2. Slope Failure in BP Highway Many slope failure BP Highway (Sinduli Road), total 156km length, was completed in 2015. Even during the construction, many slope disaster were experienced due to heavy rain…
Before 2015, conventional method of slope protection, such as soil-seed vegetation, was adopted. But it took long time for vegetation to settle in the slope and lots of effort/cost were necessary to settle it. 3
3. New Technology Trial in BP Highway BSC (Biological Soil Crust) Method We developed a new technology for slope protection which called “BSC Method”. Trial-installation was done in 2020 for the location where no vegetation had grown in 5 years.

3. What is “BSC” ?
Biological Soil Crust (BSC) BSC is a sheet-like colony of soil microbes formulated by soil particles and factures on the soil surface bound by filamentous bacterium, soil algae, lichens and moss 5
3. What is “BSC” ? The filamentous microalgae used for BSC method can be found in the whole world. Such type is called as cosmopolitan/universal species. Therefore, it has almost no adverse impact on environment (ecosystem).

4. Slope Erosion VS Conventional Vegetation Method (1) Seed by Hydroseeding Seed grows roots and leaves

Water runoff flows the space between sheet/ mat and soil surface and erodes the soil. The eroded place becomes weak then, erosion there becomes bigger. At the result, water-way is formulated, it gets bigger, then … sheet/mat can’t work to protect the slope, grasses can’t grow neither.
