During my study, the phenomenon of how the properties of materials changes when we go up to the nanoscale( 1-100nm) first caught my attention, developing my keen interest in Material Science, hence wish to pursue my masters in this field. I have been fortunate to have been accepted in Master’s program in Material science and Simulation at Ruhr University Bochum. Selecting Ruhr University is a sensible decision. It has top placement in German wide University Ranking.

Why Ruhr University?

The reason I am attracted towards Ruhr University is because this Master degree program (“Material science and simulation”) is basically an interdisciplinary program which is conducted by the Research center ICAMS (Interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Material Simulation) at Ruhr university. ICAMS have a bridge of interdisciplinary team of scientists from engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Also ICAMS is linked to the Institute of Materials (RUB), the Department of Ferrous Metallurgy (RWTH-Aachen) and the Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research (Düsseldorf) which is the compelling reason for choosing this University. So along with the theoretical work, I also get a chance of practical work at one of these famous Institute.

But they don’t offer any interdisciplinary program in Material science and Simulation. By studying at Ruhr University along with the study and properties of different Materials and fabrication techniques, I will get a chance to learn different simulation tools for multi-scale materials modeling with the aim of reducing development cost and time for new materials

Future plan and scope in Pakistan

Throughout whole life, I have seen Energy Crisis as a root cause of all problems in Pakistan, therefore, I thought to do something for the betterment of Power & to overcome this energy crises. My future perspective is to ensure a viable technology; materials that are highly efficient for the direct conversion of solar into electrical energy yet less costly must be developed. In Pakistan, such kind of research is not being carried out yet, so when I return, I shall be able to benefit my country fellows and their future generations.

I believe this program will be useful to develop and enhance my professional skills and utilize these skills in future profession. So I am looking forward to being a part of this prestigious graduate program.
