Mini-Guide: How to Create Virtual Machines for Stealth Accounts

In this document I tried to make a step by step mini guide (with screen-shots) , on how to set up virtual machines for your stealth accounts. Well, I'm using Virtual Box which presents an alternative to Vmware, I have been using Virtual Box for 16 Stealth Accounts, for more than 9 months without any issue at all. I'm on Ubuntu, but creating a virtual machine on Windows takes the exact same steps on this guide, No worries! So, first thing we need to do is Download & Install our virtual machine software (VirtualBox or Vmware), we will also need a copy of the OS (Win XP, Win 7, ...) we are planning to install on the virtual machine, it should be .iso Format. Assuming we already downloaded necessary files (Software & OS.iso), All what we need now is some space on our Hard Drive (As we can also use an external HD or a USB stick – please note that for better performance USB 3.0+ in needed). Now we have everything we need. Let's get started…

- Open Virtual Box, and click on “New”.

- Chose a name for the virtual machine and select the type and OS version.

- Define Amount of RAM allocated to this machine. (It could be changed later, when the machine is OFF). I usually make it 1024MB of RAM, but it's up to you, and it depends also on your computer capacity and the number of virtual machines you will be running at the same time.

- Create a virtual Hard Disk, where machine's files will be stored.

- I always use VDI, as it is the native format of VirtualBox; however, using a VMDK (VMWare format) will increase compatibility with other virtual machine software.

- Choose storage type, I usually use fixed size.

- Select where your Virtual HD will be created and define it's size, while I'm using Win7 I need to have at least 10GB, but I always allocate 15GB – 20GB in case I needed some extra space on the machine later. But if you don't have enough free space, you should consider installing Win XP as it doesn't require much space. I have never used it, but I think 5GB will do the job for XP.

- Waite a few minutes for the creation of the virtual HD.

- After successful creation of the virtual Hard Disk, we are ready to lunch OS installation. Select the machine we have just created form the machines list (on the left), then open the “Optical Drive”.

- In order to lunch the installation, we should insert the OS .iso format in the “virtual optical drive”. Click choose disk image, and load the OS from the directory where it's located.

- After selecting the OS.iso, We are ready to start the installation process. Click on “Start”

- wait a few seconds while windows files are loading...

- Perform a usual windows installation, just like when installing Windonws on your real computer, just a couple of “next” buttons to be clicked on ;)

- After successfully installing Windows on the virtual machine, all what we need to do is installing the “VirtualBox Windows Guest Additions” which consist of a pack of device drivers and system applications that optimize the guest operating system for better performance (Mouse pointer integration, Shared folders, Shared clipboard, Full-Screen mode,…) Just click on Devices, then “Insert Guest Additions CD” .

- Click “Run”

- Allow the VirtualBox Windows Guest Additions to make changes to the virtual machine.

- Just Click on “Next”...

- Wait a few moments...

- After the installation is completed, Select “Reboot Now” and click Finish. So that changes will take effect after the Restart.

Congratulations, you have successfully created a virtual machine, and it's ready to be used for your Stealth account ;)

Thanks for reading this Mini-Guide, I hope that it was useful. If you need some help or had an issue when trying to create a virtual machine, you can make a post on the thread in Aspkin Forums where you got the link to download this pdf, I will try to offer the help I'm capable of, and I'm sure that other members also would be glad to help you out. Yours Sincerely, Othmane
