The electronic control system has the following components: 

Electronic Control Module (ECM)



Pressure sensors



Temperature sensors



Speed/Timing sensors



Solenoids

The ECM functions as the governor for the engine. The ECM modulates the quantity of fuel and injection timing in order to govern the engine. The ECM can activate the following starting aids: 

Ether injection



Cycling of injector solenoids

The ECM will provide the operator with an illuminated warning light if the engine senses an engine problem. The operator may also experience an engine derate. The warning light or the engine derate could turn off during engine operation. The diagnostic code will be logged in the ECM. The diagnostic code can then be diagnosed at a later time. The ECM is password protected in order to secure calibration of the ECM and customer programmed information. The calibration can be adjusted with flash files by authorized dealers. The flash file is programmed into the personality module.
