FLUID GRIP® System Key Benefits and Features • The FLUID GRIP® System is a proprietary non-metallic and truly non-marking gripping system for making up CRA tubulars • Gripping system enables 360° of contact around the tube body, conforming to the individual tube shape, thereby reducing stress, distortion, and galling • Die penetration marks are completely eliminated • No work hardening of material • Built-in safeguards prevent pressurization of the system, unless the FLUID GRIP® housing is properly closed and latched • Complementary Frank’s equipment includes the Collar Load Support (CLS™) handling systems for a completely non-marking tubular running and handling system

Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

Shelf

Land

For years, running expensive, corrosion-resistant, alloy tubulars without causing damaging die marks was a problem. Conventional gripping systems with metal dies create damaging indentations, which reduce wall thickness and create stress concentrations, and accelerate corrosion. Tube body failures frequently occur in these areas. To solve these problems, Frank’s developed the FLUID GRIP® system in 1989. While others may offer low-marking systems, the FLUID GRIP® tong offers a truly non-marking and field-proven solution.

RTS-H Cassette Interfaced to NOV MPT-200 Key Benefits and Features • Modular Cassette System can be installed into carriage in minutes • The use of NOV’s HYDRATONG™ carriage provides tie-in to the rig’s ZMS system and ESD • Self-contained air-over-hydraulic cassette controls operate independently from rig’s control systems • Compatible with Frank’s DATA TREK® Torque Turn Monitoring System • Compatible with Frank’s Integrated Control System for torque-hold required connections • 14 3/8-inch cassette provides variable separation distance between tong and backup to accommodate casing and drill pipe landing string connections • A 7 5/8-inch Jaw Reducer Kit can be installed in the 14 3/8-inch tong to run smaller pipe sizes with standard 7 5/8-inch tong jaws, or to install the 8 3/4-inch FLUID GRIP® for use on CRA tubulars

Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

Shelf

The RTS-H cassette is a special development of the original RTS product line, designed specifically for use with NOV’s HYDRATONG MPT-200 modular iron roughneck system.

The rig supplies the hydraulic power to the cassette via the HYDRATONG service loop. The pneumatic RTS tong control console is connected to the cassette via a multi-conductor umbilical.

The system is capable of making up and breaking out a large range of pipe sizes using three tong cassette modules to accommodate sizes ranging from 22- to 4 1/2 -inches. The self-contained system supports the Frank's 7 5/8-, 14 3/8-, and 22-inch Casing Tong Cassettes. The larger cassette employs an adapter carriage to allow the heavy tong to be managed by the rig's iron roughneck. The RTS-H cassettes hook into the rig’s MPT-200 Carriage system, which is used to transport the cassette on/off the tubular. The HYDRATONG is available in two rail widths, and the Frank’s cassette systems can accommodate either.

The driller controls the HYDRATONG / cassette positioning, thereby maintaining the ZMS and ESD functionality, while the tong operator controls the cassette’s tong and backup functions. The HYDRATONG can be driven to and from the well center on the rails, and be decelerated to a stop at the programmable well center. Vertical adjustment for the smaller cassettes is controlled by the HYDRATONG.

franksinternational.com

When the XT-22 cassette system is installed, a Frank's Adapter Carriage provides the vertical height adjustment of the heavier cassette.

Similar to other single joint elevators, the 10-ton Automated Single Joint Elevator can pick up singles, doubles, or stands from beneath the main elevator. While the operations of some single joint elevators may be limited due to derrick height restrictions, this tool’s streamlined design features the added benefit of handling stands from a position above the main elevator and between the bails, maximizing workspace up to the derrick crown. This flexibility considerably reduces non-productive time and overall rig run-time. Additionally, the elevator’s load bushing design enables the tool to set on collared connections without any tubular penetration.

Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

Shelf

Land

The 7 5/8 inch 175 Ton Inner String Spider has been engineered to handle strings ranging in size from 2 3/8 inches to 7 5/8 inches. A pneumatic cylinder actuates a link that rotates crankshafts, which, in turn, lift and lower slips. A safety pin can be engaged to disable the movement of the link, halting the slips in either an “up” or “down” position. This Frank’s innovation enables remote operation to eliminate the manual bowl and handslips typically required of inner string applications. The slips can also be actuated manually.

INLINE SAFETY FUSE™ For use with auxiliary elevators

Standard Model

Pneumatic Model

Features Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

As part of our commitment to provide a safe work environment, Frank's International has developed the INLINE SAFETY FUSE™. The purpose of the safety fuse is to prevent failure of auxiliary elevator and rigging, and maintain control of the single joints or stands during an overpull situation by providing personnel with an indication of overload so that they have the opportunity to halt hoisting operations. For years, the typical rig-up of an auxiliary elevator has included an inline swivel that allows the joint to spin freely during make-up or break-out. During breakout operations, it is possible for the pin and box threads to hang up as the driller is hoisting the joint upwards, often resulting in an overload of the elevator and associated rigging. This is especially a problem with negative load flank threads, commonly found on premium connections. Often times this overloading will result in a failure of the inline swivel or rigging, causing the driller to lose control of the joint.

Shelf

Land

Frank’s safety fuse functions as a conventional swivel that serves as a known “weak link” in the auxiliary elevator rigging assembly that shears at a predetermined load. Once an overload has occurred, the shear pin “weak link” will fail, allowing the telescoping rod of the safety fuse to extend without a complete separation of the auxiliary elevator rigging. This brief instant provided by the safety fuse extension allows hoisting operations to be stopped in order to maintain control of the joint or stand, and personnel to clear the rig floor. After the shear has occurred, the telescoping rod has a contrasting color that serves as a clear indicator that the system has been overloaded. After an overload occurs, the fuse assembly, auxiliary elevator and associated rigging are visually inspected and a new shear pin is installed before the pipe running operations are continued.

The Backpacker™ compensator system is designed to aid in the running and pulling of premium threaded tubulars. Use of this system allows the driller to position the add-on joint or stand, just above the box connection. From that point the Backpacker™ controls all joint/stand movement. The Backpacker™ is referred to as the “intelligent compensator” due to its unique feature whereby each joint or stand is individually

weighed by the Backpacker™ system. Using the unique joint or stand weight, the Backpacker™ allows the joint or stand to be compensated such that only a minimum axial load is applied to the pin/box threads being made up. With this level of compensation control, premium connections can run with confidence that the pin nose will not be damaged during stab-in and galling will be greatly reduced or eliminated.

The HORSESHOE® Single Joint Elevator is a pneumatic horseshoe-type elevator that aids in raising joints from the v-door. Its unique design allows the pipe to enter its bore by passing through the open end, or throat, until it contacts the trough, where it is mechanically held in place concentric to the elevator bore and perpendicular to the pipe centerline axis. A reversed procedure may also be used when laying down pipe from its vertical position, wherein the pipe catches are actuated in order to allow the elevator to be easily removed from the pipe.

DISPLAY™ Digital Application Key Benefits and Features The DISPLAY™ digital application by Frank’s International is a live make-up graph viewing system that allows users to remotely access live and historical data using their computer, tablet or smart phone and analyze connections made throughout the tubular run. This technology improves safety, optimizes efficiency, and ensures well integrity by enabling additional skilled staff to monitor connection make-up activities and make important decisions in real-time. The DISPLAY™ digital application reduces operational costs by using thread reps to monitor and review make-up graphs for multiple jobs from a single location. • Produce overlays to compare graphs • Analyze trends in make-up data, such as delta-torque, delta-turns, shoulder-slope, etc. • View pipe, connection, tong, sensor, and make-up data • View graphs in the same format as displayed on the computer at the rig site

Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

Shelf

Land

This technology works with Frank’s International's Wireless Automated Tong System (WATS) and DATA TREK® advantage Connection Analyzed Make-up (CAM) programs to facilitate live viewing of graphs during all Wi-Fi tong, electric tong, conventional tong, and casing running tool operations. The CAM computer program writes a continuous stream of torque-turn data, which is pushed in a continuous live stream to a Frank's land-based server via a wireless router in the rig's driller's cabin. The router is connected to the client network with access restricted to push data only, in keeping with client data-security requirements. Registered users can access the DISPLAY™ digital application web page to see the live CAM graphs as they are being made up on the rig. The ability to switch between the "live" screen and the "review" screen allows the user to view the live graphs as they are streamed, or review historical graphs from the present or previous jobs.

Clamp-on Single Joint Manipulator Key Benefits and Features Frank’s International’s Clamp-on Single Joint Manipulator provides an attachment point for a single joint elevator by lengthening the drilling bails past the lower portion of the casing running tool (CRT). • Improves pipe running productivity by as much as 60 percent when used in conjunction with Frank’s International’s HORSESHOE® single joint elevator • Prevents delays from attaching a single joint elevator to long bails by avoiding the necessity to first rig-down the short drilling bails • Enables attachment of a SJE with short bails in place which would otherwise be impossible due to the lower portion of the CRT extending below the lower eyes of the bails • Eradicates the need to rig-down short bails and rig-up long bails for running casing due to its ability to attach directly to drilling bails • Improves safety by eliminating the need to swap different bail lengths • Eliminates inefficiencies and safety risks of mechanical CRTs lacking pipe-pickup mechanisms when retrieving single joints of pipe from the rig V-door by virtue of bails, slings, and link-tilt • Enables the retrieval of single joints of pipe without manual handling of the single joint elevator by coupling to the rig’s linktilt system and improving the reach to the V-door

The purpose of the STAB-RITE ZMS System is to prevent a collision between the top drive or elevator and the STAB-RITE Tool when the STAB-RITE is deployed. It accomplishes this by communicating the position of the top drive and elevator and the status of the STAB-RITE Tool to the Driller and STAB-RITE Operator via a combination of visible and audible alarms. The STAB-RITE ZMS System establishes an “unsafe zone” or “collision zone” whenever a STAB-RITE Tool is in the deployed position. The unsafe zone runs from the rig floor to the “unsafe zone ceiling.” The position of the unsafe zone ceiling varies from 10 to 15 feet above a deployed StabRite Tool. When the top drive or elevator is in the unsafe zone, visible and audible alarms will be activated. Whenever a STAB-RITE Tool is in the parked position, there is no unsafe zone, and the top drive movement does not activate any alarms.

Use in the following applications:

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater

Frank's Drill String Torque Reducer (DSTR™) is a drill string tool intended for use in deviated wells where excessive rotary torque causes drilling and casing wear problems. This tool is an integral component consisting of a short mandrel fitted with a bearing supported non-rotating sleeve. It is designed to be positioned between the connections of the drillpipe at the well radius section of the hole. Achieving an international award for innovation at the Houston oil show in 1996, the tool is now acknowledged as the industry standard.

Shelf

Land

Another benefit seen with the tool is the reduction of casing wear. For a given deviation profile, the applications program assists in maximizing the tools performance by determining the deployment in the critical sections of the borehole. However, for most extended reach drilling applications, the tools are used in the build sections of the borehole, helping to extend the envelope of rotary drilling.
