This Japanese Industrial Standard has been prepared based on the fi.rst edition of ISO 16143-1 published in 2004 and the first editions of ISO 9445-L and ISO 9445'2 published in 2009 with some modifications of the technical contents. The portions given eontinuous sidelines are the matters in which the contents of the corresponding International Standards have been modified. Manufacturingmethod. The manufacturing method shall be as follows.

Plates and strip shall be heat treated after cold'rolling and glven acid pickling or an equivalent treatment. As required, levelling, grinding, temper rolling or a combination of these treatments may be performed. For plates and strip gLven bright heat treatment, however, treatments such as acid pickling may be omitted upon agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. NOTE : Representative heat treatment conditions are shown in Annex JA for reference. Other conditions than given in the Annex can be applied.

For plates or strip of SUS420J2 and SUS440A, if especially designated by the purchaser, quenching and tempering may be performed. In this case, symbol Q shall be attaehed to the designation.
c)
For plates or strip of SUS630 and SUS63L, the purchaser shall designate either the solution treatment or precipitation hardening treatment. In this case, a symbol indieating the type of heat treatment given in table 2 shall be attached to the designation. Table

Tolerances on thiekness
Tolerances on thickness shall be as follows.
9.3.1
Tolerances on thickness of plates and strip
Ttre tolerances on thickness of plates shall be as given in table 20. The tolerances on thickness of strip shall be as given in table 2L. However, the purchaser can designate the thickness tolerances in table 22 (symbol ET) or table 23 (symbol ST).
For thickness of plates, the measuring position shall be any point 15 mm or over from the edge of plate. For thickness of strip, the measuring position shall be any point 25 mm or over from the edge of strip for mill edge strips 50 mm or over in width, and the centre of strip width for mill edge strips less than 50 mm in \ ridth. The measuring position for cut edge strip shall be any point 15 mm or over from the edge of strip for strips 30 mm or over in width, and the centre of strip width for strips less than 30 mm in width. This does not apply to the irregular portions at the beginning and the end of a strip.
