1. Introduction 1.1 Overview This instruction manual provides the vessel designer, engineer and the crews with the information required for the installation, operation and maintenance of ISS-N type sewage treatment plant. This instruction manual should be fully understood by the related persons to secure the safety of the workers and proper operation of the equipment.
1.2 Warranty IL SEUNG warrants the quality of the product in case when the crews performed proper operation and maintenance according to the manual, within the warranty period. If the warranty period has not been otherwise agreed, the warranty period expires 18 month after the delivery of the equipment to the shipyard or 12 months from the completion of commissioning, whichever comes first.
1.3 Out of Warranty Malfunctions or any defect of the product related to followings are excluded from the warranty. Modification of the equipment without the prior, written consent of IL SEUNG When the maintenance has not been performed according to the instruction manual. Use of not genuine or not recommended spare part Repaired by unqualified person. Damaged by the force measure

2. Safety Instruction 2.1 Safety in Operation Service In order to keep the design capacity of the sewage treatment, the following must be observed in proper manner. Use the toilet paper which is well resolvable in water. Do not throw any foreign substances into toilet bowl such as rubber products, cotton, cloth or vinyl. operation of sewage treatment equipment except only in emergency case, since the oxygen deficiency will cause the death of microorganisms in the sewage treatment tanks and will make loss of treating capability of the unit. The death of microorganisms will make toxic gas with stench in each processing tank and it can cause the clogging of the air supply tube. It takes one week at least to revive the microorganisms again. Do not put fingers or foreign materials in the rotating parts of the aeration blower or discharge pump. Do not use cleaning chemical for toilet such as hydrochloric acid, insecticides, deodorants etc. which may kill the microorganisms in the sewage treatment tank. When it has been used, be sure to discharge it directly overboard. After discharging, it must be cleaned with fresh water enough. Recommend to use the same type of water for cleaning, dilution of sewage treatment plant and toilet flushing used in normal operation of the vessel. Sudden change or mixture of the flushing water (like as fresh water to seawater) will have an adverse effect on the living condition of the microorganisms, since it may cause to destroy the microbial eco-system in the sewage treatment plant and in this case, re-incubation period for microorganisms may take longer than normal. Sodium hypochlorite solution is used in the sewage treatment system. Keep the storage container of this chemical be sealed to prevent leaking of the harmful gas for human. Close the top cover of the tanks and each inspection cover during the operation, to prevent the outflow of such harmful gas or stench. Make sure not to block the ventilation piping.

2.2 Safety in Maintenance Repair of electrical and/or mechanical equipment should be done by the authorized person who has sufficient technical knowledge and skills. glasses and rubber gloves when handling the sodium hypochlorite solution. Be careful not to inhale the gas of this chemical. In case when it touches the bear skin, wash enough with running fresh water. Confirm that ventilation system is performed well before starting of inspection inside of the tank or maintenance work, Shut off the electrical power of the control panel prior to the maintenance work of driving unit or each tank inside. During the maintenance period, put the warning tags on the outside of panel, such as "Power Off for M Do not have the welding work on the sewage treatment plant. The inside of the sewage treatment plant is coated with phenol (#3, 4 tanks) and epoxy paint (other tanks) to prevent from the corrosion. Welding heat will make damages to the coating, which may be the cause of corrosion of the tanks.

3. Specification 3.1 Treatable Sewage Based on the regulation of 73/78 MAPOL, the ISS-N STP is able to treat following sewages. Sewage from the Toilet Sewage from the Shower Room, Laundry and Gallery Sewage of which salinity level is less than max. 36,500 ppm
3.2 Environmental Operating Condition ISS-N Sewage Treatment Plant is designed to perform in the following environmental operating conditions. Do have prior consultation with IL SEUNG, if the operating of the plant should be done in different conditions. Temperature around the Unit (Ambient Temperature) : 2 ~ 50 Humidity around the Unit (Humidity) : 80% or Less Tilting Tolerance of the Unit (Inclination) : Max 22.5° Normal Operation, Hour/Day : 24 Hours
3.3 Quality Standard of Treated Sewage The following table shows the quality standard of treated sewage in accordance with the regulation of IMO MEPC 227(64)

8.5 Aeration Blower and Accessary 8.5.1 General Aeration blower supplies air necessary for a maintaining of optimal living condition for the aerobic microorganisms in the reactor tank and also for a transfer of the sludge returned from the sedimentation tank, and the air volume can be adjusted by the valves installed in each tank and the pipe. Note that, as the blowing air volume of each blowing pipe is already set by the orifices before delivery, open those blowing valves fully during normal operation of the equipment.
8.5.2 Cleaning of Aeration Blower Filter Clean the aeration filter every month. .
1) Turn off the blower switch and close the valves of the air supply pipes 2) Remove the screws on the blower filter cover and take out the filter element. 3) Clean the filter with a compressed air. 4) Insert the filter in place and tighten the screws on the blower filter cover. And then open the valves of the air supply pipes. 5) Turn on the blower switch.

8.5.4 Other Check Points for Aeration Blower
(1) Check whether the temperature of motor surface is higher than 80 . (2) Inject grease to the bearings periodically if the bearing is xxxxZ type. (Use No.2 Grease)
(1) Close the discharge valve of aeration blower or cock when the aeration blower is stopped. (2) For the repair or maintenance of the aeration blower, cut off the main power circuit breaker and attach a warning tag as M board.

8.6.2 Adjustment of Chemical Injection Volume By spinning of Dial , set the chemical injection volume and then, tighten the fixing screw . The chemical injection volume can be adjusted from 0% to 100% with the Dial
Dial of chemical pump is set in the factory before delivery. Therefore, do not adjust the dial without right knowledge on it.

8.6.3 Handling of Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) (1) It is lemon yellow colored oxidative fluid. Be careful not to contact with bear skin, cloth and etc. (2) When it contacted with the eyes, nose or mouth, wash immediately with clean water and go to doctor. (3) For the handling of this fluid, wear rubber glove, rubber boots and etc. (4) Do not inhale the gas and work in the place with the good air ventilation. 8.7 Discharge Pump 8.7.1 Structure of Discharge Pump
Fig. 8 Discharge Pump
8.7.2 Maintenance Procedures Check the direction of pump rotation (Looked from behind : Clockwise) Air in the flow of fluid shall be removed frequently for the prevention of pump cavitation. (Open the suction and discharge valves of pump and fill with the water to remove air until the air does not come out from the air vent cock in the pump body.) Keep the discharge and suction valves of spare pump that is not used be closed Avoid idling of the pump. In case of sudden variation of the electric currency and pressure discharge rate, abnormal temperature rise of the motor, vibration, and abnormal sound the pump shall be stopped immediately to determine the causes. For a long-term stop and repair of the pump, the suction and discharge valve of the pump should be closed. To prepare for the risk of freezing in the winter, drain the water in the equipment completely by opening of the drain valve provided in the pump bottom. This pump operates automatically in normal condition, therefore, when any trouble occurs, do maintenance or repair after changing of the AUTO/MANU S/W to MANU position and cut off the main power switch. During operation, check the amount of leakage from mechanical seal to decide the replacement Tolerance 3cc/H r( 1 Drop/min) Replace if there is continuous dropping. Normal value of the discharging pressure of pump : 0 ~ 3.6 kg/cm
The pressure can be changed depending on the S.W.L and installation level of sewage treatment plant. Published on 20150824
