SYLOBLOC Silica Antiblocking Agents
SYLOBLOC® Silica Antiblocking Agents
Principles of Silica Antiblocking Agents Our manufacturing process can be tailored to provide a broad array of product attributes. Blocking is the adhesion or bonding of two surfaces of film that occurs after production and/or during prolonged storage. Layers of polymer film tend to stick together, which is undesirable for stacked packaging and film processing & converting. Fast and damage-free unrolling of film is important. This “blocking” phenomenon is especially severe with polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester films.
Pore Volume
SYLOBLOC® silica: • Imparts a micro-rough surface to the film, resulting in less film-to-film layer contact
High Pore Volume
• Reduce blocking between the individual layers of film
Low Pore Volume
Differing manufacturing processes result in varying degrees of internal porosity. The higher the porosity, the more efficient the antiblocking grade will be.
• Has an extensive product portfolio to include tailormade products for different film thicknesses and polymer types

Integrated
SYLOBLOC® silica antiblocking agents can be delivered into a polymer melt or masterbatch in a number of forms: as a standard plain silica or in combination with other organic additives. The combination grades can be provided as physical blends, integrated blends, or pelletized blends.
Pelletized
In addition to efficiencies gained by combining several additives into one package, our combination grades provide advantages in handling through reduced dusting and improved flow characteristics.
Pelletized
SYLOBLOC® Silica Combination Products We can provide a single solution to meet the complete additive needs of our customers.
Physical Blends
Produced in a unique cold homogenization process consisting of two or more additives, one of which is a SYLOBLOC® silica antiblocking agent.
Integrated Combination Products
Produced in a specialized mixing process where the organic additives are integrated into the pore volume of the SYLOBLOC® silica antiblocking agent.
Pelletized Silica Blends (PelSibs)
Manufactured in a patented process to produce non-dusting pellets in custom formulations of SYLOBLOC® silica antiblocking agents and other additives.
Advantages: • Dust reduction • Ease of handling • Reduced moisture uptake • Constant and homogeneous delivery of the entire additive package
Physical Blends
• Less off-spec output • Cost savings through elimination of product loss via separate transportation, handling, and conveyance of multiple additives Available as standard products or as custom formulations of integrated or pelletized combinations.
