato dalla freccia), quindi svitare la vite 16) Svuotare la vaschetta Empty the tank

After aligned the lock screw of the adjuster knob to the sign (see arrow), with the 2 mm allen key unscrew the screw that holds the compression adjuster knob;

20) Togliere la manopolina di regolazione Compressione. Attenzione alle sferette e alla mollettina di contrasto che fuoriescono dal loro alloggiamento lift the knob, remove the little sphera and its spring on them chamber cover.

23) Nel caso sia necessario sostituire l’Oring di tenuta testina-corpo ammortizzatore, con la pistola termica, scaldare l’accoppiamento testina-corpo ammortizzatore. If it is needed to replace the head-body O-ring, heat the zone with the Heat Gun

21) Svitare con la bussola da 12mm la vite centrale del gruppo idraulico Using a 12 mm spanner, unscrew the nut from the hydraulic unit

24) Applicando sul corpo ammortizzatore l’attrezzo cod. 00242 e la boccola riduzione a diametro 36mm cod. 00363, svitare il corpo dalla testina, e toglierlo Insert the special tool code 00242 into the body together with the reducing bush 00363, unscrew the body from the head, and take it off

22) sfilare la vite-perno del gruppo idraulico, e sostituire gli O-ring se necessario. Take off the screw of the hydraulic unit, and if needed, change the two O-ring 25) Rimuovere l’O-ring in gomma di tenuta, e sostituirlo. Remove the rubber O-ring and change it

26) Rimuovere e sostituire anche l’O-ring della testina vaschetta separata Remove and replace also the rubber Oring of the head tank

28) Estrarre e pulire la membrana e la molla Extract and clean the check valve and the spring

27) Usando l’attrezzo cod. 00241, posizionarlo sul bordo della valvola di compressione e svitarla Using the tool code 00241, place it on the edge of the compression valve and unscrew it

29) Fissare in morsa, utilizzando le ganasce cod. 00318, lo stelo ammortizzatore. Block the rod in the vice, using the Bitubo jaws code 00318.

30) Attenzione: per una corretta taratura dell’ammortizzatore, seguire la procedura descritta a seguire. Con la bussola da 12 mm, avvitare a fondo la vite centrale del gruppo idraulico, rilevandone la posizione dal “tutto avvitato” (1/2 giro o 1 giro) per riposizionarla correttamente in fase di rimontaggio. Quindi svitarla completamente…

32) Utilizzando l’attrezzo cod. 00241 svitare il pistone idraulico Using the Bitubo tool cod. 00241 (locking tool for piston diam. 32mm) unscrew the hydraulic piston

Warning: for a correct calibration of the shock, follow the procedure described below Using the 12 mm spanner, before disassembling the adjustment rod, screw it and check the angle needed to reach to “endscrew”. This operation is needed to reestablish the correct position of the adjustment rod on its riassembling.

33) togliere il pistone idraulico e i suoi componenti sottostanti remove the idraulic piston and disassembly the components below

34) Utilizzando la stessa astina, infilata nello stelo dalla parte opposta, spingere per far fuoriuscire gli O-ring di tenuta della astina

SEQUENZA DI MONTAGGIO ASSEMBLY SEQUENCE 1) Infilare sulla punta dell’attrezzo cod. 00276 (inseritore O-ring astina) i nuovi O-ring. Applicare un po’ di grasso sugli O-Ring, e inserirli nello stelo Using the tool, code 00276, put the two rubber O-rings in the rod, with a small quantity of grease 4) Avvitare a fondo con la bussola da 12mm la astina di regolazione, poi svitare del valore rilevato durante lo smontaggio (1/2 giro o 1 giro da “tutto avvitato”) vedi punto 30 della sequenza di smontaggio di questo manuale then screw with a 12mm bush; at latest, unscrew with the same angle (1/2 or 1 turn) as mentioned in the dissassembly sequence. see point nr. 30 of the disassembly sequence of this manual

2) Avvitare il Pistone idraulico sullo stelo, e utilizzando l’attrezzo cod. 00241, serrare a fondo. Using the Bitubo tool cod. 00241 (locking tool for piston diam. 32mm) screw tightly the hydraulic piston

5) Predisporre la vite-perno del gruppo idraulico di compressione e la valvola di compressione come mostrato in foto Prepare the screw of the hydraulic compression unit and the compression valve as shown in the picture

3) Inserire nello stelo la astina con i relativi dischi Introduce the little rod with its shims in the hydraulic piston

6) Inserire all’interno della testina dell’ammortizzatore la molla e la membrana smontate in precedenza. Posizionare la parte piana della membrana verso la valvola e avvitare a mano il gruppo valvola di compressione fino in fondo Insert the spring and the check valve previously disassembled into the shock absorber head. Place the flat side of the check valve towards the compression valve and tighten completely by hand

8) Cospargere di Loctite la filettatura del corpo ammortizzatore, poi avvitarlo sulla Testina Apply grease in the inside of the head, a tear of Loctite on the threading, and then screw the head to the body. Tighten apply to the body the tool code 00242 with the reducing bush 00363

9) Versare nella vaschetta Olio Bitubo cod. 997618, fino a 10mm dal bordo 7) Usando l’attrezzo cod. 00241 serrare la valvola di compressione Use tool cod. 00241 compression valve

10) Avvitare al pistone separatore l’attrezzo 00264, applicare la fascia di scorrimento sul pistone separatore, quindi inserirlo nella vaschetta

12) Avvitare il coperchio vaschetta, e con l’attrezzo cod. 00212, serrare a fondo. Screw the cap of the tank, and tighten it with the tool code 00212

Screw the tool code 00264 to the floating piston, apply the piston sliding band, and insert in the tank

11) Avvolgere la vaschetta con panno-carta assorbente (per assorbire l’olio che fuoriuscirà in eccesso), e spingere all’interno il pistone, fino a posizionarlo a 50mm dal bordo vaschetta. Envelop the tank with blotting paper, then push the floating piston inside the tank, till 50mm from the edge of the tank.

13) Inserire sul corpo ammortizzatore l’attrezzo cod. 00261 (inseritore pistone), applicare sul pistone la nuova fascia di scorrimento, quindi inserirlo nel corpo ammortizzatore.

Insert in the shock absorber body the tool code 00261 (piston inserting tool), apply on the piston the new piston ring, then insert into the body the piston together with the rod.

14) Rabboccare l’olio fino ad 1mm sotto alla scanalatura (indicata dalla punta del cacciavite) Refill the oil till 1 mm under the mark inside the body

17) Applicare sulla estremità dello stelo l’attrezzo cod. 00272 (coprifiletto stelo) e inserire il tappo chiusura corpo. Avvitare ora il tappo ghiera, e con l’attrezzo 00212 serrare a fondo

Apply on the rod the tool code 00272 (seal insertion tool) and insert the tube cap. Then screw the tube cap, and tighten it using the tool code 00212

15) Inserire la guida stelo, lato fresato verso l’alto… Insert the guide bush, worked side upwards…

18) Utilizzando l’attrezzo cod. M0002 (manometro per inserimento gas) con l’attrezzo 00274 (ago inseritore gas), pressurizzare la vaschetta a 8 atm

16) … poi l’O-ring, accertandosi di inserirlo correttamente nella fresatura sul bordo della guida

With the tool code M0001 (gas pressure gauge) together with the code 00274 (needle valve gas insertion tool), inflate the Nitrogen gas at 8 ATM

… then the O-ring, be sure to insert it correctly in the worked edge of the guide bush

19) Inserire nel suo alloggiamento nella testina dela vaschetta separara la sferetta e la sua molletta di contrasto, quindi applicare un po’ di grasso sulla sferetta e sulla sul perno centrale, poi applicare la manopolina di regolazione Compressione, avvitandone la vite di blocco.

18) Inserire nello stelo il tampone di finecorsa, e avvitare il dato di blocco Insert the end stroke bumper and then screw the fixing nut in the rod.

Put the spring and the little sphera in the hole of the tank cover, apply few grease in the bottom face of the adjustment knob, position it on the tank cover, put the grub screw on the side hole of the knob, and screw it well down.

Versione con regolazione Estensione a ghiera Version with Rebound Ring :

17) Ruotare la manopola di regolazione verso “Hard” fino a sentire l’indurimento. Ora svitare il grano di blocco, e ruotare la regolazione fino ad allineare il grano di blocco con la tacca presente sul coperchio vaschetta. Riserrare ora il grano di blocco. Verificare che la manopola di regolazione compia un giro completo nella direzione “Soft”

19) Ora avvitare a mano la testina di attacco. Inserire nel suo alloggiamento la bussola cilindrica per la regolazione Estensione, inflilando nel suo foro centrale la astina che fuoriesce dallo stelo ammortizzatore. Now screw the lower head to the rod, and insert the little bush of the rebound adjuster. Verify that the little rebound rod is into the centre hole of the bush

Turn the adjuster knob to “HARD” in order to feel its resistance. Now unscrew the grub screw, and turn the knob till the hole of the grub is in line with the groove visible on the cap. Now screw tightly the grub screw. At the end, verify that the adjuster knob makes a complete turn to “SOFT” position Versione con regolazione estensione a levetta: Version with Rebound Lever : 19 A) Avvitare la testina inferiore, posizionando il disco della levetta di regolazione in modo che la astina che fuoriesce dallo stelo entri nell’ apposito foro centrale. 22) Con l’attrezzo premimolla 00297+anello di riduzione 00344, comprimere la molla e applicare il piattello fermomolla. Using the hydraulic spring presser, code 00297, with the reduction ring code 00344, insert the spring-holder plate.

24) Applicare l’Oring antivibrazione, accertandosi che sia inserito correttamente nel suo alloggiamento. Apply the O-ring in its hole

25) Posizionare la tacca di riferimento in corrispondenza della posizione “SOFT” sulla ghiera di regolazione, e avvitare a fondo la vite a brugola di blocco Position on “SOFT” the Rebound adjuster ring at the referring hole, then tighten the screw.
