Final size of the rattle with the recommended materials and tools ~13 cm. Use any materials and tools you like, but the final size of your toy may differ.

Recommended materials and tools: Gazzal Organic baby cotton (light blue) #417 50g/115m (You can also use YarnArt Jeans) Gazzal Organic baby cotton (white) #415 50g/115m Gazzal Organic baby cotton (milky) #436 50g/115m Alize Bella cotton yarn (white) #55 50g/180m 2 mm crochet hook (as for me I use 1.75 mm crochet hook) 6 cm / 2.36 in diameter wooden teething ring 7 mm / 0.28 in safety eyes on secure fastening Fiberfill for stuffing Rattle insert (optional) Sewing needle, pins and scissors 2
Abbreviations:
st = stitch ch = chain sc = single crochet inc = increase (2 single crochets in one stitch) dec = invisible decrease (2 stitches together working on front loops only) (…) = repeat between () number of times indicated […] = total number of stitches in the round or row blo = back loop only Crochet in continuous rounds. Head: Working in rounds. Using 2 mm crochet hook and Gazzal Organic baby cotton (light blue) #417. 1. Sc 7 in magic ring [7] 2. (inc) repeat 7 times [14] 3. (sc 1, inc) * 7 times [21] 4. (sc 2, inc) * 7 times [28] 5. (sc 3, inc) * 7 times [35] 6. (sc 4, inc) * 7 times [42] 7. (sc 5, inc) * 7 times [49] 8. (sc 6, inc) * 7 times [56] 9-18. sc 56 [56] – 10 rounds 19. (sc 7, dec) * 6 times, sc 2 [50] Install safety eyes between round 16 and 17, with the distance 15 sc between them. (Count 20 stitches from the beginning of crocheting and in 21st make hole with a scissors for safety eyes skip 15 st and make another hole.)

22. (sc 2, dec) *10 times [30] Stuff half of the head and insert the rattle box as shown on the pictures. 23. (sc 1, dec) * 10 times [20] 24. (dec) * 10 times [10] Stuff the head completely with filler. The shape of the head should be round and well filled.

Body: Working in rows. Using 2 mm crochet hook and Gazzal Organic baby cotton (milky) #436 50g/115m Start with foundation chain. Note that you may need to increase or decrease the number of rows to match your wooden ring. It should `hug` wooden ring completely. 1. ch 23 [23] 2. Start in second chain from the hook: sc 22, ch 1 and turn [22] 3-11. sc 22, ch 1 and turn [22] - 9 rows 12. sc 22 and fasten off. Leave long thread for sewing.

Now you need to connect 2 parts of the tail. With the Second part on the hook crochet sc 10 on the First part of the tail. Then sc 10 on the Second part. Now you have sc 20 in the round. Water stream: Working in rounds. Using 2 mm crochet hook and Alize Bella cotton yarn (white) #55 At the very beginning. Before making MAGIC RING, leave a thread about 20 cm long. With its help we will sew the water stream to the head! 1. Sc 8 in magic ring [8] 2-4. sc 18 – 3 rounds [8] 5. (sc 2, dec) *2 times [6] 6. (4 sc in one stitch) * 6 times [24] 7. (2 sc in one stitch) * 24 times [48]

Assemble the toy: 1. Sew the body part around the wooden ring.

Design by @inna_chi_hm 2. Attach the head to the middle of the body. Make sure the eyes are looking straight ahead. Use the thread we left at the end of crocheting the head sew it firmly as you can, so it doesn’t move when shaking. Please, refer to the pictures!

Design by @inna_chi_hm 3. Sew the tail between row 14 and 22. Use the sewing pins to place and fixate the tail.

4. Attach the fins to the head at the row 19, the distance from eyes is 4-5 sc.

6. Take white yarn and embroider the highlights near the eyes. Please, refer to the pictures!
