Alphabet Sentences

By Anne Gardner

Many thanks for your purchase! I hope you find these Alphabet Sentences useful. I am dedicated to creating products that help kids build confidence with early literacy skills. These Alphabet Sentences are designed with a high level of picture support. Because of the highly supportive format, children can learn foundational skills while also refining letter identification skills. These Alphabet Sentences can be read during small group instruction, chorally with your whole class and/or in literacy centers. These sentences are designed to be introduced at school, and then sent home for repeated practice. I encourage kids to color in a star each time they read the page, and then to bring it back to me when they have filled in all the stars. I often offer a small treat when kids return these completed sheets. After the original set of Alphabet Sentences, I have added nine practice pages on which the letters are mixed. I find that this is helpful for review and for students who are familiar with most letters. On these sheets, I included each letter at least twice so if a student needs help reading the first sentence, he/she can most often experience success reading the next sentence focusing on the same letter. If you have comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Sincerely,

Anne Gardner ( NBCT Literacy) •Please note: This purchase gives you a lifetime license for use with the students in your class. If you have colleagues who would like to use this work, please refer them to my shop.

Very First Alphabet Sentences Dear Parents, Your child will be bringing home a set of Very First Alphabet sentence sheets. These sentences are designed to help your child build confidence with letter identification while also learning basic foundational skills. Repeated reading of these sentences will be very helpful as your child develops early literacy skills. Please have your child read at least one of the sheets to you every night. Please have your child touch each word as he/she reads and provide support as needed to help your child read accurately.

Each time your child reads a full page, please have him/her color in one star on the bottom of the sheet. When your child has filled in all the stars on a sheet, please send it back and he/she will win a little treat. It would also be very helpful to have your child write one of these sentences or a sentence using similar words. Please help your child start each sentence with a capital letter and leave large “2 finger spaces” between words. Many thanks for your support helping your child develop early reading skills. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely,
