Recommendations: I crochet with mixed type of stitches (yarn under, then yarn over); if you crochet yarn over, you will need to control the shift stitches by yourself. Crochet tight so that there are no holes in the fabric. Crochet in spiral rounds unless otherwise stated. The finished toy made from materials listed below is about 25 cm (9.8 in). In this pattern I use the US terminology.

Crochet hook 4 (1,75mm – I use Clover soft touch). Stuffing material – hollowfiber. Safety eyes dia=8mm. Thick needle for sewing on details, pins, scissors, marker thread or pins. Black, white and brown threads for decorating the face. Blusher or dry pastel for toning. Braided wire, dia=4mm (11cm/4.3in). Wire, dia=1mm (25cm/9.8in). Plastic cutting board (for the insoles). Adhesive tape. Satin ribbon 3mm and 10mm wide. Any other decorations.

Arms: Make 2 pieces in vanilla color. Stuff the hand tight, do not stuff the rest of the arm. 1round: 6sc into MR (6) 2round: 6inc (12) 3-4rounds: 12sc (2 rounds) 5round: Bobble stitch (3 partly finished DC into one stitch, finish them together), 11sc (12) 6round: (dec, 3sc)*2, dec (9) 7round: 9sc 8round: inc, 8sc (10) 9-26rounds: 10sc (18 rounds) Fasten off and cut the thread.

Legs + body: The right leg. Start in grey color. Stuff tight while crocheting. 1round: Make 8ch, from the 2nd loop from the hook: 6sc, 3sc into one, along the other side of the chain – 5sc, inc (16) 2round: inc, 5sc, 3inc, 5sc, 2inc (22) 3round: sc, inc, 5sc, (sc, inc)*3, 5sc, (sc, inc)*2 (28) 4round: 2sc, inc, 5sc, (2sc, inc)*3, 5sc, (2sc, inc)*2 (34) Prepare the insoles. I use soft plastic cutting boards. Outline the detail, cut. Make 2 plastic pieces.

Change color to white, cut off the grey. 5round: through back loops only: 34sc (34) Change color to cocoa, cut off the white thread. 6-8rounds: 34sc (3 round) The marker thread must be strictly in the center of the heel. Make shift stitches if necessary or leave some sc uncrocheted. 9round: 8sc, (sc, dec)*6, 8sc (28) Change color to white. Run the cocoa thread onto the outer side, we will use it later. Put the insoles. 10round: through back loops only: 28sc 11round: 8sc, 6dec, 8sc (22) 12round: 7sc, 4dec, 7sc (18) 13round: (3sc, dec)*3, 3sc (15) 14round: 15sc

With the cocoa thread left on the outer side crochet only through front loops of the 9th round: 28sc. Fasten off and cut the thread. Hide the tail inside the detail. Hold the leg as shown in the picture while crocheting.

15round: (3sc, inc)*3, 3sc (18) 16round: through back loops only: 18sc Make some extra sc (I’ve got 1sc) so that the marker is now in the middle of the back side. Change color to vanilla. Run the white thread onto the outer side, we will use it later. 17-26rounds: 18sc (10 rounds) With the white thread left on the outer side crochet only through front loops of the 15th round: (ch, sl st)*18. Fasten off and cut the thread. Hide the tail inside the detail. Hold the leg as shown in the picture while crocheting.

Make some extra sc (I’ve got 1sc) so that the marker is now in the middle of the back side. Change color to pink, cut off the vanilla thread.

Make the left leg the same way as the right one, but do not cut the white thread and continue crocheting. Put the marker.

Attach the caramel thread to the front loops of the 55th round on the side. Crochet in spiral rounds, start very round with 2ch and finish with 1 sl st. Change color to vanilla, lilac cut off. 66round: through back loops only: 42sc (42) Attach the arms in the next round. Watch them to be symmetrically on the sides of the body. Thumbs should point towards you. 67round: 8sc, 5sc through the half of the arm and the body, 16sc, 5sc through the half of the arm and the body, 8sc (42) 68round: 8sc, 5sc along the free arm stitches, 16sc, 5sc along the free arm stitches, 8sc (42) Take the wire dia=1mm and 25cm long. Fold the tip as shown in the photo (at the next page). Try on the skeleton inside the arms (the length may differ from mine). Wrap the skeleton with the adhesive tape. Insert it into the arms. Add some stuffing material.

Border: Mark with pins 18 central stitches of the 65th round. Attach the lilac thread to the front loops of the 65th round. Hold the hook as shown in the photo. Crochet: sl st, sc, hdc, 3DC, hdc, sc, 2sl st, sc, hdc, 3DC, hdc, sc, sl st. Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail.

Run the lilac thread in the middle of the border with the needle. Cross the thread tails and tie a bow in the back of the neck.

Ears: Ears: Make 2 pieces in vanilla color. Leave a long tail when starting, you will use it for sewing the ears to the head. 1round: 5sc into MR (5) Fasten off and cut the thread, leave a long tail for sewing.

Do some face decoration first. Do not cut the thread!

Face sculpting: Do some sculpting as in the pictures. Take a long strong thread. I used the same yarn as for the doll’s body. Insert the needle as close to the eyes as possible. Inset the threaded needle into the head in the central point on the bottom and put it out in point 1. Then insert into point 2 and put it out in starting point on the bottom of the head. Now do sculpting for the other eye. Run the needle through the head from the bottom of it to point 3. Then insert into point 4 and put it out in starting point on the bottom of the head. Pull the thread carefully, doing sculpting evenly for the both eyes, try not to pull too tight. Make a knot and hide the tails inside the detail.

Make the whites – the stitches on the outer side of the eyes with a white thread. Make eyebrows and eyelashes above the eyes with a black thread. Run the tails of the threads into the hole in the bottom of the head. When you are done with sculpting, make the knots and hide the tails inside the head.

Make the nose. Mark 2 points with the pins between the 21nd and 22rd rounds of the head 3sc apart from each other. Make two stitches with vanilla color from one pin to the other one. Wrap the stitches with the thread of vanilla color.

Sew on the ears. Mark with pins 2 points: the upper line is between the 18th and 19th rounds of the head, the lower one is between the 21st and 22nd rounds. apart from the eye side edge. Sew on the ears to the head. Tone the cheeks and the nose slightly with the blusher or dry pastel.

Continue crocheting the head. 34round: through back loops only: 15sc 35-45rounds: 15sc (11 rounds) Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail. With a wooden stick put the lower part of the head into the hole (look at the photo).

Head attachment. Take a long strong thread. I used the same yarn as for the doll’s body. Run the needle between the 78th and 79th rounds of the neck (look at the photo). Then insert it into the head hole and put out in the top of the head (photos are at the next page). Cut off the thread, leave a long tail. Thread the needle with the other tail. Insert it into the head hole and put out in the top of the head, step 1sc aside from the first tail. Pull the thread tails carefully, at the same time setting the head onto the neck. Make 3 knots on the top of the head. Cut off the thread.

Ponytails: Make 2 pieces with YarnArt Baby cotton (pink). 1round: 6sc into MR (6) 2round: 6inc (12) 3round: through back loops only: (sc, inc)*6 (18) Finish with 1 sl st. Do not cut the thread, continue: (make 60ch: from the 2nd loop from the hook 59sl st, 2sl st along the base)*9 Make sl st to move to the next round. This round should be crocheted through front loops of the 2nd round only: (make 60ch: from the 2nd loop from the hook 59sl st, 2sl st along the base)*6 Fasten off and cut the thread, leave a long tail for sewing. Take a needle, insert the thread into the eye of the needle and run it to the center of the MR, pull the thread. Sew on the ponytail to the head with the same thread.

Try the wig on the head. Fix with pins and sew on along the edge. I sew on with "backstitch". Then make the bang. Fix the strands with pins. When all the strands are fixed, sew them on the head. Do not sew 3 central strands. Take the ponytails, fix with pins sand sew on. I placed them between the 12th and 17th rounds of the wig. You can choose another position for ponytails.

Take the tapestry needle, put the satin ribbon 10mm wide and 30 cm long into the eye. Run the needle through the leg between the 9th and 10th rounds (look at the photo). Tie a bow. You can also fasten the bow with the strong thin thread in the middle.

Hairband: Crochet all details with YarnArt Baby cotton. Base. Crochet in lilac color. Crochet back-and-forth, start every round with 1 turning ch. Make 3ch + 1 turning ch. When starting, leave a tail about 15 cm long to make a loop later. 1row: from the 2nd loop from the hook 3sc (3) 2-40rows: 3sc (39 rows) Then make a loop. Make 3ch and attach with sl st to the other end (look at the photo). Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail. Make the same with the tail you left when started crocheting the base.

Ears: Make 2 pieces in white color. Crochet back-and-forth, start every round with 1 turning ch. When starting, leave a tail about 25 cm long to joining the ends together and sewing on the ears to the hairband. Make 8ch + 1 turning ch. 1round: from the 2nd loop from the hook 8sc (8) 2round: 8sc (8) 3round: dec, 4sc, dec (6) 4round: 6sc 5round: dec, 2sc, dec (4) 6round: 4sc

7round: 2dec (2) 8round: dec Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail. Fold the lower edge in half and sew with the thread tail left in the beginning (look at the photo). Do not cut the thread, you will use it to sew on the ear to the hairband.

Horn: Crochet in pink color. Sew the horn to the center of the base (look at the photo). Sew on the ears (look at the photo).

Take the tapestry needle, put the satin ribbon 3mm wide and 30 cm long into the eye. Run the needle through the loops at the ends of the base. Sew on the decorative bow (look at the photo).

Handbag: Crochet with YarnArt Baby cotton. Make 2 pieces. Start in light-pink color. 1round: 6sc into MR (6) 2round: 6inc (12) 3round: (sc, inc)*6 (18) 4round: 1sc, inc, (2sc, inc)*5, 1sc (24) 5round: (3sc, inc)*6 (30) 6round: 2sc, inc, (4sc, inc)*5, 2sc (36) Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail. You can steam the details through some tissue so that they look neater. Put details together with seamy sides inside. Crochet in white along the edges: 24sc. Fasten off and cut the thread, hide the tail. Now make the strap. Make 5ch in white color, attach to the main detail with sc (look at the photo), 60ch, attach to the other side of the main detail with sc (look at the photo), 5ch. Fasten off and cut the thread. Decorate the handbag as you want.

Put on the hairband and the handbag. The pretty Doll Rose is ready!
