Material You need Crochet hook size 3.25mm Acrylic worsted yarn (UK: Aran) (Saffron Yellow / Off-white / Dark brown / Black) Polyester Fiberfill stuffing (or similar) Ø 12mm safety eyes 15mm safety nose Yarn needle Scissors Stitch marker Pins

Tips and suggestions before starting Keep tension tight or use a smaller hook: Tyrion was made with 100% acrilyc yarn (KATIA PLANET). It is a worsted yarn recommended for 4,5-5mm crochet hooks. I used a crochet hook size 3.25m. Aproximated size of Tyrion: 25cm when seated / 35cm from head to toe.

You are going to work crocheting in a continuous spiral, do not join the rounds. Use a locking stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the beginning of the rounds. Stuff with polyester filling as you go and keep doing that as the hole becomes smaller. Add stuffing until the last moment: use small bits of stuffing and push them into with the back of your crochet hook (unless specified otherwise). If you don't have safety eyes and a nose, you can replace them with embroidery (it's recommended for children under 3 years old)

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing, and pull the working loop all the way out until the end of the yarn has been pulled through the middle of the last stitch.

Now you are going to join both cheeks. Put the 2 nd cheek on top of the 1st cheek (right side of both cheeks facing out). With the yarn needle and the tail of the first cheek, sew through 4 stitches working into the loops of both cheeks (FIGURE A / PICTURE A). Secure with a double knot and hide loose end in the wrong side. Done! (PICTURE B). You will sew them onto the face later.

Before continuing with the head, stop here to sew the cheeks onto the face and attach safety eyes and nose.

Place safety eyes between rounds 10-11, with 15 sc between.

1

Safety nose will be placed between rounds 3-4. Insert the nose centered to eyes but don't install the washer yet. Pull it out again, you only want the gap to be marked.

2

Place cheeks centered, the way the gap you left for the nose is in the edge of the vertex between cheeks. Use a pin to hold cheeks in place.

3

15 sc between

With a long piece of black yarn, embroidrer the detail between cheeks. Secure it in the back and repeat the process if necessary.

Sew the cheeks. Stuff them with polyester filling before finishing.

5

Now it is time to install the nose in the gap you left before.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail, and pull the working loop all the way out until the end of the yarn has been pulled through the middle of the last stitch. Thread the yarn end into a yarn needle and bring your needle under the front loop of the next stitch. Repeat the last step for each of the remaining stitches in the last round. Pull the yarn end to tighten and close the hole. Secure it with a knot and insert the yarn needle back into the piece, through the center of the hole and hide the loose end inside the head.

ADDING EXPRESSION TO TYRION'S EYES Once you have finished with the head, you are going to add some character to Tyrion creating an expression with the eyes: Cut a long piece of yarn in the same color you used for crocheting the head, thread the yarn needle and insert it above the top edge of the left eye, between rounds 10-11 (PICTURE A) and push it horizontally towards the same place in the right eye (PICTURE B), pull the needle and yarn out until you leave a tail coming out where you sarted. Wrap the yarn over one stitch down, between rounds 9-10 (PICTURE C) and push the needle horizontally towards the same place in the left side of the head, again above the top edge of the eye (PICTURE D), pull the yarn all the way out. Now wrap the yarn over one stitch and repeat what you did in pictures A and B (PICTURES E/F). Pull the yarn again all the way out and cut it leaving a tail similar to the one placed on the left side of the head (PICTURE G). Pull both tails out gently at the same time until you sculpt Tyrion's expression the way you want (PICTURE H). Once you got it secure each tail with a double knot and hide the loose ends inside the head.

Once here, you are going to close the arm, make sure you did not stuff the last rounds. To close the arm, fold it in half, and from where you stop, crochet 4 sc through the stitches of both parts (PICTURES A-B). Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail, and pull the working loop all the way out until the end of the yarn has been

EMBROIDER THE CLAWS Cut a long black piece of yarn, thread your yarn needle and embroider the claws following the steps below:

Insert the yarn needle in the same place you did it in step 1 and pull it out on the left between R7-8 with 2 sc between the previous one.

Pull the yarn all the way and wrap the yarn to the botton again, between R3-4 and 2 sc separation. Pull it out on the right as in step 3.

Put the arm with the 'curved' side facing you. Insert the yarn needle in the bottom, centered, between rounds 3-4.

Pull it out vertically between rounds 7-8. Pull the yarn until you leave a tail coming out from where you started.

Wrap the yarn to the bottom again and insert it, same rounds and separation as in step 4. This time pull it out through where you started.

You will have two yarn tails coming out from the beginning hole. Make 2/3 knots with them (Do not pull too tight the first knot).

Again thread your yarn needle with the both tails at the same time and insert your yarn needle again through the same hole.

Pull them out somewhere else in the top side. Pull gently until the knots you made disappear inside the arm. Cut the loose ends.

Before continue with the assembly of the rest of parts, you are going to make Tyrion's mane. This process takes a lot of time, so be patient! :)

HOW TO CREATE HAIR FOR TYRION'S MANE Step 1) Cut out a piece of cardboard (or similar) about 5 cm high, so the hair will have the same size. Keep in mind that if you have used a different hook size or yarn weight, maybe you should adapt the hair size to your needs. Step 2) Make a small cut with the scissors on one top side of the cardboard (this will help us to hold the yarn, you will understand it on step 4). Step 3) Place the beginning of the yarn on the paperboard and hold it with your finger. Step 4) Wrap the yarn lengthwise around the cardboard towards where you did the small cut. Once you reach the cut part, insert the yarn inside to hold it. NOTE: Do not tighten the yarn too much when wrapping it around the cardboard. Step 5) Cut the yarn along the top edge of the cardboard. Step 6) Now you will have separate strands that are twice the length you need them to be. Don't worry; the hair will be the right length once you attach it. Repeat steps 3 to 6 when you need more hair.

ATTACHING TYRION'S HAIR - Place Tyrion facing down, you are going to attach the hair in the same way you crochet. I'm Right-Handed, so I have explained it in a counterclockwise way. If you are Left-Handed you will be attaching the hair clockwise (PICTURE 1). You will start attaching hair in the holes between rounds 13-14 of the head (if you have doubts where is it check out PICTURE B on page 10 again). - Take one of your cut strands of yarn and fold it in half (PICTURE 2), insert your hook through the first stitch (the one closest to the body). Grab the yarn and slide the crochet hook back out of the stitch, pulling the yarn strand with it by about 1/2 cm (PICTURES 3/4). - Use your fingers to hold the tails ends of the yarn strand and with your hook grab and pull them through the small loop (PICTURES 5/6). - Gently tug on them to tighten the knot. You've just attached your first strand! (PICTURE 7). - Go for the next stitch. Use the same method you just did to attach more strands of yarn to Tyrions head (PICTURES 8/9). Note: As you are working in a continuos spiral, when you have reached the starting point you will see that you are one round higher (PICTURE 10). Keep going until you filled the entire head. Add extra strands at the top to cover it completely. (PICTURES 11/12).

Now it's time to attach some hair over the shoulders and chest: - Using the same method, you are going to attach hair through the marked stitches on PICTURE 1. On the first and second rounds attach hair all the way around (also in the back). From the 3rd do it only in the stitches marked on the front side, in a V-shapped way. (It does not need to be exactly as in th picture) - You will get something like PICTURE 2, it seems that someone needs to go to the hairdresser! Use your fingers to brush the yarn hair how you want it to lay and cut it out a bit in a V-shapped way (PICTURE 3). Note: Check out both sides and back, keep brushing the hair and make some more cuts if it is necessary.
