DIFFERENT TYPES OF LASHING AND DUNNAGES

Wire rope -

Wire ropes are used for a variety of maritime operations. Applied onboard all types of marine vessels including ships, large boats, drilling units, etc. these ropes are chosen for their flexibility, breaking strength, resistance to deformation and bending, anti-corrosion and antifrictional properties.

Shackles and Turnbuckle -

Turnbuckles are used to tension a ship's cargo container lashing. The securing device has two screw ends, of which one is welded to the ship's deck with a lashing plate. The other screw end is attached to a lashing bar, connected with a container corner casting.

Chains -

The chains were small platforms, built on either side of the hull of a ship, used to provide a wide purchase for the shrouds, and to assist in the practice of depth sounding. The chains provided a platform for a 'leadsman', the sailor assigned to swing the sounding line, or 'lead' into the water.

Fiber Rope -

Natural fibre ropes and hawsers used on board a general cargo vessel. All natural fibre rope is manufactured from manilla, sisal, hemp, coir, cotton or flax fibres. The process of manufacture consists of twisting the fibres into yarns and turning the yarns in an opposite direction to establish the strands.

Webbing -

Webbing is a strong fabric woven as a flat strip or tube of varying width and fibres, often used in place of rope.

cutting leave a minimum of debris.

Steel Banding -

Steel banding and strapping is designed for heavier, palletized loads; plywood cases and wooden crates; and sharp-edged objects. Stainless steel band and stainless steel buckles are used throughout the marine industry on all types of sea going vessels.

Sea Fastenings -

Sea fastening supports are used during transportation. They shall be designed/placed in such a way that their cutting is done at the minimum required time and after

Container Lashing Equipments -Fixed and loose fittings used for the reliable securing of containers.

- Fixed fittings – Stacking cones, foundations, deck foundations, lashing plates, lashing eyes, lashing pots, d-rings. Fixed fittings are integrated into the hull structure or fitted on double bottom or hatch covers.

- Loose fittings – Twistlocks, stackers, bridge fittings, tension/pressure elements, spanners, lashing rods and turnbuckles.
