The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology. Instructions are easy to follow if you are familiar with basic crochet techniques.

Materials:

“Giraffe lovey” Baby shower Designed by Rnata

• 2.5 mm hook (or 2.00 mm) • Cotton yarn (I used Alize cotton baby “soft”, 50% cotton) - Light yellow - Brown • Black embroidery thread • Stuffing • Yarn needle • Stitch marker

The size of the giraffe lovey is approximately 25 cm long with ears. It may vary though depending on the kind of yarn and hook size used. You can also use any color of yarn. Feel free to add accessories to your very own giraffe toy.

HEAD Use light yellow yarn.

EARS (make 2) Use the light yellow yarn.

How to finish: Using the long tail of yarn, start from second loop. Sew the opening through the front loops by going across each stitch (fig 8, 9).

EYES and NOSE

HORNS (make 2) Use the brown yarn.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring [6] Rnd 2: (inc) x6 [12] Rnd 3-4: sc around [12], 2 rounds Change the yarn to light yellow. • Tip: make sure, that your first stitch of

new round would be yellow. How to change the color of yarn: With the two loops from the previous yarn on the hook (fig 15), wrap the new yarn around the hook, then pull the new yarn through the two loops of the stitch (fig 16). 15

Embroider the eyes 4 st long and 4 st inbetween using the black embroidery thread. Attach the pins between rounds 17 and 18. Skip the 12 st from beginning, attach the first pin, then skip 4 st and attach the second, skip next 4 st, attach third pin, and last skip next 4 st and attach the fourth (fig 18) 18

At first embroider the small 3 eyelashes one st height, then eye 4 st long. Embroider the eye thicker then eyelashes (fig 19, 20, 21)

Place the horns on top of head and sew it around (fig 24, 25). 24

Sew the ears to head between rounds 6 and 9 (fig 26). 26

BODY Legs (make 2): Use the light yellow yarn.

Crochet 1 sc more (in first and second leg) after round 7 to bring the tail of yarn in the corner (fig 29). Fasten off the first leg. Don’t cut the yarn in the second leg. We continue to connect two legs together. Chain 3 (fig 31), then insert the hook in next stitch of first leg (fig 32) and make a sc. It will be the first st of body and new beginning. Put your stitch marker here. 30

TAIL Use the light yellow yarn.

Ch 15. Make sure your chain isn’t twisted. In second chain from hook: slst in each chain st [14] Cut the yarn leaving a tail for sewing. Cut the 3-4 pieces of brown yarn 2 cm long (fig 53). Insert your hook in the tail and pick up the brown threads and pull it through (fig 54). Wrap the thread few times around and make two knots (fig 55). 53

COLLAR Use the brown yarn.
