Declaration of conformity

The declaration of conformity can be found in the appendix.

2

Intended use of the machine

The stair lift is intended for the carriage of persons with walking impairments and wheelchair users. The stair-lift drives between defined stops (entry and exit points) on a wall or support rails bolted together, which are straight or curved run depending on the application. The operation must be carried out by trained individuals. The following transport possibilities between the stops are intended: -

A person in a wheelchair and stable goods, which does not extend over the platform edge. A sitting person on the folding seat.

Intended use in addition, includes regular cleaning, inspection, maintenance and repair. The stairlift is produced according to the valid regulations. However, these rules alone are not sufficient to ensure a safe operation. The operation manual describes the operation and the handling of the machine and must be obeyed by all users precicely to avoid danger to person and machine or material damage. We refer particularly to the chapter: „Safety regulations“ Knowledgeable people who come into contact with the operation, maintenance and installation of the machine must receive a briefing. The operation manual must be accessible and should be kept with the operator or in the vicinity of the machine. The action time of the stairlift is limited with 4380 trips per year.

3

Unintended use of the machine

Misuse as the sole transport of load (devices, fluids, …), the transport of objects which project beyond the platform as well as people without movement restrictions (except a accompanying person) are not permitted. The overloading of the stairlift with more than the permitted load capacity is also one of the misapplications. The platform stairlift system is not suitable for an operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.

4

Operator qualification

The user of the stairlift must have unrestricted mental abilities. The transport of a person with visual impairment and mental limitations is only permitted when an escorting person is controlling the commands. The user must have read and understood the operation manual.

page 3 from 28

5

Guarantee and warranty

Guarantee and warranty does not take place in case of damage which occurs from inadequate knowledge from the operation manual as well as an unintended use of the machine.

6

Safety regulations

! Attention ! Please observe the following safety regulations although your stairlift correspondes to the modern safety specifications.

Symbols used:

1)

2)

3)

The symbols used in this operation manual have the following meanings:

1)

Indicates a point which may occur to imminent danger for personal injury or property damage in case of inobservance.

2)

Indicates a point which may occur to potential danger for personal injury or property damage in case of inobservance.

3)

Indicates a point of further details or additional explanations

Put the lift only into operation afer reading the operation manual and whose adherence, which is mandatory. Never exceed the safe working load. When crossing this maximum load an alarm signal sounds and a warning light flushes up. Excluse unattended and non-conforming use (e.g. by playing children). Do not use the lift in case of fire. Never import solid objects or liquids through slots or other openings. No loose or dangling clothing while in the area of the running rail and the undercarriage when the lift moves. Risk of feeding and getting caught.

Do not place an arm on the safety-barriers or the chassis back when the lift moves.

page 4 from 28

Crushing hazard: Do not put your hands near the running rail when the lift moves. Remove neither machine parts nor control elements. Don´t cut them in two, deform them or use force when operating the the stair-lift. Do not operate the safety-barriers with force, neither while driving nor when opening or closing. (only except at emergency evacuation). Crushing hazard: Stop the travel command immediately if there are any obstacles or objects in or on the track, the driving unit or chassis. Watch while driving the track in the direction of travel. Crushing hazard: When picking up or sending the lift from one of the external control units, the chassis and the track needs to be constantly observed. If the entire track area isn´t fully visible, additional measures will be installed during the installation (mirror, surveillance camera, etc.). NO unnecessary movements on the patform (e.g. luffing, jumping or swinging). No body- and wheelchair-parts may protrude beyond the platform edge.

Use only the handhold or handrail to hold on while driving.

Staying, storing or parking of materials in the travel range is not allowed.

Load-carrying equipment and roadway shall be adequately illuminated by sunlight or electrically. The electric lighting must be independent of timer circuits. The signs of the machine must not removed.

The lift must not be used in hazardous areas.

Repairs must be carried out exclusively by qualified personnel.

Short-term or permanent cleaning or even flooding with water-jet is not permitted. Dirt on the lift must be removed with a standard household cleaner, stainless steel cleaner or a damp cloth. Stairlifts have to be reviewed at least annually by a qualified person. The result is to be recorded in a test-book and we recommend to get in contact with the manufacturer for this inspection.

page 5 from 28

When the lift is used without assistant or an auxiliary person it is absolutely necessary to take additional measures to be able to call help in case of an unexpected standstill (break from a drive element, power failure, perturbation, etc.). If the system does not have an external alarm system we recommend to carry a cordless- or mobile phone.

Technical safety equipment and proper use results in a relatively safe machine. Nevertheless, the user will be required to operate the plant conscientiously.

7

Transport, installation, connection and removal

The Transport and the installation as well as the electrical connection of the stair lift may only done by the company GANSER or their authorized partner companies. The dismantling and removal of the stairlift after its service-time has also to be carried out by a specialized company. Comply with the relevant legal provisions when disposing of the units.

The wall structure of the supporting wall is to be considered during the installation from the lift. According the forces occurring (extraction forces) the mounting material (plugs, anchors) is to be selected (see installation documents).

General description

Our products combine in a suitable manner the requirements of stairs overcome with the outstanding integration in the familiar environment. On one hand, the upper rail tube can be used as a handrail, on the other hand are the chassis and the track is powder coated according a RAL-color of your choice. The rail doesn´t need to be lubricated, so unwanted impurities are excluded. The maximum load capacity depends on the stair-lift design: 225 kg or 300 kg. The maximum platform size is 800 mm x 1250 mm and the operating speed does not exceed 0,15 m/s and the stair-lift is driven by gear drive. The continuous sound pressure level is below 70 dB (A). The load-handling-device is connected by four rollers and two drive gears with the rail. The rollers are guided by two parallel round stainless steel profiles. An electric motor drives the gears via a self-locking worm gear in form-locking manner, thereby all the horizontal and vertical forces occurring can be absorbed. The track system consists of two stainless steel tubes with mounting straps. This is attached to an existing wall, fixed on columns or a steel construction. A safety catch prevents sliding down the platform-stairlift along the rail in case of destruction of a drive element.

11 Handling 11.1 Fetching and Sending from the chassis Crushing hazard: When picking up or sending the lift from one of the external control units, the chassis and the track needs to be constantly observed. If the entire track area isn´t fully visible, additional measures will be installed during the installation (mirror, surveillance camera, etc.). When fetching and sending the chassis, make sure that the driving area can be clearly seen and no one can be injured on the stairs. Fetching and sending the landing gear may only be in folded condition. From every stop the stair lift can be fetched or send to another stop. For this, the key switch at the corresponding external control point is to turn to position -ON- and proceed as follows:

Fetch / Send the chassis from the upper to the lower stop: Press steadily the button / for downwards. After a delay time of maximum 2 seconds the chassis starts moving to the lower stop.

Fetch / Send the chassis from the lower to the upper stop: Press steadily the button / for upwards. After a delay time of maximum 2 seconds the chassis starts moving to the upper stop.

11.2 Moving from the platform and the safety barriers to be able to drive with or walk on the load-carrying-equipment. Make sure that there is enough space in front of the platform and avoid any crushing hazards when lowering the platform. Risk of breakage and damage. Never exceed the safe working load. Signal light comes on and a buzzer sounds when the stair-lift is overloaded. On the stair-lift system, the movements of the platform and the safety barriers are automatically (electromechanical). Operation is as follows:

POSITION: Lower stop / (Lowering from the platform) - Press the push-button steadily  The platform moves down and the safety barriers open/fold-up.

POSITION: Upper stop / (Lowering from the platform) - Press the push-button steadily  The platform moves down and the uphill security barrier open/fold-up. The downhill safesty barrier closes (horizontal position). Turn the key switch in the OFF position after completed movement and then remove the key and move onto the platform.

page 16 from 28

11.3 Driving the stair-lift Crushing hazard: Stop the travel command immediately if there are any obstacles or objects in or on the rail, the chassis or the driving range. Watch while driving the rail in the direction of travel. Risk of feeding or getting caught. NO hanging clothes in the area of the running rail and the chassis when the lift is moving.

Do not place an arm on the safety barriers or the chassis back when the lift is moving. Risk of falling: NO unnecessary movements on the patform (e.g. luffing, jumping or swinging).

Release the button after finished moving operations and leave the platform.

page 17 from 28

11.4 Moving from the platform and the safety-barriers to bring the stair-lift in the park position (start position). Make sure that no objects or body parts can be pinched when folding-up the platform. After leaving the platform turn the key on the particular external stop to the –ON- Position.

POSITION: Upper stop / Lower stop / (fold-up from the platform) - Press the push-button steadily  Lowering from the safety-barriers, folding-up from the platform.

After completed movements turn the key in –OFF-Position and remove the key.

The upper rail can be also used as a handrail and to leave the stairs the highest possible passage-width in most cases the lower station is used as a parking station. In this case the chassis should be sent from the upper to the lower stop.

page 18 from 28

12 Emergency situation The stair-lift is equipped with an emergency call button that allows a person to call for help. When this button is pressed you will hear an emergency signal. During a power outage, the emergency button and the emergency lights on the platform are still served from the battery power. The emergency call button should always be connected to a system to ensure that, if necessary, assistance can be initiated. This can be for example a continuously staffed concierge, an alarm center or a connection to the telephone network. Basically, it is also advisable to carry a cordless or mobile phone with you in order to call for help.

12.1 Operation with the emergency crank The operation with the emergency crank is only necessary when a technical fault happened or the saftey catch had been automatically activated and should only be used in these cases. The stairlift can be moved manually by means of emergency crank. The insertion opening of the emergency crank is provided with a limit switch, which interrupts the automatic movements and when the emergency crank is inserted, the stairlift can´t be run by inching operation. Handling of the emergency crank: a) Press the emergency stop button on the chassis. b) Insert the supplied emergency crank into the opening on the chassis and rotate in the appropriate direction.

It should always be approached the lower station (less effort in turning the emergency crank). The respective direction of rotation is indicated on the chassis. This activity requires relatively large time and effort for the user!

page 19 from 28

12.2 Evacuation of a person from the stair-lift In order to help a person out of the stair-lift, proceed as follows: a) Open the uphill (mountain-side) safety barrier by hand with increased effort (Slipping clutch). Attention – Risk of falling! When opening the downhill safety barrier also the downhill ramp opens at the same time and so there is danger of falling if the stair-lift is not at the lower stop. b) Now the person can be secured out of the stair-lift to the mountain side.

Fold up the platform by hand and secure it by appropriate means (loop of emergency crank, belt or rope) in order to keep the staircase free.

12.3 Unlock of the safety catch If the safety catch has activated the stair-lift has to be inspected by an authorized dealer. Unlocking the safety catch must be conducted by an authorized dealer.

page 20 from 28

13 Options / Extras Depending on your needs the stair-lift is equipped with subsequent extras.

13.1 Remote control This equipment allows the operator the greatest possible freedom in the operation of the stair-lift. You don´t has to rely on the steady-state control units at the stops and on the chassis. You are able to control the lift via a small transmitter that can be carried everywhere. The receiving part is located inside the chassis and transmits the signal to the control system. Due to the elimination of external controls, the system is largely secured against vandalism and willful damage.

13.2 Eemergency call Stair-lifts who are operated in the public area must be equipped with an emergency device which is directly located on the load-carrying equipment.

There are two versions: - A bell in the interior of the chassis which is powered by a separate battery. - A gong which is controlled via radio and supplied with a separate battery. The transmitter is located in the interior of the chassis and transmits the emergency signal to the gong (wireless). The range is between 40 m (in open space) and minimum 10 m (in constructed areas). But also for the private sector is an emergency system or the entrainment of a cordless or a mobile phone highly recommended!

13.3 Access ramp on the third side and downhill roll bar In some cases the two standard access ramps can´t be used because of the situation and the limited space in front of the first step. In these cases an additional ramp on the third side (long side) of the platform and an additional roll bar on the downhill-side will be installed if it is necessary.
