PROPOSAL ABSTRACT This study focused on the extremely effects of family induced pressure to the academic performance of the grade 12 STEM students of STI Las Piñas. The researchers conducted this study to know if there is a significant relationship between the extreme effects of family induced pressure and the academic performance of the grade 12 STEM students. The researchers will be giving questionnaires to the selected grade 12 STEM students about this study. The researchers will used Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient to determine if there are a relationship between two variables. Lastly, the researchers wanted to know if the extreme effects of family induced pressure helps the students to perform better on their academic performance and deeply understand the cause and effect relationship.

INTRODUCTION As we all know, Pressure is trying to force someone to do something; whether it is against on his or her own will. Pressure is commonly known as one of the things people are dealing with. Is family induced pressure have something to do with the performance of a student? Can pressure affect their Academic performances? The Effects of Academic Parental Pressure on kids by Modernmom staff (2016) stated that too much pressure to do well in school can make kids do unethical things. For example, child who has been told that they should get all A's on their report card could feel forced to undermine an exam or task so as to satisfy that commitment. They may likewise swing to drugs as well as liquor to manage the pressure. Watch out for your kid on the off chance that they are hinting at any appearing to be particularly worried by school and converse with them in the event that you have any questions or concerns. Although there are bad effects of pressure, there are good effects as well. Students manage pressure differently. An adolescent may join a volunteer task since the majority of his or her peers are doing it. It depends on how the student handle the pressure they are experiencing. Lindsay Dowdle (2017) said, pressure can be positive in a way that it can motivate you to do better on your test, work, and it can also push you to your fullest potential. Pressure is one of the things people need to go through, and once you know to handle it, it comes with benefits. Pressure is one of the things we have to deal with at some point of our life. A blog written by Beth Morrisey (2018) discussed the things people should know on how to deal with Pressure from Parents. Most parents just want what is the best for their children, but when their idea doesn’t match yours it can frustrate both parties. Use these guides on how to deal with pressure from your parents: Remain Calm, Know your argument, enlist the aid of an Expert, and be willing to compromise. Parent pressure can make your home life a horrific experience, yet following these convenient hints should help reduce the pressure and let you all meet in the middle. However, in any case, your parents are pressuring you to the point that you feel imperiled either physically or mentally, contact a trusted adult such as, a family companion, teacher, specialist or policeman quickly. Otherwise, hold tight in light of the fact that this too will pass.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Pressure, a word that is often interpreted as one of the things that is affecting people negatively. During these days, these so called pressure have produced different variations that is also producing variety of effects that can either help or hinder an individual depending on how they are handling it. Family induced pressure is one of them, according to “The Odyssey Online” it is when an individual’s family has a certain type of educational attainment that they need to attain or even when their family is expecting them to have good grades and be one of the top students. The researchers conducted this study in order for them to know if family induced pressure has something to do on how a grade 12 STEM student behaves. This research can also give knowledge to the researchers whether pressure has a great impact or not.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE This chapter contains related literature. It is compiled in books, articles and internet searches both local and foreign in different previous studies.

FOREIGN LITERATURE Alexis Beauclair (2015) “The Pressure on Today’s Students” stated that, In Palo Alto, Calif., there is apparently no space for anything sort of 100 percent achievement; these students originate from families that are knowledgeable and well off. By differentiate, Carlos Escanilla, who scored ineffectively on the SAT and was an average student in secondary school, didn't expect particularly of himself. However he finished school and doctoral level college. Mr. Escanilla's story is a helpful one of flexibility, assurance and coarseness.

According to the Odyssey Online (2016) Pressure is being applied by a parent when they are expecting a student to achieve any type of academic goals most especially when they are expecting them to be one of the top students, or even if they keep on telling these students to graduate on time. Also, as a teenager student also needs to learn on making their own financial decisions and make use of their money in a proper way. This study states that this could also imply pressure to students. Relationships can also be a reason for a student to experience pressure, because when a student does have a relationship with someone, there are times where they are worrying about their partner and also there are times where they will experience heartaches that will surely be a pressure for them to carry.

As studied by Katherine Lee (2018) Given that the pressure to succeed is more noteworthy than at any other time today as children confront expanded rivalry for scholarly and vocation achievement, the researchers set out to discover what part guardians' states of mind played on children's mental wellbeing and scholastic execution. They asked 506 6th graders from an affluent community to rank the best three of six things they believed their parents wanted for them. They found that the best results were among kids who believed that their parents esteemed graciousness as much as or more than individual accomplishments. Then again, children who saw their parents as putting more accentuation on accomplishments over being caring to others will probably encounter negative results, for example, wretchedness, nervousness, bring down confidence, conduct issues, feedback from guardians, learning issues, and lower grades.

According to a blog titled “Effects of Parental Pressure on Students” students in the present time encounters a lot of pressures due to education and school, and in which also the pressure from the parents contributes as well. Parental Pressure has a lot of negative effects to a child in which it can harm the self-esteem and creativity and can also cause stress and depression to a child.

Parents need to comprehend that their meaning of accomplishment may be not quite the same as their youngster’s meaning of achievement. Too much academic pressure on the children can backfire severely and end up affecting them negatively in several ways.

A blog titled “The Effects of parental involvement on academic achievement: a meta-synthesis” (2013) studied the effect of parental association on understudy scholastic accomplishment has been perceived by instructors, chairmen, and approach creators who view parental contribution as one of the necessary parts of new instructive changes and activities. This examination incorporated the aftereffects of nine meta-investigations that inspected this effect and it recognized generalizes discoveries over these examinations. The outcomes showed that the connection between parental contribution and scholastic accomplishment was certain, paying little heed to a meaning of parental association or proportion of achievement the effect of parental inclusion on understudy scholarly accomplishment was weakest if parental association was characterized as homework help. At last, the connection between parental association and scholastic accomplishment was observed to be steady crosswise over various review levels and ethnic gatherings. A journal titled “The effects of maternal parenting style and religious commitment on selfregulation, academic achievement, and risk behavior among African-American parochial college students” investigation was investigated relations between both parent and understudy, and maternal child rearing style and understudy scholastic self-control, scholarly accomplishment, and hazard conduct among African-American youth going to a parochial school. Eighty-five students finished self-report overview proportions of religiosity, self-control, scholastic accomplishment, and hazard conduct. Albeit no immediate relations were seen between child rearing style and understudy, maternal child rearing style was found to direct relations among parental and understudy religiosity.

According to Sujatha (2015) Parental weight for kids to exceed expectations in their examinations has been strangely high. Not at all like different nations, peer weight does not appear to highlight in the rundown of hardships of an Indian understudy. A convincing need to

exceed expectations in scholastics originating from the family, frequently tending to manhandle, cripples the understudy's resolve and is one of the best foundations for disappointment and breakdown, say driving clinicians. Disappointment in examinations is among the best 10 purposes behind suicide in the nation while family issues among the best three.

According to Heynes, specialists have turned out to be extraordinarily inspired by the impacts of family structure on the scholarly accomplishment of youngsters. Most by far of these examinations have concentrated on a couple of family structures in their analysis. The impacts of seven family structure factors were inspected to decide the degree to which a few family structures affect the scholarly accomplishment of youngsters. The consequences of this examination show that the impacts of family structure on the scholarly accomplishment of youngsters shift extensively among the most well-known family structures.

LOCAL LITERATURE A blog titled “How Parental Academic Pressure Backfires to Children” (2017) stated that being disturbed to their Cs and Ds isn't the answer for enhance their scholastic performance. Here is an example of an excessive amount of scholastic weight does to youngsters: It might create pressure and anxiety. Stress and uneasiness will in the long run show physically to the kids. It may not show up now but rather the conclusion might be affirmed later in the kid's life. A portion of the impacts of scholastic weight on the tyke's wellbeing are dietary issues, self-hardship, the runs, stomach hurts, rashes, and cerebral pains.

According to a site by ABS-CBN; Salamat Dok, Numerous parents believe that academic excellence is the establishment for progress. Have you asked your child what he/she feels about it? "A few kids see that you just cherish them since they consider hard or their evaluations are great. The issue with this is the point at which they are as of now working, their accomplishments are just founded on their psychological limit or competency however when they commit errors, they

lose confidence," said Jason Sanchez, Director for Student and Faculty Development at Morning Dew Montessori. Oversights bring down oneself estimation of the tyke. It is essential for guardians to recall that their youngster's evaluations are not by any means the only factor to consider for progress.

A study written by Aileen S. Garcia & Liane Alampay stated that this investigation surveyed relations of parental viability, experience of unpleasant life occasions, and kid externalizing conduct to Filipino moms and fathers' parental antagonistic vibe and animosity. Orally-directed reviews were led with 117 moms and 98 fathers for the principal year of information accumulation, and again a year later with 107 moms and 83 fathers. Way investigations demonstrated that moms' report of youngster externalizing conduct anticipated ensuing parental antagonistic vibe and hostility. For dads, tyke externalizing conduct and experience of distressing life occasions anticipated parental threatening vibe and animosity.

Also, fathers' parental viability was found to direct the connection between experience of upsetting life occasions and parental threatening vibe and animosity. Results propose that youngster externalizing conduct and experience of unpleasant life occasions have guide relations to parental antagonistic vibe and hostility, while parental viability has a directing impact to it. The contrasts between the outcomes for dads and moms are clarified with regards to unmistakable child rearing jobs and child rearing in the neighborhood setting.

Extreme effects of family induced pressure to the academic performance of Grade 12 STEM students

Questionnaires

Determining how does family induced pressure affects the academic performance of Grade 12 STEM student

The researchers distributed questionnaires to Grade 12 STEM students where they can rank how often they experience family induced pressure, where they can rank it from never (1), seldom (2), sometimes (3), often (4) and always (5). The respondents also have to indicate their academic performance from: 1 – poor (74 and below), 2 - fair (75-79), 3 – good (80-84), 4 – very good (85-89) and 5 – excellent (90 and above). The independent variable is the family induced pressure.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK A theory titled "Family Systems Theory" introduced by Dr. Murray Bowen. This theory focused of human behavior that views the family as an emotional unit and user systems, it is the nature of a family that its member are intensely connected emotionally. So, if the parents wants to get a high grades from his/her child, their child will be pressured because if the child not get a high grades, child will giving a punishment and it will affect to their academic performance on their school. And if one the member of family using a alcohol or what, this might bring out negative feedback from their child and it may affect to their academic performance because of what they seen or heard from their parents.

METHODOLOGY The method of the researchers’ study is a quantitative research. This chapter defines the research method used to conduct the study. The researchers’ explain how the necessary data and information to address the research objectives and questions was collected, presented and analyzed.

RESEARCH LOCALE The study was conducted in STI Academic Center Las Piñas since the respondents are the grade 12 STEM students of the school.

RESEARCH DESIGN This study is designed as a correlation type of research. The researchers’ aim was to determine if there are relationship in two variables. The researchers’ objective is to know the relationship between the extreme effects of family induced pressure and the academic performance of a grade 12 STEM student. The quantitative research method was used since it emphasizes the objective, measurement, mathematical, numerical analysis and statistical data of the given variables through questionnaires. The result and findings of the study was given by the Grade 12 STEM students should conduct by the researchers to know the statistical study of the specific areas where the proponents must concentrate.

POPUATION SAMPLING Population sampling is the best process of taking a subset of subjects that is representative of the entire population. The sample must have sufficient size to warrant statistical analysis – The researchers target is the Grade 12 STEM students of STI Las Piñas. The reason why the researchers need to gather data is because based on the title, the researchers need to apprehend or know if the Grade 12 STEM students’ are affected by the extreme effects of family induced

pressure, so in this case the researchers’ only need to apprehend is the Grade 12 STEM students’ academic performances.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT To determine the answers from the respondents (students), the researchers will be giving a questionnaire that related to the Extreme Effects of Family induced Pressure. It consist of five (5) questions that the respondents should be answer. The questions made of researchers has easily understand because it has a guideline.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA In determining if there is a relationship between the two ordinal variables, a computation of Pearson Correlation Coefficient will be used, it aims to know whether there is a relationship between two variables or not. In formula:

𝑟=

𝑛(∑ 𝑥𝑦) − (∑ 𝑥) (∑ 𝑦) √[𝑛 ∑ 𝑥 2 − (∑ 𝑥 )2 ] [𝑛 ∑ 𝑦 2 − (∑ 𝑦)2 ]
