IPX S@E MANAGER Chapter 1 IPX S@E MANAGER 1. 1 Introducing the IPX configuration program The purpose of this manual is to provide operating instructions for using the S@E IPX system customization and maintenance programs. The term IPX S@E MANAGER is used to indicate the management platform applied for S@E IPX exchanges: both the LARGE and PLUS, implemented in a WINDOWS 95 / 98 / 2000 /NT /XP. This platform currently permits you to perform CUSTOMIZATION and MAINTENANCE activities using STAND ALONE or CLIENT/SERVER configurations. Connection to the S@E IPX exchange can be made using the following physical supports: - local RS232 serial connection - remote connection by modem (V22 or V22bis or V23) using the internal MODEM located in the PG US on the S@E IPX side; - remote connection by modem using the external modem on the S@E IPX side.

1. 2 IPX S@E MANAGER structure The IPX S@E MANAGER management platform is currently of three separate modules: - IPX S@E MANAGER root program. This program lets you configure the management environment, activate all the other IPX S@E MANAGER modules (applications) and manage the subsystems handling communication with the S@E exchange available from the other IPX S@E MANAGER modules; - IPX S@E BUILDER application program. This program lets you generate the configuration for the S@E IPX exchange (system), save it to a local or network hard disk, upload it to the S@E exchange or download it from the S@E exchange using the IPX S@E MANAGER communications subsystem; - IPX S@E VIEW application program. This program lets you connect to the S@E exchanges and perform on-line maintenance (view base working data, perform diagnosis, hardware resource recovery,...) using the IPX S@E MANAGER communications subsystem.

1. 3 Minimum PC requirements To run the IPX S@E MANAGER platform you need: - PENTIUM 233 MHz, - 64 Mb RAM, - 60 Mb hard-disk space, - SVGA monitor with 800 x 600 pixel resolution and large characters

IPX S@E MANAGER - 14"/15" color monitor - PS2 compatible mouse, - asynchronous serial interface, - parallel interface, - IEEE 802.3 network card (for CLIENT / SERVER configuration) - any WINDOWS 95/98/NT p 4.0 compatible parallel printer. - 3.5" floppy disk drive - CD-ROM drive - Sound Blaster or compatible sound card.

1. 4 Software installation Software can be added and removed using standard Windows 95 procedures through the supplied Setup program. Three separate installations must be performed: - installation of the IPX S@E MANAGER root program (the communications subsystem) - installation of the IPX S@E BUILDER application (the configuration application) - installation of the IPX S@E VIEW program (the maintenance application). Several IPX S@E MANAGERs, with different communications subsystems, each with its own IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications can be installed in a single PC. To make this possible, each IPX S@E MANAGER must be installed in a different directory. Install the IPX S@E MANAGER before installing the IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications so that they will be properly linked to the IPX S@E MANAGER. Never install the IPX S@E MANAGER while any Windows applications are open. This is an essential precaution for installation. Likewise never install any other Windows applications while IPX S@E MANAGER is open. If installation were performed with the IPX S@E MANAGER open, the Data Base Engine configuration files could be initialized by mistake, causing the IPX S@E MANAGER and/or the other Windows applications to malfunction. In this case it is best to uninstall and reinstall the IPX S@E MANAGER and the other Windows applications. The default IPX S@E MANAGER installation directory is c:\programs\IPX S@E MANAGERxyy although you can modify this directory during the installation procedure. The default IPX S@E BUILDER è installation directory is: c:\programs\IPX S@E BUILDERxyy while the default directory for IPX S@E VIEW is: c:\ programs\IPX S@E VIEWxyy. You can modify these installation directories during the installation procedure. To overwrite an older release of IPX S@E BUILDER or IPX S@E VIEW with a more recent release, the first must be uninstalled.

IPX S@E MANAGER When adding a IPX S@E BUILDER or IPX S@E VIEW release to a IPX S@E MANAGER that can support them, the installation directory does not have to correspond to the IPX S@E MANAGER directory. The important thing is that the installation disk must be the same. The disk handles the installation procedure for both the IPX S@E MANAGER and the IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications in the same manner. - Initially a window appears prompting you to close all open Windows applications and indicating copyright. Press "Next" to move to the next screen where you can edit the user and company names. - The next step establishes the directory where the files are to be installed; if you opt for the default directory, press "Next". - Then you give a name for the application folder under the operating system Programs menu. - At this point decompression and installation of the files begins. - When this phase is complete you are prompted to reboot the PC to activate the program. You can do this immediately by confirming the prompt. After the PC has been rebooted you can add the IPX S@E MANAGER icon to the PC desktop following the normal copy and paste operations, right clicking with the mouse. When running the Setup program, you can interrupt the procedure at any time by pressing Quit or pressing the standard close window button found on the title bar of all windows (the button marked "x"). This calls up another window warning you that if you exit the program at this point installation will not be completed although you can install the program later. If you decide to quit Setup anyway, press "Exit Setup" or close the window. If you want to continue installation, press "Continue". Acronyms used HW: HARDWARE SW: SOFTWARE PC: Personal Computer TDM Processor: Traffic management

Installation of IPX S@E MANAGER program in Windows NT/2000/XP O.S. The installation of IPX S@E MANAGER program (all the versions) on Windows NT/2000/XP O.S. (Workstation/Professional type) must be done by the administrator of the system (or by a user that has the same rights of administrator). All the users with rights of administrator can perform IPX S@E MANAGER without effecting further configurations of system. If the File System is a NTFS type, the administrator must execute the following operations to give users/groups, without administrator rights, the possibility to execute IPX S@E MANAGER, IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW:

IPX S@E MANAGER - assign to the interested users/groups the rights of complete access to the directories where Suite programs have been installed. For instance, if some programs, ver. XXX, have been installed in c:\programmi, or in any else disk of network, then the directories of installation will be: c:\programmi\ IPXS@EMANAGERXXX, c:\programmi\ IPXS@EBUILDERxxx, c:\programmi\ IPXS@EVIEWXXX.

- The operation must be done by the administrator opening the "Property" applet from "Explore Resource" of the directories (right key of the mouse). In the "Protection" page (see figure below) you must add the users you want to enable to use "IPX S@E MANGERXXX", therefore assign to each of them the complete control on the access.

- For the regular operation of BDE (Borland Database Engine) modul, on which the IPX S@E MANAGER applications are founded, it is necessary to manage the file PDOXUSRS.NET; it is used to manage the complete access to Paradox tables. The file is created by the BDE in the root C:\, to check such position, select from the Panel of Control, the BDE Administrator applet and in page "Configuration" read the parameter NET DIR (in the following figure the NET DIR is in C:\).

- ·Assign to PDOXUSRS.NET file the complete control on the access, the operation must be done by the administrator opening the "Property" applet of the file from "Explore Resource" (right key of the mouse), therefore assign to every consumer the complete control on the access.

- IPX S@E MANAGERXXX applications to regularly work, must have complete access to the following key of the Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\APP PATHS\SUITEXXX.EXE

- The third step therefore, consists on assigning the authorization to the interested users/groups to completely access the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Such operation can be done with the program REGEDT32.EXE that you can start from "Menu Start->Execute..". Once selected the key [email protected] (see figure below), assign the complete rights of reading and writing to the desired users/groups through menu Protection->Authorization.

- With "Add..." button (see figure below) you can add the users/groups you want to enable to the change of the key of the register. For each of them, in the low part, you must select all the check box of the "Allow" page.

1. 5 Removing the software As for installation, the IPX S@E MANAGER and the IPX S@E BUILDER, IPX S@E VIEW applications connected to the IPX S@E MANAGER must be uninstalled separately.

IPX S@E MANAGER Remember that the IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications can only be activated by their own IPX S@E MANAGER. Therefore, if you uninstall the IPX S@E MANAGER you will be unable to run the IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications it handles. To regain the ability to run these applications, you must reinstall the same IPX S@E MANAGER release which was removed and in the same directory previously used. Each individual IPX S@E MANAGER program (IPX S@E MANAGER, IPX S@E BUILDER, IPX S@E VIEW) can be removed from the Control Panel (accessible from the Start menu selecting Settings or opening the Resources icon on the Windows 95 desktop), Applications Installation folder and selecting the application you want to uninstall and then selecting Add/Remove. If the Remove tab is not in the foreground, select it and, at the bottom on a white background, the program presents a list of applications that can be removed from the system. Select the program you want to remove and press Remove. Wait until the operations required to remove the application and all its components have been completed, then close the window for the Applications Bar. Uninstalling the IPX S@E BUILDER program does not remove any systems it has created.

1. 6 Running the software To run the IPX S@E MANAGER you must select, and confirm, one of the following: - IPX S@E MANAGER in the PROGRAMS submenu under START; - or the IPX S@E MANAGER icon on the PC desktop. The IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications associated with a IPX S@E MANAGER are activated from the main IPX S@E MANAGER dialog box, as described in this document.

1. 7 IPX S@E MANAGER configurations The IPX S@E MANAGER management platform can be arranged in three distinct configurations: 1.7.1 STAND ALONE Configuration Stand alone configuration is a configuration where one management PC uses one of its serial (COMx) ports to communicate with several S@E exchanges connected either locally or remotely by modem; at any given moment the PC can be running both a IPX S@E BUILDER and a IPX S@E VIEW communications session either to a single SAE exchange or to two different SAE exchanges. Two simultaneous connections can run between a PC and a S@E exchange, using two distinct serial lines: one for IPX S@E BUILDER and one for IPX S@E VIEW.

1.7.2 CLIENT / SERVER Configuration Client/server configuration is a configuration where several management PCs are connected in a LAN NETWORK for which the Server is a PC connected to one or more S@E exchanges either locally through serial lines or remotely by modem (two serial lines can be connected to a single S@E exchange) the Clients are those PCs managing the S@E exchanges connected to the Server PC; for each Client PC the assumptions made for the Stand Alone PC hold in terms of number of sessions that can be handled simultaneously and types of connections that can be activated with a single S@E exchange.

1.7.3 Remote configuration with IP connection The third way to reach S@E IPX is with IP connection using Packet Processor card.

IPX S@E MANAGER The architecture of the solution provides for connection of the serial port of the Client PC directly to the Packet Processor which performs the server function to date performed by the PC Server with IPX S@E Manager. For a description of the physical connections refer to the S@E IPX Installation Manual, code 723106006-A0-GB, paragraph "Packet Processor connections".

The procedure to configure the IPX S@E MANAGER platform in one of the two above-mentioned modes is described in the chapter dealing with the IPX S@E MANAGER, under "node address" and "routing tables" tables.

1. 10 IPX S@E MANAGER anti-intrusion function The IPX S@E MANAGER platform provides the user with an anti-intrusion procedure for the IPX S@E MANAGER environment. This anti-intrusion procedure is based on management of two distinct levels of login: each with its own password within the IPX S@E MANAGER environment. These levels are:

IPX S@E MANAGER - Administrator: enabling access to all IPX S@E MANAGER functions; - User: enabling access to a group of functions configured by the administrator when creating the user. The administrator has the right to create different user profiles, enabling or disabling the individual IPX S@E MANAGER and IPX S@E BUILDER / IPX S@E VIEW functions according to the responsibilities, competencies or particular applications to be performed. Once the IPX S@E MANAGER has been used (by the ADMINISTRATOR) to define a USER with its own "password" and its own "user profile" (containing the individual functions enabled for all applications), this user can be stationed on the PC where the IPX S@E MANAGER environment has been defined.The program cannot delete the ADMINISTRATOR database record (utenti.db) and the ADMINISTRATOR cannot change its own profile since all IPX S@E MANAGER functions are enabled. The ADMINISTRATOR cannot view the password of the various users, although it can modify them using the anti-intrusion procedure in the "user profile" table. It is possible to insert a user having access to the user profiles; that is a user that can modify the profiles of all system users although what was previously mentioned for the Administrator still holds. The first time the IPX S@E MANAGER is booted, only the Administrator login is available. Therefore, once the Login window appears, to access the IPX S@E MANAGER you must type in the default ID for the Administrator (User = Administrator, Password = Administr). Remember that only "User" is CASE SENSITIVE. Description of the procedure to create/modify/delete a login and its password and related user profile as well as to modify a password are described in the chapter regarding the IPX S@E MANAGER "user profile" and "password" tables.

IPX S@E MANAGER 1. 11 Description of function keys The IPX S@E MANAGER programs handle cursor management as all standard Windows applications, using mouse and PC function keys. In particular, the following functions have been assigned the function keys.

pressing this key in the various menus lets you select the highlighted item (even when in the Combo Box);

from the parameter configuration Dialog Boxes, this key lets you confirm the entire content or confirm the content of a single field. pressing this key in the various menus lets you deselect the menu;

from the parameter configuration Dialog Boxes, this key lets you exit without saving the modifications; in general, it lets you close Windows without having performed any functions. in the Main menu these arrows let you shift through the options; by default the first item on the menu and the first item its submenu (if available) are selected if the "wrap around" function is activated;

Left/Right Arrows

on the Pop-up menus, these arrows let you access any sub-items; from the parameter configuration Dialog Boxes, these arrows let you shift between characters within a field or to scroll through any lists. on the Pop-up menus, these arrows let you scroll from one option to anther when the "wrap around" is activated;

Up/Down Arrows from the parameter configuration Dialog Boxes, these arrows let you shift between characters within a field or to scroll through any lists.

1. 12 Description of windows graphics objects The IPX S@E MANAGER displays and handles a series of Windows graphics objects following the classic manner. These objects let you view and select the available options according to the context of that dialog box. The following is a brief description of the graphics objects used.

1. 13 IPX S@E MANAGER As previously mentioned the IPX S@E MANAGER management platform is comprised of a root program called the IPX S@E MANAGER which provides the functions the other IPX S@E MANAGER applications programs need to perform their specific tasks. The IPX S@E MANAGER automatically activates the IPX S@E MANAGER application program when he login and the IPX S@E MANAGER user-generated password are typed in. [Default: User:Administrator, Password:Administr]

IPX S@E MANAGER BASIC IPX S@E MANAGER-PROVIDED FUNCTIONS: ENVIRONMENT CONFIGURATION in other words, definition of the: - nodes comprising the IPX S@E MANAGER-that is, the PCs comprising the management configuration (STAND ALONE or CLIENT \ SERVER)-and the S@E exchanges being managed; - routing, letting you reach the S@E exchanges from the work PC through each of their SERVER PCs;

1. 14 Example of CLIENT - SERVER configuration PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS FOR CLIENT - SERVER CONFIGURAITON The operations described below to configure the nodes and routing records must be known by all elements of the network involved: Client PC, Server PC and Client/Server PC; the S@E units must be known to the address attributed to them. To establish a communications session between the Client PC and a S@E unit, the Server PC must be connected through a LAN network and all parameters for the communications subsystem must be configured. Run a customization session from the IPX S@E MANAGER on Client1. The Client1 PC is connected to the S@E2 exchange connected locally to the Server1 PC through a LAN network. Since the IP addresses for the PC are dynamic and are attributed when the Server is turned on, they must be made static. This operation is performed as follows (Windows 95): - CONTROL PANEL; - NETWORK - CONFIGURATION; - select the network card (i.e. TCP/IP->3COM Ethernet III ISA (3C509b-Combo) in PnP mode); - PROPERTY; - IP ADDRESS; - set the IP ADDRESS SPECIFICATIONS field; - type in the address to be assigned, i.e. SERVER1: 10.0.3.190, CLIENT3: 10.0.3.192; the last number must start from the last value assigned by the network administrator (i.e.190). - OK - You can check the address assigned to the PC with the "winipcfg" command, performed under to "start" "execute".

IPX S@E MANAGER Perform the following operations: SERVER PC - From IPX S@E MANAGER on PC Server, to customize "Node Address" table, under "Local PC Parameter" Tab control, input the name you want to assign to the PC (i.e. Server1) in the "Name" field, input a number (i.e. 1) in the "Progressive" field, and the value automatically calculated by the program appears in the field "Equipment address" (i.e. 8). Under "General" Tab control, input the name you want to assign to the exchange (i.e. S@E2) in the "Name" field; input a number (i.e. 2) in the "Progressive" field, and the value automatically calculated by the program appears in the "Equipment address" field (i.e. 16). When you have finished the operation, click "OK" to confirm. - Program the "Routing record", by clicking on "New" button, and a new "Insert S@E unit" dialog box will appear. In the "Name" field, select the name to the S@E (i.e. S@E2); in the "Application" field, select the application (i.e. KEYBUILDER); in the "Connection" field, select the desired PC communications port (i.e. COM2). Click on "Configure" to call up the "Port settings" dialog box. Set the correct parameters and confirm by clicking "OK". When you have finished this operation, click "OK" on both boxes to confirm. - Exit the IPX S@E MANAGER program and reboot it to make the modifications operative for the local PC parameters. - To check that configuration has been performed correctly: physically connect the serial port of the SERVER PC (i.e. COM2), to the first serial port of the S@E. Start the IPX S@E VIEW application, access the "Communication" menu, "Activate communication" option and, in the dialog box, select the name of the desired exchange (i.e. S@E2). Confirm by clicking "OK"; under "Configuration parameters" option, use the default configuration and click "OK" to confirm your choice. This starts the communication session: at the prompt, type in the "password" field (i.e. PAROLA2) and check that connection is made between the SERVER PC and the S@E. CLIENT PC - From IPX S@E MANAGER on PC Server, to customize "Node Address" table, under "Local PC Parameter" Tab control, input the name you want to assign to the PC (i.e. Client1) in the "Name" field, input a number (i.e. 3) in the "Progressive" field, and the value automatically calculated by the program appears in the "Equipment address" field (i.e. 24). When you have finished the operation, click "OK" to confirm. - Select "General" Tab control and click on "New" button to call up the "Node characteristics" dialog box: - Click on PC option: type into "Name" field you previously assigned for the SERVER PC (i.e. Server1); type the number previously assigned for the SERVER PC (i.e. 1) into the "Progressive" field; the value automatically calculated by the program appears in the "Unit Address" field (i.e. 8); type the network node number for the SERVER PC in the "IP Address" field (see preliminary operations) (i.e. 10.0.3.190). When you have finished the operation, click "OK" to confirm. Select "New" and the "Node characteristics" dialog box will call up again. - Click on S@E option: Type the name previously assigned to the exchange for the SERVER PC (i.e. S@E2) into the "Name" field; type the number previously assigned for the exchange on the SERVER PC (i.e. 2) into the "Progressive" field; the "Unit address" field will show the automatically calculated value. When you have finished the operation, click "OK" to confirm. - Program the "Routing record" dialog box, select "General" Tab control and click on "New" button to call up the "Insert S@E unit" dialog box. - In the "Name" field, select the name assigned for the exchange (i.e. S@E2); in the "Application" field, select the application (i.e. KEYBUILDER); in the "Connection" field, select the "LAN" network configuration. In the "Server name" field select the name previously assigned (i.e.

IPX S@E MANAGER Server1) and the "IP Address (server PC)" field automatically displays the address for the SERVER PC node connection (i.e. 10.0.3.190). When you have finished the operation, click "OK" to confirm. - Exit the IPX S@E MANAGER program and reboot it to make the modifications operative for the local PC parameters. To check that configuration has been performed correctly: physically connect the SERVER PC serial port (i.e. COM2) to the first serial port of the S@E, connect the SERVER and CLIENT PCs to the LAN network. From the CLIENT PC run the IPX S@E VIEW application, access the "Communications" menu and in the "Activate communication" dialog box, select the name of the selected exchange (i.e. S@E2) and the "default" parameter. Confirm your choice by clicking "OK"; at the "Configuration parameters" option, use the default configuration and click "OK" to confirm your choice. This starts the communication session: at the prompt, type in the "password" field (i.e. PAROLA2) and check that connection is made between the SERVER PC and the S@E.

1. 15 Example of CLIENT - Packet Processor configuration The Packet Processor card on which the remote management operations of the exchange can be carried out is the one that hosts the main D channel with gateway functions (the gateway function must hence be active in order to be able to use remote management). The Packet Processor card must be configured by the customizer connected locally to the exchange (the first customization must in any case be done locally) as follows: STEP 1 - Configuring the routing table from IPX S@E Manager The Packet Processor card must be configured as PC node and the US, connected to the Packet Processor, as S@E node. Configure the routing records for both the IPX S@E Builder and the IPX S@E View application specifying that the connection is via LAN. STEP 2 - Customizing Suite-OnSite IPX Manager from IPX S@E Builder The data required by the software (SUITE - ON SITE IPX MANAGER) which acts from the IPX S@E Manager onboard the Packet Processor can be customized on the following page which is opened from the menu: Insert tables->VoIP->Suite on IP

1. 19 MANAGEMENT OF USER LOGIN The IPX S@E MANAGER enables you to define, according to anti-intrusion function, which user logins can access the IPX S@E MANAGER from the local PC. It lets you define an access password and a user profile for each containing a list of the functions enabled for each of the IPX S@E MANAGER programs

1. 20 LANGUAGE MANAGEMENT The IPX S@E MANAGER lets you: - modify the language used in all written messages issued and all warnings the IPX S@E MANAGER sends the operator; - arrange the IPX S@E MANAGER to send written messages in another language. The IPX S@E MANAGER desktop menu presents pop-up submenus and a tool bar with a certain number of icons. These let you quickly access the principal IPX S@E MANAGER functions. On the other hand, the TOOL BAR is made up of a series of context-sensitive icons. This means that the items may or may not be enabled depending on the current working context. The tool bar is made up of the following icons: - NODE ADDRESS - ROUTING RECORD - SW VERSION ICON ASSOCIATION - IPX S@E BUILDER, IPX S@E VIEW ENABLING - SERIAL PORT MANAGEMENT - LANGUAGE MANAGEMENT/SELECTION - SW VERSION - NEW LANGUAGE - USER PROFILES - HELP The functions associated with each icon on the tool bar are the same functions accessed through these items on the main menu. Below you will find a description of the DIALOG BOXES you can call up from the main menu or the TOOL BAR.This description is not particularly detailed because the IPX S@E MANAGER help, and in particular the CONTEXT SENSITIVE help, greatly facilitate both understanding of the functions you can activate from each dialog box and the choice of options you can set for each field.

Dialog Box: FILE \ ESC This lets you exit the IPX S@E MANAGER as long as no application (IPX S@E BUILDER, IPX S@E VIEW) is running. To exit you must confirm (clicking OK) at the prompt.

IPX S@E MANAGER Dialog Box: Configuration / Routing tables / node address

This lets you link each logic S@E unit or PC in the IPX S@E MANAGER environment with a physical address to be used to make connection between PC and S@E. The program automatically generates this physical address starting from the progressive number you have typed in. The TCP/IP address to be used within the LAN network environment must be specified for the defined PCs (these addresses are derived using the "ping network_user_name" command in Norton Commander or with "winipcfg"command executived from "start" "executive" of Windows). Among the PCs defined, you must specify which unit is the local PC.

IPX S@E MANAGER Dialog Box: Configuration / Routing tables / Routing record

For each S@E exchange managed by the LOCAL PC, this dialog box lets you define the configuration needed to route the incoming routing management message it receives. The dialog box lets you define only the routing to the S@E exchanges defined in the NODE ADDRESS table. This is done by specifying the following information for each: - the physical communications path available for connection. This can be: - a COMx or a MODEM if the LOCAL PC acts as the SERVER PC for the exchange - a LAN network if the SERVER PC is any PC other than the LOCAL PC; the choice can be made selecting from among those in the NODE ADDRESS TABLE; - the IPX S@E MANAGER application can use the defined routing since two separate serial connections can be defined and used with a single S@E exchange. For each direct connection to the LOCAL PC, the characteristic connection parameters must be configured using another dialog box: - for local connections: Baud Rate, Character length, Parity, Stop Bit; - for remote connections: type of Modem, manual or automatic configuration mode, Baud rate, command string.

IPX S@E MANAGER Dialog Box: Configuration / SW version icon association

IPX S@E MANAGER lets you manage several versions of the same application (IPX S@E BUILDER, IPX S@E VIEW). This dialog box provides the APPLICATION START submenu or a special icon on the TOOL BAR lets you define which release you want to run for each application, selecting it from those available.

Dialog Box: Application start Selecting one of the items in this submenu starts the related application. At the present time only the IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications can be started. An application cannot be booted if it is already running.

IPX S@E MANAGER This Dialog Box lets you select which of the available languages to use in all IPX S@E MANAGER dialog boxes, all diagnostic messages and all help boxes.

This dialog box enables skilled operators to add new languages to the list of LANGUAGES handled by the IPX S@E MANAGER; this is done by linking the files (DLL) containing a translation of all the text presented into the new language.

This dialog box lets you define a new IPX S@E MANAGER user and modify, delete and view an existing IPX S@E MANAGER user. For each user the following information must be defined: - a LOGIN with a minimum length of 1 character, maximum length 9 characters; - a PASSWORD with a maximum length of 9 characters. The password input procedure requires confirmation of the word typed in without echoing the typed characters on the screen. - a USER PROFILE containing indication of all the IPX S@E MANAGER program functions (IPX S@E MANAGER included) enabled for that user; the application presents a dialog box for each function. A special user, the ADMINISTRATOR, has access to all available functions, including the ability to create a new user. You cannot modify the ADMINISTRATOR's profile. You can create other users who can also access all available functions.

Helpful is the "help context to the field" that describes every single field, every option to set in the fields, every function of a dialog box. To activate the "help context to the field" just click on "?" (question mark) present on the tool bar of every window, move the question mark on the field or on the button for which you asked for help, and click on it; it calls up the help that describes the field, the button etc. as the following figure shows.

IPX S@E BUILDER Chapter 2 IPX S@E BUILDER 2.1 IPX S@E BUILDER IPX S@E BUILDER is the IPX S@E MANAGER application program that lets you configure the data to be sent to the S@E exchanges managed. In detail the main IPX S@E BUILDER functions are: Input configuration data - creating a PARADOX-format archive called SYSTEM; Compile configuration data - that is, direct compilation of the system data-from the PARADOX format to a format that can be understood by the S@E exchange-and inverse compilation of the system data from the S@E exchange format to the IPX S@E BUILDER PARADOX format; Transfer configuration data - that is, direct (partial or total) downloading of the IPX S@E BUILDER-set system data to a S@E exchange and inverse uploading of the S@E exchange system data to IPX S@E BUILDER. The main IPX S@E BUILDER desktop menu presents pop-up submenus and a tool bar with a certain number of icons. These permit rapid access to the principle IPX S@E MANAGER functions handled.

2.2 Guide to compile a system for S@E IPX, SAE 3000 and SAE PLUS exchanges The present document has the purpose to compile a guide for the configuration of S@E IPX, SAE 3000 or SAE Plus systems starting from the beginning. Possible helps are: the use of a system model or the use of the Wizard, that are not described here, for explaining all the necessary steps for the configuration of a complete system. Select the dialog box "System – New - Free creation " and choose the type of system and the path to save the system. Select the technical card "Numbering plan" and configure the numbering plan according to specific demands. To correctly make this operation it is necessary first to establish what kind of numbering to assign to the following principal typologies: - local users for single access; - local users for access to group; - if terminations are foreseen on ISDN S0 interface: - local users for ISDN S0 terminations for single access; - local users for ISDN S0 terminations for access to group; - if Attendant Consoles are foreseen: - attendant console for generic access; - attendant console for individual access; - single trunk lines; - bundles (groups of trunk lines); - generic access to the public network; - if the use of more managers is foreseen to access the public network: - access to the public network with Least Cost Routing (LCR) mode;

IPX S@E BUILDER - prefixes of access to speed number tables; - prefixes of service; - number of telesupervision; - if the system must belong to a private network: - single tie lines; - routes (groups of tie-lines); - users of private network configured on remote exchanges; - indexes of routing to be used for individualizing every exchange configured in the private network. It is routine to reserve number “0” for generic access or LCR to the public network and number “9” for the generic access to the operator, use numbers of five or six digits for the bundles, the single trunk lines, the direct dialling trunk lines, the single tie-lines that are not object of direct dialling from users. This last shrewdness allows to save ranges of numeration for the services of call really used. IPX S@E BUILDER - Hunt groups (for the service of hunt groups generally used); - Pick up groups (for the service of generic pick up of a call toward a user of the group, generally used); - the other fields are to be configured only if you need of particular services. Open “Public network access” menu to customize the following tables: - "Bundles", grouping the outgoing or bi-directional trunk lines in different bundles according to the demands; the grouping in bundles has the principal purpose to differentiate the access of the extensions according to their class of service; if no difference is necessary, all the outgoing or bidirectional lines can be inserted in only one bundle and enable all the extensions to its use; - "Forbidden trunk numbers", to configure, if you have to disable some extensions according to the class of service, some particular numbers (for instance the payment services 166 or the international calls); - "Timed billing plan" if you want to use the specific optional service; - the other sections have to be compiled only if you need the relative particular service. Open from "Least Cost Routing" menu, in case you want to use more managers to access to the public network, the tables: "LCR numbering plan” (where customize the time slots and the managers to use for the different grouping of numbers), "Add LCR digits" (where customize the code of access to the different managers) and "LCR time slots" (where customize the weekly time slots). Open “Private network access” menu to customize the following tables: - "Routes", grouping the tie-lines in routes that normally represent the physical channels of connection among exchanges in a private network; - "Routings", defining the direct "Routes" and the "Routes" forwarded for every routing defined in the numbering plan; - the other sections have to be compiled only if you need the relative particular service. Open “Classes of service” the menu to customize the enabling profiles for the extensions and the external lines. Since the default value assigned to all the terminations is Class number 1, you must assign to it the qualifications that are intended to give to the majority of the terminations. Then, it is necessary to define the other classes of service. Finally, return to the “Equipment” menu to assign the class of services different from 1, to the various terminations. Open "Prefixes" menu to enable the services demanded and particularly the prefix "Reserved for maintenance" otherwise the “Check accuracy” operation gives an error. Configure "Suffixes" table to enable the services demanded. Customize "Speed numbers" table grouping them in twenty tables according to specific demands. The fundamental characteristics for the configuration of the system have been defined, possible changes or additions can subsequently be made without following a particular sequence.

IPX S@E BUILDER Perform a direct compilation of the equipment from the "Compilation – Check accuracy" menu and correct possible signalled errors. Perform a total transfer of the equipment from the menu "Communication - From S@E to PC". Following changes can be performed, compile and loaded through a partial loading (that doesn't involve the connection cut of the possible communications in progress).

2.3 System Submenu

Under "System" in the main menu you will find the functions able to: - Create a new system (the term "system" is used to indicate a general configuration for a S@E exchange) using the "New" or "Save as" options. - Select "Open" to view or modify the content of an existing equipment. - Select "Save as" to make a copy of an existing equipment. - Select "Elim" to delete an existing equipment. You can also create a new equipment: - Using the "Save as" option. This creates the tables for the operator-named equipment by copying them from an existing equipment; - Using the "Free creation" option. In this case you must indicate the type of S@E exchange, the equipment name and the destination directory; - Using the "Model creation" option. In this case, after having indicated the equipment name and destination directory, you must select from a list of model equipments: the program automatically creates the tables for the new equipment using the data from the selected model. There is at least one reference model for each type of S@E exchange; - Using the "Wizard" (guided creation) option. In this case, after having indicated the equipment name and destination directory, you must fill out the dialog box containing some of the key equipment parameters for the new equipment. The program then automatically creates all the tables with this data, adjusted for the required characteristics. The characteristic equipment parameters indicate the number and type of terminals and the range for the numbering plan. You can create new equipments with the various types of S@E exchanges in the following two families: - IPX IPGATE Line is composed of S@E 300 IPX, S@E 100 IPX, S@E 50 IPX systems

Remember, a equipment (or a model) is considered "open" when its name appears as the current equipment on the Tool Bar. In reality, however, the equipment files are all closed until you really access one of its Dialog Boxes; once a Dialog Box is open, you cannot open any additional equipments. Also remember that you cannot open more than one equipment at a time and that a single equipment can only be opened by one program at any given time (when an application accesses the equipment tables either locally or from another PC on the network, all equipment tables are Locked. In other words, until this access is terminated, they are no longer available for any other applications). The program provides a "Scroll ..." function to enable you to open a model or a equipment located on another personal computer on the network or, in general, in a directory other than the standard directory (Equipments or Models).

Dialog Box: New / Free creation

With this means of creation the program prepares all the equipment tables for the type of S@E exchange indicated using only default initializations; the data base generated is, therefore, made up of a series of files containing default values. You must then configure the equipment data using the dialog boxes in the "INSERT TABLES" menu.

With this creation mode the program uses the reference model you have selected from the models on file to prepare all equipment tables for the S@E exchange. In the "create new equipment from model" procedure, the dialog box prompts you for the name of the starting model and the name of the equipment you want to generate from this model. After confirming the data input in the dialog box, the program copies all the files for the model into the destination directory which will hold the newly generated equipment. You can use the new model-generated equipment directly or modify it using the dialog boxes in the "INSERT TABLES" menu.

A list of the model equipments is displayed on the screen in a Single-Selection List Box.

IPX S@E BUILDER Dialog Box: New / Wizard

As previously mentioned, this option lets you generate a congruent, functional exchange configuration by prompting you to input only a few key parameters. The parameters the program needs to configure the exchange are listed below: - Telemaintenance plug - Telemaintenance reserved prefix - SNUG Telnum - Number and type of Local Extensions; - Number of Attendant Consoles; - Number and type of Trunk Lines; - Number and type of Networking Lines; - Number and type of ANNVOC Group; - Whether the equipment can be outfit with mixed groups - Range of values for each type of Type of Numbering: within one type, you can also specify the range of subtypes (i.e. in the case of local extensions, you can specify the range of general values or the range of values for the individual types of local extensions, or for the Analogic or Digital local extensions). Using the operator-supplied data, the program automatically creates all the equipment tables containing the data adjusted to the required characteristics. The automatic configuration data base creation process takes place as follows: - An adequate number of electronic groups is created to cover the required number of terminals - The equipment is configured with priority going to the larger groups (i.e.: in the case of 20 internal analogic extensions, the program inserts one 16CAUA group and one 4CAUA group; on the other hand in the case of 21 of the same type of extensions, the program inserts one 16CAUA group and one 8CAUA group, leaving 3 extension attachments free) and keeping in mind whether or not you have opted to use mixed electronic groups. You can optimize electronic group assignments after the equipment has been created. This is done using the dialog boxes under the "INSERT TABLES" menu. - The program automatically creates a numbering plan that conforms with the indicated range of values. - All the remaining equipment data are then configured, starting from the reference values in the models for the type of exchange selected. - A graphic equipment diagram is created showing the values the wizard has automatically assigned for the characteristic parameters of the equipment created.

2.4 Insert Tables Submenu The INSERT TABLES submenu lets you set the configuration data you want to assign to a new system or to an existing system opened with the system submenu.

To insert the S@E system into the telephone network environment, you must provide a series of data specifying the characteristics; these data mainly refer to the : - numbering plan adopted; - unit configuration in reference to the equipment groups and lines; - line organization; - functions enabled so the user can access the services available on the unit; - operating and timeout modes for the unit; - special performance. A certain number of Dialog Boxes are used to input these data. A Dialog Box contains a series of logically related fields. Once editing has been completed the content of these Boxes is saved in a relational Data Base file in Paradox format. When you select a Dialog Box, its screen appears. The fields in the selected Dialog Box can contain: - initial settings, automatically assigned by the program; - data drawn from the TAPER constructed at the end of the "TRANSFER TABLES FROM S@E TO PC";

IPX S@E BUILDER - characters typed from the keyboard. In selecting the setting for a given field, whenever operator input is possible, the program guides you through this by presenting a list of correct settings (i.e. range for the numbering plan or telephone number for the configured terminals); in addition, in other cases the program presents a list of correct numbers which are already being used. These numbers cannot be used. Two levels of controls are performed on the data input in the general Dialog Box: - Local Control (achieved during the "Insert Tables" phase) - Cross Checking between Boxes (achieved during the "Compilation" phase) In particular, local controls are performed: - when the data input in a field are confirmed (these controls serve to ensure that the setting input falls within the acceptable range); - when the entire content of the Dialog Box is being confirmed (these controls serve to ensure that the values input in the various fields are congruent with each other). When inputting data in a single Dialog Box, a part of the cross checks involving that dialog box are performed if they are not too time consuming. The program performs the same controls when data are introduced in the dialog box and during the inverse compilation procedure. The data inserted in the various fields of a Dialog Box are only memorized in the Data Base on the HD when you exit the Dialog Box and only upon operator request. As previously mentioned, the program is structured so that you are required to complete some of the configuration steps before proceeding with the next (the "Numbering Plan" table must be configured before all the other tables and immediately after the "Equipment" table has been configured). This simplifies data input since it is often possible select the value from automatic lists; it also simplifies compilation since it reduces the number of cross checks needed. In particular, in defining the configuration data, the following chronological order must be a satisfied: - before customizing the peripheral group (PG) terminals equipped in the system ("EQUIPMENT" dialog box), the accepted ranges for those types of terminals must be customized in the NUMBERING PLAN; - before customizing the mixed telephone groups (hunt groups, arrays, paths, ...) both the numbering plan ranges and the terminals included must have been customized; - before customizing any system telephone entity, the corresponding range must have already been customized in the numbering plan Accessing the individual dialog boxes: - Numbering plan - Equipments - Internal - Multiproperty blocks - Public network Access - Private network Access

Dialog Box: Numbering plan This Dialog Box lets you configure or modify the exchange Numbering Plan.

The Numbering Plan is a grid table containing the information regarding the record number, numbering interval and the type of numbering and comment field describing the range for any given family: double clicking on the type of number calls up the Dialog Box containing Tab Control Sheets with all the types of numbering available for that family. If the family calls for routing, the routing setting is displayed with a spin-type control for rapid, graphic modification.

Dialog Box: Equipments This Dialog Box lets you configure or modify the exchange equipment. If an electronic group is installed in the card slot on a subframe, this is shown by a label bearing the name of the electronic group installed, inserted in the place of the card.

In addition, beside the image of the exchange, a notepad is shown containing a summary of all the most important equipment information: terminations and range of the numbering plan. Selecting a subframe, and then an electronic group from inside this subframe, lets you view all the associated user terminations and the characteristic parameters for each.

IPX S@E BUILDER Double clicking on an electronic group inserted in a subframe card slot opens the dialog box containing its parameters. These parameters can be configured, reviewed or modified; in particular this box is broken down into two basic parts: the main part lets you configure the purely telephonicparameters for the terminations; the second part, called up by clicking "Details", lets you configure those more hardware-related electronic group parameters (i.e.: "CGQSIGA Customization" and "channel D").

In this Dialog Box the program automatically presents a list of the types that can be associated with the terminals. This ensures that all associations are correct and makes subsequent controls useless. In the same manner, to assign the telephone number for the terminals, the program offers a list of the numbers available for each type of electronic group configured under "Numbering Plan". You cannot add telephone numbers other than those automatically presented on the list. In fact, if you need to add another number which is not on the list, you must return to the Numbering Plan table. To manage the available numbers, the Dialog Box is divided into two sections: - "Available numbers" where the program displays the range of numbers available; for each range the program also presents the "Type of numbering" - "Numbers engaged" where the program displays a list of the telephone numbers which have already been assigned to physical terminations. Clicking on the telephone number for any given termination opens another box where you can configure additional details for that termination.

IPX S@E BUILDER Accessing the individual dialog boxes: - Local user - Operator console - Trunk line - Networking line There is no dialog box associated with "mixed groups" since, depending on the type of terminal, the "Local User", "Attendant Console" or "Trunk Lines" boxes will be opened. For about the group T1CAS (mixed group for USA) to follow the procedure of customizing described in the chapter "MIXED GROUPS T1CAS" Particular groups require special procedures as indicated below: - Packet Processor (connection with IP tecnology) - Dect - Voice Announcements (announcements and messages) - T1CAS (mixed group for american market) Right clicking on one of the selected groups lets you open a menu containing the following options: - Delete: deletes the group from the card slot; - Configure: lets you configure the group (the equivalent of double clicking); - Esc: lets you exit the equipment configuration section Inserting electronic groups into the different card slots into the S@E exchange subframe must comply with the position limitations imposed by the PCM bus distribution. To insert, select the group from the list of those available and then click on the empty card slot where you want to insert it. If it proves impossible to insert the group in the selected position because there is no time slot available or the group can only be inserted in a position different from the one selected the operation proves ineffective. In addition, a keyword search option is available, also shown as an icon on the tool bar.

- Search by number lets you view the data related to the desired number (if applicable) - Search by series lets you view a list of the telephone numbers belonging to the desired series (if applicable) - Search by service class lets you view the subframes, card slots and terminals associated with each extension by class (if applicable) REMOTE Remote performance can be partially achieved while equipping the subframes with the various electronic groups (i.e. selecting and positioning the groups for the different types of remote performance) and in part it can be achieved when configuring normal groups inside the remote subframes ; the latter configuration does not require any specifications other than those described for the groups inserted in the standard subframes. Each remote subframe is under a remoting group positioned in a physical subframe using a graphics procedure similar to the one used for the other groups. Double left click on the remoting group to view the remote subframe (with 4 or 12 card slots). Then, after clicking on the individual electronic groups (except mixed or remote groups) you can insert them into the subframe.

After double clicking to select the remoting group, the program presents the selected remote subframe as well as an overall view of the exchange showing the virtual situation for the groups. This virtual situation graphically represents the physical card slots; they are shown as virtually occupied by the remote groups and are, therefore, locally empty. The virtual situation depends on which physical subframes are actually equipped. In other words, even if you are configuring: - a S@E 50 IPX, S@E 100 IPX, S@E 300 IPX, SAE PLUS (32/80/160/260) exchange or a SAE LARGE 220 exchange physically fit only with the BASE SUBFRAME - a S@E 500 IPX exchange that physically fit only with the BASE and EXPANSION 3 subrames The presence of the remote PG is notified to theTDM processor (or GT in SAE exchanges not IPX) even when the subframe is not physically present. For the program, the subframes must be paired as follows: - Base / Expansion 3 Subframes; - Expansion 1 / Expansion 2 Subframes. In addition, the card slots within each subframe are paired as follows: - each pair of card slots is made up of one odd position and an adjacent even position, selected so that the odd position is lower than the even position. Therefore, even if not physically present, the remote PG is allocated within the exchange SUBFRAME using the following algorithm: - the appropriate PAIR of CARD SLOTS and PAIR of SUBFRAMES are determined according to the position of the remote group in one of the real SUBFRAMES; the four card slots defined by the two pairs are the first set of four card slots to be configured for the first set of 4 remote groups. Only the real remote Peripheral Groups are to be configured and not the remoting group; - draw the two associated PCM WIRES from the four card slots identified at point 1. These are to be remoted;

IPX S@E BUILDER - identify a pair of card slots which have not been used in the Expansion 1 / Expansion 2 subframe pair (or in the Base / Expansion 3 pair); the four card slots defined by the two pairs are the second set of four card slots to be configured for the second set of 4 remote groups; only the real remote PGs are to be configured; - in the PCM wires table, replace the PCM wires identified at point 2 for the card slots for the PG actually configured at point 3; - identify another pair of card slots which have not be used in the Expansion 1 / Expansion 2 subframe pair (or in the Base / Expansion 3 pair); the four card slots defined by the two pairs are the third set of four card slots to be configured for the third set of 4 remote groups; only the real remote PGs are to be configured; - for each remote PG configured in the PG table, the corresponding terminals are normally configured. Configuration of the remote groups are subject to the same controls provided for the configuration of local groups. To enable you to reconstruct how the exchange is equipped after inverse loading, the following information is reported in the "Subtype" field for the significant remote card slots: - CGNG703 remoting group toward the 4-CARD SLOT subframe (PSE_CGNG703_S4) - CGNG703 remoting group toward the 12-CARD SLOT subframe (PSE_CGNG703_S12) - CGNHDSL remoting group toward the 4-CARD SLOT subframe (PSE_CGNHDSL_S4) - CGNHDSL remoting group toward the 12-CARD SLOT subframe (PSE_CGNHDSL_S12) - remoting group (PSE_REMOTIZZATO). The following rules are applied to configure remoting: - If a card slot in Quaternary I is occupied, it cannot be used for remoting. - If Quaternary II or III is not found, a set of three, or a Pair or a Single free holder is set aside for remoting. - The card slots set aside for remoting but which have not been used, can be reused locally. - For each inlet into the remote subframe there must be 4 or 12 card slots set aside for remoting: those free in the base Quaternary plus those in the Quaternaries, Pairs or Singles so that you have a total of 4 or 12 card slots.

IPX S@E BUILDER Dialog Box: Dect Within the S@E system you can configure a maximum of: - no. 4 DECT groups in S@E IPX ENTERPRISE (S@E 200 IPX, S@E 500 IPX, S@E 1000 IPX, S@E 2000 IPX) - no. 2 DECT groups in S@E 50 IPX, S@E 100 IPX, S@E 300 IPX or SAE PLUS 32, 80, 160, 260 The DECT group is a system made up of a maximum of: - 4 8RFPI circuit boards (a base board and other expansion boards); - 32 base RFP DECT radio stations (8 for each 8RFPI circuit board); - 192 portable DECT units. DECT system customization is implemented by "remoting" a maximum of 12 16CAUn groups (corresponding to 12 x 16=192 portable DECT units) for which the DECT group acts as a remoting circuit board. The remoting groups are arranged following precise rules depending on the position of the DECT group (base circuit board). It can be inserted in any card slot where the time-slot 0 of the upper PCM wire is free. Every portable DECT unit corresponds to an S_F_MONO type terminal for a remote 16CAUn. The associated local user is, therefore, configured to the same parameters as the user with a S_F_MONO telephone plus other configurations specific for the portable DECT units. Physically the 8RFPI expansion boards are only connected to the 8RFPI base circuit board although they occupy the adjacent card slots. During customization, you must remember to leave free those card slots which will be used to support the 8RFPI expansion boards. The DECT group configuration dialog box is divided into three main sheets "Wireless", "RFP", "Details"; respectively they let you: - manage the virtual 16CAUn groups with their associated DECT wireless units; - customize the RFP radio stations; - configure the detailed parameters for the DECT system. Press "Close" to close the DECT group dialog box and save the customized data.

The "Wireless" tab sheet on the DECT group dialog box lets you manage the 12 remote 16CAUn groups and their associated portable units. To customize the virtual groups, just press the related 12 buttons on the panel. These present the captions for the range of wireless units that can be configured and provide suggestions for the following information: - card slot and subframe virtually occupied by the group; - number of associated wireless units (if >0 the caption is highlighted in yellow). When the screen is activated, if one of the card slots selected by the DECT group is occupied by another electronic group, the button is disabled.

The dialog box used to configure a virtual group activated with the 12 buttons reflects those provided for the physical 16CAUn group with the addition of "Wireless details". To run a multiple programming of up to 192 wireless units, under "Multiple Programming" you must set the initial telephone number in the "From" box and select the final number from the list in the "To" combo-box. The Local Users dialog box automatically appears and you can customize the DECT user parameters. This section is only enabled when no portable units are configured in the DECT system. All fields are self-explanatory with the exception of the "Forward Telnumtel". This corresponds to the recognized portable network telephone number, since each portable unit can pass from one DECT system to another, thus acting as a call divert service. To delete all portable units linked to the terminals of a virtual 16CAUn group, just select that group in the combo-box under "Delete Wireless" and then press "Delete". You will be prompted to confirm this operation. To move the portable units from one remote 16CAUn to another, just select the virtual source and destination PGs in the combo-box under "Move Wireless" and then press "->".

The "Details" tab sheet in the DECT group dialog box lets you set the characteristic parameters for a DECT system using special boxes. These are: - Dect Class: the acceptable range is 'A' through 'H'; - EMC: (Embedded Manufactured Code), corresponding to the DECT system manufacturer code; - PABX-ID: (PABX Identifier) unmistakably identifying one exchange from the others (each exchange has its own PABX-ID); - Paging Timeout: paging timeout for the portable units; - SAE DECT 40 Server: flag indicating whether the unit is a SAE DECT SERVER; - First service prefix: a 6-digit telephone number (roaming code, must correspond to service prefix no 77 "variable (follow me) forwarding service for other"); - Second service prefix: 6-digit telephone number (n.u.); - Third service prefix: 6-digit telephone number (n.u.); - Level 1 timer integration alarm: timeout to integrate the Upn level 1 alarm with the DECT base radio stations, expressed in tenths of a second; - First byte available: byte available for future use; - Second byte available: byte available for future use. After the settings for the EMC and PABX-ID codes have been input, the setting for the PARK box is automatically calculated (this is a read-only value). The "Restore" button lets you return the settings in the boxes on this tab sheet to those present at the moment the DECT group configuration dialog box was opened.

The "RFP" tab sheet in the DECT group dialog box lets you customize the parameters for the 32 RFP base radio stations associated with the system To configure the radio stations, use the "8RFP Circuit" combo-box to select the circuit connecting the 8 RFP stations you want to customize. Then insert and/or modify the parameters present in the underlying table. For each radio station you can configure the following parameters: - PRESENT: flag indicating whether the RFP ratio station is present under customization; when set as true all the other record fields are enabled and initialized as default settings. When set as false, they are disabled. - ENROLMENT: this indicates whether enrolment (authentication of the portable unit) can be performed from the radio station; - CABLE DELAY: this field describes the group cable delay; - CIPHERING: this indicates whether or not ciphering has been activated; - BYTE1: byte available for future use; - BYTE2: byte available for future use; - BYTE3: byte available for future use. The "Restore" button lets you return the settings for all 32 RFP parameters to those assumed at the moment the DECT group configuration dialog box was opened. N. B.: to manage the DECT system, after having customized, compiled and sent the system to the S@E exchange and enrolled the portable units, after having uploaded the system you must run an inverse compilation of the system itself. If not you will lose the data for management of the DECT portable units.

IPX S@E BUILDER Sequence to follow for the DECT system customization procedure - insert the DECT PG under "Equipment" - customize "Details" in the "DECT group" dialog box - customize "RFP" in the "DECT group" dialog box - customize portable units in the "DECT group" dialog box - customize all portable telephones in the "DECT PP group" dialog box (telephone number, etc.) - customize all DECT portable units by clicking on the telephone number and accessing "portable unit details" in the "Local Users" dialog box. Insert the IPUI/IPEI for the portable unit (reading them from the unit itself, see the DECT M3 user's manual), access code and forward telnumtel (this last step must be repeated for all wireless units included in the DECT system) - system compilation and transmission - enrolment of individual wireless units (see the DECT M3 user's manual) - uploading the configuration file for the system just transmitted and subsequent inverse compilation (only after having performed this operation can you make any further modifications to the system without losing the data for the DECT wireless units, see previous note).

Dialog box: Mixed group T1CAS for USA Market The T1CAS group is an integrated system specially designed for the American market. It is made up of a maximum of three circuit boards chosen from among the following types: ALUBid, CAUa, CLG, ALUdid dial pulse and ALUdid DTMF. You must select different group types (you cannot configure the T1CAS system with two or three circuits of the same type). The remoting groups are arranged following precise rules depending on the position of the physical T1CAS board. The first virtual group (called MAIN) is always customized in the card-holder coinciding with the physical T1CAS card (X). The other two groups (called SECONDARY) are customized, again in the card holders (X,X+1) if X is odd or (X-1,X) if X is even, in a subframe calculated as follows.

The T1CAS system occupies only those card holder slots in the SAE telephone exchange which are strictly necessary for remoting the customized virtual groups. This means that if the user selects only two virtual groups (i.e. only two types of lines), only two telephone exchange card-holder slots will be remoted and the total number of access timeslots will be the sum of the modularity of the two groups.

IPX S@E BUILDER Dialog box: CAUA long distance New analog peripheral group has the following characteristics: - DTMF receivers and transmitters on board for each termination - CALLER_ID transmitters in FSK for each analog termination - it is possible activating the message lamp up to about 10 km of distance. In the basket containing the customizing peripheral groups in the equipment, the CAUa Long Distance is identified with the same acronym as the current CAUa: 16CAUa and 8CAUa. In the configuration applet, the user can customize it as a CAUa Long Distance type by clicking a check-box placed on the bottom of the mask. In this way the compatibility with previous release is assured. The updating involves: - the enabling of the user to customize the data of the "DTMF receiving levels" and the CALLER ID value (making visible the window of dedicated customization “Rec. DTMF levels”); you can leave the default DTMF level value except for specific demands; if one wants to provide all the terminations of the group with the functionality CALLER ID, defining a level and selecting the pushbutton “Set up”; - changing the AN_DECADIC lines into DUAL STANDARD lines (even if they are decadic lines to the TDM processor or GT). The transformation operation is irreversible unless the extension cancels all the modifications made on the group with the pushbutton “Cancel”.

Dialog box: Packet Processor group The Packet Processor group is a mixed group with the following functionalities: - GATEWAY (up to 30 channels for interconnection with other SAE systems provided with the same card by IP network or systems of other constructors which implemented the same protocol of dialogue chosen by SELTA), - LAN TELEPHONY (interfacing of IP telephones of the NETfon family). Packet processor is equipped with DSP circuits which allow, through expansion modules, to arrive up to a maximum of 48 contemporary communications. The available modularity of DSP is: 12, 24, 48 channels. The possibility of using the DSP resources at disposal is subject to the purchase of a VOIP adequate licence for the system. The data of the bought VOIP licence must be set up in the mask of the General Number Characteristics. The card is seen from the exchange like a Q-sig card (30 channels) and like one or more CAUN cards (from 16 each phones). The Gateway functionality is obtained by the Q-sig side while the 'LAN Telephony' one is obtained by the CAUN side. Every single "Packet processor" card can be configured in nine different ways: a)

1 card as IP NETWORKING (QSIG) or

b)

1 card as LAN TELEPHONY (CAUn) or

c)

2 cards as LAN TELEPHONY (CAUn), one of them of virtual type

IPX S@E BUILDER Licences management for Packet Processor function VOIP communication licence contains the following informations: - Total number of contemporary conversations: can be specified up to 192 CODEC VOIP contemporary licences (a call between 2 NETFON requires 2 CODEC licences). - Type of CODEC usefull: it is possible to use G711+G729 CODEC or use CODEC G711+G729+G723. (This data are contained in the previous licence, it is not purchasable separately). To use Packet Processor unit you have customize the following data from IPX S@E BUILDER: - set up in the General Number Characteristics table the total number of the VOIP licences bought, IPX S@E BUILDER application will make cross checker - divide the total number of CODEC DSP available resources (bought with the licence) for the "Packet processor" cards that were customized in the system in the "Number of DSP channels available" field, in the page "DSP area" of the group. IPX S@E BUILDER will check that the sum of these values does not exceed the total one admitted by the licence - in the customization of the GATEWAY section, it is necessary inserting the number of the VOIP channels reserved for Gateway functionality, this number is lower or equal to 30 (that is the maximum number of Q-sig channels) and must be lower or equal to the number of DSP channels assigned to Packet Processor card (if the unit is customized only as a Gateway the two numbers can be equal, but if it has also IP telephones the number must be lower). At last the S@E checks that the number of the CODEC licences and the customized sets correspond to the content of the "licences" file; if this control gives negative result the "Packet processor" cards are not customized. Furthermore, the system activates the QSIG supplementary services on "Packet processor" only if it is present the QSIG standard licence (differently, only the SIP standard basic call is possible).

IPX S@E BUILDER IP lines configuration The tab-sheet concerning the "IP lines" of the Packet processor group, allows the management of the IP lines associated to the groups QSIG and/or 16 Caun customized in the two sections: principal and secondary. - In the principal section configure a Caun group is possible (max 16 NETfon telephones) or, in alternative, a QSIG group to which lines of trunking are linked with SIP protocol. - In the secondary sections configure only the 16 Caun groups (48 NETfon telephones).

Through this tab sheet it is possible configuring or modifying the composition of the hunt groups (group of extensions for the hunt groups service). In this dialog box, it is possible configure a local extension (his telephone number) in the hunt group, the application automatically presents the numbers already set up in the "Equipments" table - “Local extensions”; the list of such numbers is automatically shown for the choice. The numbers which belong to hunt groups already configured are furthermore shown, with the possibility to remove them or add some new ones, choosing among the available. To configure "tel. num. group" field, the list of the telephone numbers configured in the numbering plan as HUNT_GROUP type and S0_GROUP is automatically shown to the Operator (for the S0 groups only the S0 extensions must be presented). For the S0_GROUP (member type of the group = ISDN) the only characteristic of "distribution mode of calls" is significant while the other characteristics of the hunt group (call forward, answer mode and protection mode) are not significant. It is not possible to insert numbers different from the ones presented automatically, in this case the operator will be forced to go back to the table containing the list and add the new numbers.

This Dialog Box lets you configure or modify Intercommunication user groups GUI (group of users for the homonymous service). The progressive numbers of intercommunicating user groups already configured, with the possibility of removing them, modifying them or adding new ones choosing among the available ones. The telephone numbers available for the composition of Intercommunication user Groups that are those completing the "TELNUM components" field are those the multifunction telephones (Saefon/ NETfon Multifunction ) previously configured in the "Equipment" table for the electronic groups having local users; a list of these numbers is automatically presented for your choice (Avail. components). Selection of the "TELNUM Key Association" is subordinate to the type of number that can be associated (extension, tie line, direct dialling route, trunk line, trunk line bundle). For each function a list of existing numbers (not previously linked to another GUI) is presented. Make your choice from this list; this list is obtained from the table associated with the type selected (Avail. Association). You cannot add telephone numbers other than those automatically presented on the list. This dialog box allows the user to customize a free sequence that can be associated to a SAEfon and/or DSS telephone's key, through the "multifunction terminal profiles". Upper on the right there is the free sequences grid, each characterized by progressive number and free comment. On the left can be customized: - the comment to associate to the sequence so as to make it recognized in the right grid; - the list of the function code of the free sequence; - a "start sequence" name showed on the display of the telephone at the the start ot the sequence; - an "end sequence" name showed on the display of the telephone at the end of the sequence. The functions to add can be selected in three different way: - through the combo-box "Function" that contains the list of the functions; - through the combo-box "Suffixes" taht contains the list of the descriptions of all the customized suffixes in the "suffixes table". Through this tab-sheet it is possible configuring or modify the areas associated to every block of multiproperty, the telephone number for the night service of every area (GNS), the telephone number for the overflow of the calls towards the AC and the enabling to the automatic transfer. You can leave the default values except for specific demands. The multiproperty blocks are usable essentially for the hot line calls or call back of the trunk lines to AC (day service) or to the respective areas (night service). In this tab-sheet the program automatically presents the numbers already configured that can act as GNS (numbers defined correctly in the "equipments" table - "local extensions", if the service must be developed by a single extension, or in the table "hunt groups", if the service must be developed by a telephone group number . IPX S@E BUILDER Dialog Box: Backup on public network The service allows to reach a remote exchange (of Selta type or other company) routing a call on public ISDN or PSTN network as last possibility, after having tried to reach, without success because of congestion, of busy or alarm, the remote destination through the private network (IP, indifferently with protocol SIP or H.323 / Qsig and/or CLG). It is possible move towards the called exchanges, the information concerning the number and the name of the calling (this information will obviously be shown on the display of the called if provided with telephone SAEfon or NETfon). As particular case it is also possible managing directly the link between two systems directly sending the calls on ISDN or PSTN network.

The operator can configure or modify the exchange Service Classes. The S@E system divides its functionalities according to the service classes. Each system line is associated to three service classes, through which access to the several classes offered by S@E can be allowed or denied. Up to 128 Service Classes that have been divided into logical groups with homogeneous enabling can be customized in the system. The configuration of service classes may therefore occur by selecting the tab sheet which represents the logical group and enabling or not the single functions associated to the selected logical group. When configuring the enabling subclass number (from 1 to 16) as to PUBLIC NETWORK SELECTION logical group it is possible to configure directly even the access permissions to the 64 forbidden numbers; if these ones haven't been configured yet, all access permissions to any forbidden numbers to configure are default disabled. This Dialog Box lets you establish which languages can be associated with the users. With this association the AC can display the language associated with a given line. Each introduced must be confirmed by reediting. Eight passwords are provided, ranging from 1 to 8. Such passwords are made of a number of max 9 alphanumeric characters and capital letters and are different from small letters. As to IPX S@E BUILDER and IPX S@E VIEW applications, the password introduced in the window must be digitized by the operator at connection, while as refers to the other applications, control on the password memorized on the PC with respect to that possessed by S@E is carried out automatically.

IPX S@E BUILDER This Dialog Box lets you load a file into the Data Base of the current system. This file configures the presence/absence of the hardware protection key and subsequent enabled licenses. The presence/absence of the hardware key is configured in this file, prepared outside the IPX S@E BUILDER application. If the key is present: the serial numbers for the twor GTs (active and spare) memorized in encrypted form and their SW service license is also configured. The program searches for the license file to load following the specified path. If the file does not exist, or if it is corrupted, the program handles the exception, issuing the appropriate message. The license file is supplied on magnetic support at the time the license is purchased and is subordinate to this purchase. The license file is a Paradox file and is copied into the db_Licenze.db file which is part of the Paradox Data Base for the current system. When the system is created the db_Licenze.db file is loaded with the default settings. Upon compiling, the fields for the db_Licenze.db file are loaded into tp_licenze.

Through this Dialog Box, the extension can set up the priority concerning each beginning/end documented alarm, as required by the HOST application through which it realizes the alarm documentation on PC.

IPX S@E BUILDER 2.5 Compilation Submenu The Compilation submenu lets you analyze and check the configuration data you want to assigned to a new system or to the existing system currently open in the system submenu.

Accessing the individual dialog boxes: - Check correctness - Reverse compilation

Dialog Box: Check correctness

The term "compilation" is used to check the accuracy of any configuration data input and processing. Starting from these "source data" you can obtain an image of the Customization Table (TAPER) to be transferred to the S@E exchange. Obviously the TAPER tables are only generated when no incongruities are found between the data. To check the accuracy of the configuration parameters in a given data base file, a series of cross checks must be performed and a detailed report file is generated when incongruent data are found; the report file generated lets you easily find the data errors; the report for the last compilation performed for the selected system can be viewed and printed from any dialog box by clicking on the icon on the tool bar. As previously mentioned, the program operates directly on the database for the current equipment. The maximum number of errors that causes the program to automatically abort compilation is presented as default although you can modify it before starting the operation.

IPX S@E BUILDER When errors are encountered during this phase, as soon as the IPX S@E BUILDER program reaches the set maximum number of errors it aborts the operation. If this maximum number is not reached, the verification process continues until the entire PDX database has been processed. Whatever the case, the presence of even a single error will prevent the program from proceeding to build the true and proper tables calling for generation of the S@E data base image file. If the cross checks do not detect any errors, the program compiles the customization tables tp_..... The CRC setting for these data is inserted in the last two bytes for the customization tables. The calculated CRC value is saved in the Taccuino.db data base file.

The evolution and advancement of the compilation process is displayed and you can interrupt it at any time; once terminated, the completed report file is displayed with the calculated CRC setting. The TAPER image, obtained upon compilation, is recorded in the binary "systemname.TAB" file located under the same directory containing the "source" data base files. If a TAPER image file, generated during a previous compilation of the program, exists, before generating the " systemname.TAB" file, rename the existing file as " systemname.TOD". The file with the system report containing the result of the last compilation run for that system is named "Report.txt"; the report file is saved under the system directory. When the accuracy check and compilation processes are completed the program produces: - the Report.txt report file under the same directory as the compiled equipment; - the TAPER image systemname.TAB, generated from the compilation when there are no errors; - the TAPER image systemname.TOD obtained by renaming the systemname.TAB file generated during a previous compilation; - update the Taccuino.db file with the CRC calculated on the customization data.

IPX S@E BUILDER Dialog Box: Reverse compilation

The term "Reverse Compilation" is used to indicate the processing sequence that lets you draw the Paradox data base files containing the equipment "source data" starting from the image of the Customization Table (TAPER). Before you run an reverse compilation you must upload the configuration file from the S@E exchange. This process is described in a separate paragraph. When the S@E tables are being uploaded, information regarding the IPX S@E BUILDER release used to generate the tables is also transferred. When you select "Reverse Compilation", you indicate the directory and path and the program runs on the pertinent ".rit" file. It generates an equipment and allocates it in a directory having the same names as the equipment name provided by the ".rit" file. You indicate the path. The following steps are involved in reverse compilation: - verify the presence of the equipmentname.RIT file containing the binary image of the TAPER used in the reverse compilation under the current equipment directory; - check the compatibility between the current release of the IPX S@E BUILDER program and the release used to generate the equipment. Issue a message if any incompatibility between releases is found and abort the procedure; - issue a warning that the reverse compilation operations will totally overwrite any PDX files containing a source image of this equipment and request the OK to proceed. If OK is denied, the procedure is aborted;

IPX S@E BUILDER - check all CRC in the customization tables present in the equipmentname.RIT file and abort the procedure if the program calculates at least one CRC error; - translate the configuration files into PDX-format source data base files: the program reads the configuration parameters from the binary equipment image file and reconstructs the PDX data base files. These are then saved under the same directory containing the TAPER file used for reverse compilation; - abort procedure.

You can view the evolution in the processing and abort the process at any time. On the other hand, if the program release differs from the one used to generate the SAE TAPER and is, therefore, incompatible, you are notified and reverse compilation is not started. In this case no automatic recovery operations are provided. You can use the "Software release-icon association" function to manually search for a compatible version of the program and boot it. The reverse compilation process produces the following output: - PDX data base files containing the equipment in "source" format.

2.6 Communication Submenu

The TAPER in the PC can be transferred to the S@E unit and vice versa using a local serial connection or remote connection (with modem). If the PC holding the tables to be transferred is configured as a Client vs. another Server physically connected to the local or remote S@E exchange, these tables can be transferred through a LAN network.

IPX S@E BUILDER In other words, the IPX S@E MANAGER communications subsystem handles the true and proper transfer in a manner which is practically transparent to the user. Depending on the network node address and routing tables configured, this transmission can be performed under all the possible connections indicated below: - local S@E exchange, connected directly to the PC running the IPX S@E MANAGER containing the IPX S@E BUILDER program through a serial connection; - remote S@E exchange, connected by modem directly to the PC running the IPX S@E MANAGER containing the IPX S@E BUILDER program; - S@E exchange connected directly to a Server PC in a local network with the PC running the IPX S@E MANAGER containing the IPX S@E BUILDER program; - S@E exchange connected by modem to a Server PC in a local network with the PC running the IPX S@E MANAGER containing the IPX S@E BUILDER. The customization program must be able to determine whether the S@E exchange can be reached no matter which of the above means of connection is used. Transferring the tables to the S@E exchange and vice versa is only enabled after the password memorized on the S@E exchange has been checked. To execute these operations open the following dialog boxes: - From PC to S@E - From S@E to PC

IPX S@E BUILDER Depending on the type of connection between the PC and the S@E exchange, the customization tables can be transferred from the PC to the S@E exchange in the following ways: - partial transfer - total transfer (involves the restart of the system with consequent loss of all the current communications). The system to be transferred is the current (open) system and its name appears on the Tool Bar. Before the transfer can be made from the PC to the S@E exchange, compilation of the system data base must be completed (without error). This generates, in the same system directory, the equipmentname.TAB file containing the customization data to transfer. The transfer procedure includes the following steps: SYSTEM TO TRANSFER PROMPT As previously mentioned, the configuration download, started by selecting "Communications / From PC to S@E" in the main menu, serves to transfer the currently open system. SELECT S@E TO LOAD When you have selected "Communications / From PC to S@E" in the main menu, the program automatically presents a list of the S@E units for which the routing record has been configured within the IPX S@E MANAGER (Root.db data base file); remember, the routing table lets you configure the following information for each S@E unit on the network, identified by its own logic name: - Physical communication available for connection (PC serial port or LAN) - Type of connection (local or remote) - Type of communications protocol used The communications path parameters are also configured in the same IPX S@E MANAGER Routing Dialog Box; these include: the PC serial ports, the Ethernet interface and the modem used for remote connections. Depending on which S@E exchange is to receive the configuration, connection to the PC housing the IPX S@E BUILDER program can be - local with the exchange directly connected to one of the PC serial ports (COM), - remote, with the exchange connected by modem to one of the PC serial ports (COM), - on a LAN network, with either local or remote connection of the exchange to a Communications Server PC that can be reached by Ethernet network the program automatically enables/disables the remaining options in the Dialog Box.

IPX S@E BUILDER Partial transfer lets you make the most of the transfer time. With this transfer mode you send the S@E exchange only the differences found between the data in the system tables obtained during the last completed compilation and those in the tables saved at the last completed transfer. The partial transfer, that generally interests a limited data customization, allows the TDM Processor software (or GT for SAE not IPX ) of the S@E of storing the received data in volatile memory, of carrying out various policies of configuration database updating (in volatile memory); therefore the operator can choose among the following possibilities: - update upon zero telephone traffic - immediate update - update at a set time partial loading involves the following steps: - search for the equipmentname.TOD file in the same directory. If this file is not present, or its size differs from that of the equipmentname.TAB file, the partial load process is aborted; - request the IPX S@E MANAGER communications process for communication with the S@E exchange (a message on the screen indicates the S@E connection process); - you are prompted for the password to enable loading operations and it is compared with the one received from the S@E exchange: if they do not match you can type in a new password or exit; - verification that the requested partial load is possible by checking whether the S@E exchange configuration CRC matches the one to be transferred, saved in the Taccuino.db. If the two CRCs do not match, partial loading is not possible and a message appears on the screen; - comparison of the equipmentname.TAB file with the equipmentname.TOD file, identifying the blocks that differ. These are saved for subsequent transfer. If a partial local transfer is requested and the equipmentname.TAB and equipmentname.TOD files are the same, you are warned that loading is useless and the procedure is aborted; - if you have selected "immediate" updating of the configuration to send to the S@E exchange, the program begins to analyze the blocks to be transferred, checking whether they only contain data belonging to tables which do not affect the current exchange telephone traffic. If this check is positive, the transfer procedure includes sending the GT a message requesting "immediate partial load without interrupting current connections". If this check is negative a message appears warning you that the current telephone calls will be interrupted as a result of the transfer; you can interrupt the process at any time. If you select partial local transfer of a system at "zero traffic", the above checks are not performed. - once the preliminary checks have been made, the program proceeds to send the S@E exchange an index of the blocks identified during the previous comparison operation. Then it sends the blocks themselves and this proceeds until transfer has been completed (you are notified when transfer is complete). It is always best to distinguish the cases of partial loading where the GT performs processing which is vital for the current traffic: below is a list of these cases, depending on the type of modifications made MODIFICATIONS THAT CUT OFF THE CONNECTIONS - multiproperty blocks - numbering plan - equipment (all except service class pointers, telephone numbers for ISDN/known in PTN network and names and/or languages of the individual outfitted lines) - extensions - hunt groups

This option lets you select the language you want to use to in the IPX S@E BUILDER menus, dialog boxes and messages. The program facilitates this selection by automatically offering a list of the languages available for IPX S@E BUILDER. The programs have been developed with the default operator interface in Italian; however, you can change the default language on-line, using the data base of languages available. Only skilled operators, equipped with compiler and linker, can add new languages to this data base through the menu prompt and only after a text-format library or resources (DLL Resources) and compilation have been prepared.

You can scroll through the list and select the desired language. The operator-selected language is saved in the Def_lingua_conf.db file which is also saved in the Sys_ Arch system directory.

This option lets you make the following searches: - by telephone number: given a telephone number, the program searches the files for the information needed to identify its physical and virtual attributions on the S@E unit (termination number, slot, subrack, virtual slot, virtual subrack as well as the series (i.e. "Local User") and the group (i.e. "GP16CAU") it belongs to; - by series: given the series it belongs to (i.e. "Local Users") the program searches the files for all the telephone numbers belonging to that series, drawing all information required to identify the physical attributions of each unit. - by service class

This lets you print the Dialog Box viewed on the screen-the equivalent of a "print screen" limited to that portion of the screen bearing the Dialog Box ("Dialog Box" option)-or you can select the customization tables (Dialog Boxes) you want to print "in full" ("Archives" option). You can define the printer and the print preview function.

Dialog Box: Permutator documentation This dialog box lets you generate a notebook on the personal computer reporting the interconnections running from the groups to the permutator and from the permutator to the outside connection boxes. The incoming data are supplied by a series of information regarding the exchange side cables and couplings, network side cables and couplings, outside boxes and their location (ground floor, first floor, second floor, etc.). Thus up the file holding all this information is built and can also be printed upon request. There are two possible cases:

Dialog Box: Esc/Rein of a line from telephone traffic You can exclude a line from telephone traffic or reinclude it. While reinclusion does not require any particular specifications, an ISDN channel can be excluded in two ways: - forced exclusion. If a call is currently in progress on the channel, it is immediately terminated; - scheduled exclusion. If there is no call in progress on the channel, it is immediately excluded; if a call is in progress the channel is excluded after the call has terminated. No matter what type of exclusion is selected, in all other cases exclusion is, by default, scheduled.

Respectively, these functions let you - input data for the matrix connection between two time slots assigned to two lines - matrix disconnection for two time slots - run PCM terminal test - display total in/out errors on the Signal/Control bus with the peripheral - display total in/out errors on the Signal/Control bus for the specified PG - activate/deactivate a local/remote loop on a 2Mbps PG or ISDN - you can enable or disable the periodic diagnostic tests The matrix connect/disconnect operations of the time slot can interrupt the current communication. Activate/deactivate will only be accepted for the local/remote loop if there is no traffic on any of the involved PG lines. Activating the loop requires cutting off the traffic of all the involved PG lines. the lines are reincluded after the loop has been deactivated. After confirming the PCM test run, you can check the results by selecting the display alarms menu.

The user is given the possibility of downloading the "ap_numtelsi" table from TDM Processor (or GT) which contains "telephone number " " line number" associations of the exchange. This table is used to convert a request, send to TDM Processor (or GT), by a line number into a request by a telephone number.

Dialog Box: Absolute relative pos.conversion

This configuration box lets you to convert a number group position from absolute position to relative position (subframe and slot card) and viceversa. the configuration box has three main sections: - the upper section visualizes/inputs the number of absolute card slot -the lower section visualizes/inputs the subframe and the relative card slot -the right section specified the PBX type in use the two central buttons active the function of conversion. This utility is helpful when it is necessary to locate the phisical position of the card into the PBX (i.e. the number of the groups in alarm that the TDM Processor (or GT) software).

FAQ Chapter 4 FAQ This chapter aims at answering to the most frequently asked questions on SUITE systems. Q In case of doubled exchange, with TDM Processor (or GT)s positioned in slots 19 and 20, when starting the system which TDM Processor (or GT) starts with active TDM Processor (or GT) functions? A

The active TDM Processor (or GT) is always that positioned in slot 20 (POS UC = UC2).

Q

If a null traffic switching is required, after how long does the switching occur?

A The switching occurs after about 1 minute. If traffic isn’t null at time of request the switching doesn’t take place immediately, but only one minute after the traffic has become null. Q

If an immediate switching is required are the telephone connections going on interrupted?

A The telephone connections going on aren’t interrupted, but no new dialling is allowed for about 5 seconds Q

After a partial loading with no connection interruption, when is it possible to dial again?

A There is a time window of about 5 seconds by which it isn’t possible to carry out any activities. After such time has elapsed the exchange will return to normal working conditions. Q

Q How is it possible to switch from a single to a double CU configuration? A By customizing the double CU exchange, forwarding the customization to the TDM Processor (or GT) already present in the exchange, waiting for Major alarm to trigger (on PO/US/IPX S@E VIEW), then plugging the second TDM Processor (or GT) without switching off the exchange and waiting for Major alarm switch off. Q How is it possible to switch from a double to a single CU configuration? Q Impossible communicating with a S@E system because no S@E system is in the list: how is it possible to create a S@E system list with which to communicate? A From each IPX S@E MANAGER application it is possible to communicate only with the S@E systems for which a record has been created by means of “Configuration – Routing Tables – Routing Record”. First of all, by means of menu item Configuration – Routing Tables – Node addresses” or relevant icon in “General” file: please add a S@E node type for each S@E system with which to communicate. The name to give to a S@E system mustn’t be already assigned to another node in IPX S@E MANAGER environment; the progressive number to assign to a S@E system has to be different from that eventually already assigned to other local, remote or LAN S@E systems LAN; on the other hand, it doesn’t depend on the numbering of PC type nodes, including the local PC. The address automatically assigned according to the inserted progressive number is used by the comunication protocol between IPX S@E MANAGER and S@E, which is not to be confused with the IP address which is meaningless in case of S@E system. The presetting is active even without exiting from IPX S@E MANAGER. Q Impossible communicating with a S@E system due to error message “Routing Connection Port unavailable”: what does it mean? A The serial port from which connection to the given S@E system is expected is already used by an application external with respect to IPX S@E MANAGER: close the given application and make sure in IPX S@E MANAGER, by means of menu item “Communication – Serial Port management” or corresponding icon, that the given serial port isn’t unactive. Q Given the user telephone number, how to detect the slot of the peripheral grop it belongs to? A In IPX S@E BUILDER, select keysearch. Q How to define a service class starting from an existing model class? A After determining the service class number, select “Import from model class” from the menu. FAQ A Only for PLUS system, when during “Programme Upgrade” an irreversible error occurs and the first 64 blocks(of 1 Kbyte each) have been correctly forwarded to the given S@E system, it is possible to retry upgrade by means of Autoloader. Therefore, this is a function required to a S@E system not in normal working conditions, but only after S@E system itself has been pre-set for such emergency upgrade. Being S@E system already preset for connection, no “Start communication” has to be executed. Q Why, if “Autoloader” function is foreseen only for SAE PLUS system, selecting also SAE LARGE systems is allowed? A The listed S@Es, with which IPX S@E VIEW can communicate, are not previouslyclassified according to type LARGE / PLUS: the S@E system type is known to IPX S@E VIEW only once the communication has been started. Namely, as to “Autoloader” , the user doesn’t have to require it for SAE LARGE system, because IPX S@E VIEW doesn’t follow the normal communication starting procedure , so it doesn’t recognize the type of S@E system. Q At the end of “Courtesy announcement Upgrade” why is the communication with S@E system automatically deactivated? A At the end of each courtesy announcement loading, S@E system executes a RESET and it is possible to restart communication only once S@E has restarted working . Q What are the possible combinations of T0 and S0 terminations on 2T2Ca2Cn mixed board? A

In "tool table", "2T2Ca2Cn group" the following combinations can be programmed: - terminations from 1 to 4 of S0 plug and none of T0 plug. - terminations 1 and 2 of S0 plug and none of T0 plug. - terminations 1 and 2 of T0 plug and 2 of S0 plug. IMPORTANT! The following programming CANNOT be executed: - terminations 3 and 4 of T0 plug and 1 of S0 plug.

Q When mixed boards such as 4/2AbdCN and 2T2Ca2Cn are extracted or find themselves in in SC alarm, why does the system display alarms regarding inexistent slots or slots on which the board doesn’t insist? To program a remote printer, a serial printer working with XON/XOFF protocol is necessary. FAQ A Management of PO automatic exclusion, subsequent to the expiry of queue management timer (local timer to the terminal itself), is selected from table “Multiproperty blocks” acting on field “PO automatic exclusion”. Q How to fix one line parking time on the Attendant Console? A The line parking time on PO is set in minutes according to the value of field “Parking time” of table “Multiproperty Blocks”. Q How to prevent a user from engaging a trunk line by means of step-by-step dialling? A To prevent a user from engaging a trunk line by means of step by step dialling it is necessary to disable it from access to the individual bundle of the trunk line to which the given number belongs . Q How to detect automatically a carrier different from TELECOM by means of LCR service? A In case of engagement of the LCR service, to detect automatically an alternative carrier differing from TELECOM and needing to dial a specific number before the trunk dialling (i.e. 1055 for INFOSTRADA), it is necessary to memorize: - the value “AGG_FISSA” in field “Conversion Addition Type” of table “LCR Numbering Plan”; - the entry pointer of table “Digit Addition” in field “Digit Addition Tab. Each voice box programmed to be reproduced in "MIX" with another box engages two voice channels. The sum of all total access boxes (counting 2 of them if mixed with another box) must be lower than the number of available voice channels, that is to say 14. Therefore there can be max 6 mixed boxes with another box for every group. If mix with wire radio is required (instead than with a prerecorded voice box) up to 13 mixed boxes can be programmed. FAQ - The first solution consists of associating "TONE SUBSTITUTION ANNOUNCEMENT" to the logical tone corresponding to a call from trunk line towards the internal extension, and this can be done by modifying the “LOGICAL TONE” programming of the exchange. - the second solution consists of programming an internal number that normally isn’t used (support number) as destination of the direct incoming call and presetting for it the forwarded call towards the box "COMMON ANSWERING DEVICE" desired. Q When new voice boxes are programmed on an AV board the previous recordings are lost, is there a way to restore them? A Restoration of the previously recorded voice boxes implies knowledge of the previous programming of the modified AV group. By means of IPX S@E VIEW maintenance program, it is possible to access to GROUP MANAGEMENT – VOICE ANNOUNCEMENT GROUP MANAGEMENT – BOX STATUS INSPECTION/MODIFICATION services; in such case it is possible to switch the STATUS of the box concerned from FREE to RECORDED. Naturally this operation is successful only if acting on the boxes that were previously effectively recorded, otherwise some boxes can be ”listened to” the content of which is totally unintelligible. Q After a programming modification to the AV group the board goes out of service (the green led is fixedly on), how can it be brought back to the traffic? A Normally (recommended procedure) AV group restoration to traffic occurs through IPX S@E VIEW by means of GROUP MANAGEMENT – VOICE ANNOUNCEMENT GROUP MANAGEMENT - EXCL/REINT GROUP FROM TRAFFIC. If IPX S@E VIEW program isn’t available, try to extract and replug the group into the slot, but such action isn’t always effective. Q How to customize courtesy announcements in a SAE PLUS system? A Connect to IPX S@E VIEW and select “UTILITY” menu, “Courtesy announcement upgrade”, choose one of the 4 possible announcements and forward file *.bin. At the end of loading TDM Processor (or GT) resets and restarts. Go on IPX S@E BUILDER and select “General”, “Logical Tones” and choose the tone to substitute with the courtesy announcement . On field “TL type” customize “physical tone”, on “TF type” “Other values”, on “Insert TF type” the time-slot value of the announcement. The time-slots of ANNOUNCEMENTS 1/ANNOUNCEMENTS 2/ ANNOUNCEMENT 3/ANNOUNCEMENTS 4 have values ranging from 12 to 15. Subtract from the value displayed on “Insert TF type” fixed value “17” and add that of the announcement (12/13/14/15).
