1.0 Introduction Dhanam Auto Agencies is an automobile parts distributor in Tamilnadu. They deal with both the two and four wheelers spare parts. The company is an authorized dealer in selling Force Motors spares. The strategic strengths of Dhanam Auto Agencies are its large sale value 1.1 Background of the Study: St. Joseph’s College is one of well-known College in Tamilnadu. It provides many programs. Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) is one of the important program the important programs of this College. The internship program is compulsory for the students under the faculty of Business Administration. The duration of the program is about two weeks. However, I have chosen Dhanam Auto Agencies to complete the program, during the period I worked in the company. After completing the practical work, I have prepared the report. Dhanam Auto Agencies is one of the growing auto parts companies, which accepts me as an intern and helped to complete the program and in also preparing the report by providing information regarding the report. Under the supervision of experience staffs, my internship is done. I have prepared the report focusing, all the aspects of the company by consulting with my guide for the project.

1.2 Objective of the Study: 1.2.1 Broad objective: The main objective of the report is to serve my academic purpose as a part of BBA course and that is based on my internship experience. After completing the report a student can complete his BBA program. My main focus in the report is the fulfillment efficiency of Dhanam Auto Agencies. 1.2.2 Specific objective: To know the number of customer orders (Co’s), lines and pieces per peek day. To know customer order delivery cycle time. (average delivery parameters.) To know about the stocks placement and labeling. To learn about the yard and vendor delivery truck control. To know about receiving and quality assurance (QA) activities.

1.3 Methodology of the Study: Every article or reports are prepared by following a concrete methodology. The success of the report depends on the followed methodology in major portion. Without following a specific methodology the report fails to serve its purpose. Sources of Data: 1.3.1 Primary Sources: Direct communication with the executives and staffs of the company. Direct conversation with the employees of the company. 1.3.2 Secondary Sources: The printed broacher of the company products. Information available through internet. I have always tried to collect the fresh and relevant information and data to complete the report. 1.4 Limitation of the Study: Due to time constrains I couldn’t able to collect sufficient data. As the company is not a public company. It does not publish its operational information to the public. Data are not easily available on internet or in other published papers. They have provided an approximate figure. Most of the data collected are from primary sources since secondary sources of data are not available as mush to serve my purpose.

2.0 Brief description about Dhanam Auto Agencies 2.1 Mission of the Company Each of Dhanam Auto Agencies’ benefits and add value to the wealth of the company’s relationship with the clients. Their mission is to supply the best quality auto parts, to deliver on time as described with 100% satisfaction. The company never fails to use the best business practices in a professional manner. The company operates a clean and safe workplace that protects the environment.

2.2 Background of the company 2.2.1 Location Dhanam Auto Agencies is located 15 kms from Thiruchirapalli Bus Stand and 18 kms from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, having residing at no.2/160, Punganur Main Road, Dindugal Road, K.Kallikudy, Trichy – 620009. It is place where there are many industries, warehouses are located at.

2.3 Nature of the company and Clients Dhanam Auto Agencies’ is a dealer and distributers in the field of Automobile spare parts and an authorized dealer in Force Tempo Traveler’s parts. They distribute goods all over Tamilnadu and to neighboring states like Kerala, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh and even to Andaman.

2.4 Vendors’ information: Specified Automobile parts they deal with, The company deals with three kinds of vehicles’ spares, Lite vehicle (two wheelers) AVD Agricultural Vehicle FORCE Tempo Travelers’ assemble parts.

The company handles the major 18 products of FORCE motors’ Tempo Traveler model. They include Alloy Nippon breaks, Discs for breaks and components, break parts, ADI drive shorts, oil bearing components. The company gets these products from three other auto parts producing companies Force Motors from Pune, Hindustan Motors from Kolkata and General Motors from Gujarat.

3.0 Work Environment 3.1 Employees and work environment: The company has around 250 workers, working in the only shift. The working shift is from 9:30 to 6:30. The major portion of the work contains Stock maintenance and Checking. The company does the following work in terms of checking and dispensing products. The order is taken from the customers, which are made as executive orders then as sales orders. Now products that are ordered for are taken from the storage where material off taking is done. The off took materials are sent to invoice section then to packaging section. Final inspection is done and again invoice is done. Finally the product is dispensed.

3.2 Nature of work done when a product is received When a stock is received when imported, the following works are done. Receiving stock then checking process is done. The checking process contains checking of any damages in the box and the invoice printed by the importer. Only when this process is done the stock is moved to further processing. Now the material invert knot is removed, moved to invoice section then inspection is carried out. When every process is done the stock is moved to the stocks.

3.3 Taxation over the stocks: When an import is carried the company pays taxes on the basis of VAT, Form C and CST taxes. They are charged 4% for VAT and 5% for Form C and 4% for CST.

4.0 SWOT Analysis of Dhanam Auto Agencies

SWOT analysis (alternately SLOT analysis) is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the Strength, Weakness/Limitations, Opportunities and Threats involved in a project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieve the objective. Setting the objective should be dine after the SWOT analysis has been planned. This would allow achievable goals or objectives to be set for organization. Strengths: characteristics of the business, or project team that give it an advantage over others Weakness (or Limitations): are characteristics that place the team at a disadvantage relative to others Opportunities: external chances to improve performance (e.g. make great profits) in the environment Threats: external elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or project Identification of SWOTs, is essential because subsequent steps in the process of planning for achievement of the selected objective may be derived from the SWOTs. First, the decision makers have to determine whether the objective is attainable, given the SWOTs. If the objective is NOT attainable a different objective must be selected and the process repeated. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats, and is an important tool often used to highlight where a business or organization is, and where it could be in the future. It looks at internal factors, the strengths and weaknesses of a business, and external factors, the opportunities and threats facing the business. The process can give us an overview of where the business, and the environment it operates in, is strategically. The following SWOT analysis looks at Dhanam Auto Agencies which operates in dealing with automobile spare parts company. The analysis shows Dhanam Auto

Agencies’ Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats. This will give you the clear picture of the business environment of Dhanam Auto Agencies. 4.1 Strengths of Dhanam Auto Agencies: The Strengths of a business or organization are positive elements, something they do well and are under their control. The strengths of a company or group and value to it, and can be what gives it the edge in some area over the competitors. The following will outline main strengths of Dhanam Auto Agencies, focusing on automobile industry. 

Evolving industry : Automobiles represent freedom and economic growth. Automobiles allow people to live, work and travel in ways that were not imaginable a century ago. Automobiles provides access to markets, to doctors, to jobs. Nearly every automobile trip ends with either an economic transaction or some other benefit to the quality of life. This gives ways in increase use of automobiles which leads to the profitable growth of the company.



Continuous product innovation & technological advancement : With the advent of E-vehicles & alternative fuel such as Shell gas, CNG and others, Automobile Companies are increasing R & D expenditure to drive the next phase of growth through use of renewable sources of energy which may be solar, wind etc, where this’ll help the company to hold a future venture in the upcoming vehicles.



Increasing demand of VFM vehicles : Intense competition in the matured/developed markets has forced automobile manufacturers to target developing economies. But these developing economies have high demand for VFM products (value for money). In the automobile industry, VFM products would be fuel efficient, high mileage vehicles because majority of customers in these nations prefer vehicles for commuting. Since the company holds dealership with the VFM vehicles spares producing companies, there is always good outflow of stocks.



Executive customer base: The company has an executive customer base, which is a major strength of any company regarding sales and profit.

4.2 Weakness of Dhanam Auto Agencies: Weakness of a company or organization are things that need to be improved and preformed well, which are under the control of the company. Weakness are also things that place you behind competitors, or stop you being able to meet objectives. The followings outlines the weaknesses of Dhanam Auto Agencies. 

Cars recalled : Controversies relating to recalling vehicles on account of some technical dis-functionality or non-abidance to govt. led rules is becoming very common. This eventually affects companies like Dhanam Auto Agencies.



Bargaining power of consumers : Over the last 3-4 decades the automobile market has shifted from demand to supply market. Availability of large number of variants, Stiff competition between them, and long list of alternatives to choose from has given power to customers to choose whatever they like. This weakens the company not to get a hike in their selling.



Growth rate of Automobile spares agencies in the state is becoming high these day, and this weakens the company’s economy.

4.3 Opportunities of Dhanam Auto Agencies: Opportunities are external changes or trends that could enhance the business strategic position of a company or which could be a benefit of them. The following discusses about the opportunities of Dhanam Auto Agencies. 

Introducing fuel-efficient vehicles: Optimization of fuel-driven combustion engines and cost efficiency programs are good opportunities for companies that



deals with spare parts of vehicles. Changing lifestyles & customer groups: Since younger’s are more attracted towards sport edition vehicles, which they own them. The company would show their interest in taking dealership in that kind of vehicles.

4.4 Threats of Dhanam Auto Agencies: Threats are factors which may restrict damage or pull areas of the business or organization at risk. They are factors which are outside of the company’s control. Being

aware of the threats and being able to prepare for them makes the followings valuable when considering contingency plans and strategies. 

Changes in the way of customers buying behavior causes threats to the company. Say for instance if the client won’t go for a high end products, then



ends up in threats to the company. Volatility in the price of the vehicle causes threat to the company.

5.0 Knowledge acquired

This internship program helped me in learning the activities carried out in the company. Since the company’s nature is a distributer in Automobile spare parts, their work is to buy, stock and sell the products when an order is placed. I was put to work in the Fulfillment Section where in, the ordered stocks are checked in stocks then invoiced, inspected, packed and dispatched. The process carried in the fulfillment section shows how much the company has concern towards the quality checking and packaging of stocks. Their packing of stock is done through Carton strapping machine. I’ve been given a chance work with the machine.

5.0.1 The practical work: My work in the company consist the followings, Every morning around 11 o’clock the stock, the company ordered for arrives. Receiving the stocks, the work starts. The whole process consists of five stages. At first the invoice on the box is checked and also the damages on the box. Now the stock is placed on a light duty dolly and moved to open the packages. Experienced workers are only allowed to handle the removing packages process. Now the stock is then given a unique barcode and placed on the dollies and the stock from the dollies is placed at random throughout a six-floored set of shelves, in order not get confused with other alike products. The next stage is to remove stock from the shelves and move to dispatch. These ordered lists are placed in the quickest order possible by product location, so each product picker spends least time in walking and more time getting products. The picked stock is scanned and invoice is made. The final stage of packaging and dispatched from the company.

6.0 Conclusion

From the report we could know things about the company. The SWOT analysis shows Dhanam Auto Agencies Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats. The SWOT analysis shows the clear picture of the company’s business environment at the present time. The internship program was excellent and I felt like an employee of the company itself, learnt lot new thing. The program gave me the practical exposure of what learnt in theoretical. At last I am expressing my humble gratitude to all helped for learning properly during the internship.
