Cargo Description:
Cargo Shipped
: 2 x Bell equipment machines
The shipment comprised of 2 bell machines one a bulldozer the other a Wheel loader, being presented for shipment as follows: A 6.8meter Bulldozer fitted with blade and all accessories, steel track driven. The 8 metre Wheel loader fitted with bucket and all accessories, wheel driven were delivered by Natro transport on the 16th May 2007 to be shipped on the vessel Blue Sky voyage 68N. The Wheel loader machine was offloaded and stored inside SAPO warehouse and the bulldozer was offloaded and stored outside on the quay side due to the fact that the machine was on tracks. 2. Loading, Stowage, Lashing and Securing Once the vessel was ready for the two machines to be loaded they were manoeuvred to alongside the vessel under the relevant cargo hook. The Bulldozer machine was uplifted using a six meter spreader beam with two michnon chains slung under the tracks. The chains were fitted to either side of the spreader beam. The Wheel loader machine was uplifted using four container wire legs, which were shackled to the machine in the front and rear on the hooking points supplied on the machine. The machines were handled direct into their place of stow, using the vessels own cargo working gear. They were stowed in bay 17 on deck with their lengths in a fore and aft direction. Twelve meter containers were stowed either side of the tanks, and a six meter container behind them. The machines were secured using chain lashings with tensioners placed at intervals along the length of each machine.

Photographs covering the loading operation can be found appended to this report.
4.
General Condition Report:
The condition of the machines was considered to be in a good condition, with no damages noted prior to shipment and during the loading operation. Although when the six meter container was being position in to stow, the container rubbed and bumped the blade on the left side of the Bulldozer causing some scratches and removal of paint on the blade. Please see photos attached. 5.
Remarks/ Conclusion
We are of the opinion that the loading operation was conducted in a good fashion, as both SAPO and the stevedores emphasised extreme caution while handling the machines.
Signed at Cape Town on this 24 th day of May 2007.
