EQUIPMENT NUMERAL CALCULATOR FOR A SHIP Welcome! This excel spreadsheet calculates the Equipment number for a Ship from DNV rules. It further recommends specifications for the anchoring and mooring equipment for the vessel

Directions: Enter all the particulars and the deckhouse/superstructure information required in the Inputs sheet. The Input cells are in blue. For profile area of superstructures/deckhouses, the default value from formula is given. If the actual profile area is different from the default, the user can enter the actual area. Once all inputs have been given, the Equipment number is calculated in Outputs sheet. Based on the Equipment Number and DNV Rules, the minimum required anchoring/mooring equipment number and specifications are also recommended Formula

EN = Δ2/3 + 2 B H + 0.1 A Δ = Rule Displacement in MT B = Rule Breadth in m H = effective height in m from the summer load waterline to the top of the uppermost deckhouse, measured as follows: H = a + Σ hi a = distance in m from the summer load waterline amidships to the upper deck at side (Freeboard) hi = height in m on the center line of each tier of houses having a breadth greater than B/4. For the lowest tier, hi shall be measured at center line from the upper deck, or from a notional deck line where there is local discontinuity in the upper deck

Note 1 Please include only those deckhouses and superstructures which have a width > B/4 (See Fig 1).Where a house having a breadth greater than B/4 is above a house with a breadth of B/4 or less, the upper house is to be included and the lower ignored 2 Please see Fig 2 for help on how to add area for bulwark > 1.5 m 3 If the profile area of an item is different from the default value (hi x Li), then it needs to be input in the respective cell 4 The height has to be entered at centerline 5 A general naming has been adopted for deckhouses (Deckhouse - A,B, C etc.). Please input the specific names of the deckhouses. Any new deckhouses or other structures can be added to the rows designated 'Other'. If an item is not applicable (e.g., if there is no forecastle) then input the hi and Li and Profile area for the item as zero (0).
