strength of her influence upon all mundane matters increases.” This, I believe, has a fuller and richer psychological implication for the person who possesses the Uranian (Evening Star) Venus versus the Pandemos (Morning Star) Venus.

Morning Star Venus As a Pandemos Venus you inhabit the earth, you are connected to the physical world and the physical sensations of the body, and you are more likely to feel internally complete. As Pandemos Venus you are likely to have faith in yourself and what you see in the world of nature. You know how things operate in the physical world, understand the laws of science, and accept the mechanical nature of things. You are aware that the needs of the material world (developing skills and resources) are what drive you to become marketable and sustaining. As a Pandemos Venus you desire partnership, but because you are complete within yourself, you do not require a partner to validate your ideas, instincts, and actions. The partnerships for you, as a Pandemos Venus, are driven by desires for companionship, exchange, and for reasons even more basic to the instinctual desires of Pandemos: sexual union, fertility, and reproduction of the species. There is a tendency for you as the Pandemos Morning Star Venus to see your partnerships realistically rather than idealistically.

Evening Star Venus As the Evening Star, Urania Venus is located on the far side of the Earth, in the heavenly abode at a great distance from the physical world. L kewise, as a Urania Venus, you may reside outside the boundaries of your physical body. As Urania Venus is connected to the sky and to the idea of the deity being placed in the cosmic panorama of stars, this is where your attention is focused. As an Evening Star Venus, you move through life as if floating or taking flight; you possess a rich imagination; you are poetry in motion; you are alluring and have a very well formulated “other-worldly” perspective on life. The obstacle with being born under this phase of Venus is that you need to be reminded that you do possess a body; you are in human form; you are connected to the earth; and you do have to learn to navigate accordingly. While it may be more common for you to look externally for approval and validation, you connect to partners very easily. These partners come in a variety of different guises: a guru or teacher (or God or the Holy Spirit or the Great Mother Goddess, etc.), or a series of life partners who may seem to offer the completeness you are searching for in life. You also view these partnerships— and life itself—more idealistically than your counterpart Venus Pandemos who encounters both domains more realistically. Neither of these personalities—Pandemos or Urania—is good or bad; these traits simply act in accordance with the placement of the VSP prior to your birth. The Morning Star Venus is the product of the astronomically termed, inferior conjunction of Sun and Venus, when Venus is considered perigee or closest to Earth. In contrast, the Evening Star is designated as the superior conjunction of Sun and Venus when Venus is at apogee or its furthest point from the Earth—out there in the heavenly realm—in a world far removed from the physical. There is a different rhythm operating in each of these Venuses as well. The Morning Star Venus shoots rapidly to maximum elongation in about eighty days and then descends very slowly while her twin, the Evening Star, gradually ascends to maximum elongation and after about eighty days, rapidly descends. Pandemos Venus, the Morning Star, has been thought of as an initiator, while Urania Venus, the Evening Star, has been considered a receiver. Consequently, it is not surprising that Venus rules two signs in astrology—Pandemos rules Taurus (the earthy one) and Urania rules L bra (the airy one). Both are exalted in Pisces where Venus merges with the oceanic realm from whence she originated. In this context, we could say Venus as the Evening Star better fits the nature of Libra in the western part of the zodiacal wheel, reflecting her true western direction as setting after the Sun. Hence, Venus as the Morning Star better fits the nature of Taurus, a sign located in the eastern part of the zodiacal wheel, reflecting her position in the eastern sky as rising before the Sun. And so, when considering how the VSP operates in your life, there are several factors to consider. Is she a Morning Star (Pandemos) or an Evening Star (Urania)? What sign does she occupy? And, if you are familiar with your astrological chart, in what house does she reside? What planet rules the VSP (i.e. Mars rules Aries; Moon rules Cancer) and how does that planet, as the will of your personal VSP, support and sustain you? Taken in chronological order, a description of the twelve VSP signs follows.

Element: Earth Modality: Fixed Greatest Assets: Down-to-earth, no-nonsense practicality; accuracy; the ability to hit the bull’s-eye; an instinctive sensual nature that possesses the power of attraction; the ability to remain centered and grounded and to persevere in times of crisis; the desire to create peace and prosperity Greatest Liabilities: The biggest obstacle to your heart center can be your tendency to devalue something or someone because their value system is not the same as your own. Your self-worth (or another’s) does not reside in bankable assets, but more in the depths of one’s character and soul. Venus’s Gift to Taurus: A loving and heart-centered approach to life is natural for you as a Taurus VSP individual since Taurus is considered the home base of Venus, a sign in which Venus’s nature is expressed to the fullest. THE VSP IN TAURUS: THE PERSONAL REALM Each VSP has its own special gift and it’s under the sign of your VSP that the best of yourself is expressed. But the VSP, like everything in nature, also has a shadow side which manifests when these characteristics are either suppressed or extremely over-stated. The Taurus VSPs express themselves through the element of earth and are governed by Venus herself. The position of your Venus, along with your Taurus VSP, will combine to reveal a great deal about your natural gifts and how to fulfill the best of your VSP potential. Venus appears as either Morning Star, Pandemos, or Evening Star, Urania. Though you might be one or the other (MS) or (ES), Taurus by its nature, is more energetically associated with Pandemos (MS). This Venus represents the one who holds court in the earthly realm; i.e., the priestess, the queen, or the mother. Her counterpart is the celestial Urania, whose gaze may be focused in a more heavenly direction. Your VSP in Taurus will automatically carry Pandemos energy in great measure. You take your earthly responsibilities very seriously and are seemingly graced and acknowledged by the fruits of the earth accordingly. While all Taurus VSPs will relate to Pandemos inherently, if you are a Taurus Eveing Star VSP, you will also possess a healthy dose of Urania’s energy. The Morning Star Taurus VSP is queen of her earthly realm. The Evening Star Taurus VSP is similarly a queen, but may often look beyond the earthly realm to the sky for her heavenly guidance and direction. A good example of the former is Vivien Leigh, who portrayed the character Scarlett O’Hara to perfection. Ella Fitzgerald, whose voice and musical style seemed derived from a celestial realm, typifies the latter Evening Star VSP. The bull—more specifically the horns of the bull—are the corresponding image for the constellation of Taurus. These horns bore great mythological fruit and contain such illustrious and diverse stars as the Hyades, the Pleiades, Aldebaran and Algol. The Taurus VSP reflects these mythological counterparts with varied characteristics. Although the bull is an animal many people regard as aggressive and, when incited, hostile, Taurus is an earth yin (feminine) sign characterized by steadfast determination. Like its animal spirit, it is grounded, needs open space, enjoys a good meal, is very fertile, and loves to mate. Venus adds charm and social graces, making you, Taurus VSP, both determined and stubborn about achieving your aim, no matter what obstacles appear in your path! However, the preferred method for Taurus, and one which many of you have mastered, is the art of attracting the object of your desire to you, especially in matters of love, and thus manifesting the dream of the Goddess Venus. The wisdom inherent in your Taurus VSP is your connection to mother earth and can include your ancestry. Aries, the first of the astrological signs of the zodiac, signifies the seed germinating in the ground, Taurus, the next sign, implies the establishment of roots. Incidentally, the author of Roots: The Saga of an American Family, Alex Haley, is a Taurus VSP who, with the determination its Taurus VSP natives possess, undertook the monumental task of tracing his African-American roots back to their source in West Africa. The novel and subsequent TV mini-series won multiple awards and garnered some of the highest ratings in the history of TV. Further, you Taurus VSP individuals possess a talent for creating beauty in physical form or making beautiful things more accessible to everyone. For example, I. M. Pei is one of the most renowned and masterful twentieth-century architects. He was born on April 26, 1917, on the day of a Venus Evening Star conjunction with the Sun, making him a pure Taurus VSP archetype. Taurus, the sign so gifted at acquisition, is appropriately embodied by Taurus VSP billionaires Howard Hughes and Aristotle Onassis. This is not to imply they didn’t work hard for what they achieved. Rather, you Taurus VSPs must watch for the shadow side to overtake you for acquiring beautiful things and people may be easy and habitual—but hoarding and possessing them too tightly may lead to a slippery slope. Another major characteristic common of Taurus VSP individuals is your stubborn resistance or digging in your heels! Despite the fact that such inflex bility can test people’s patience, in some cases, it can be your Taurus VSP’s most effective tool for success. For example, Taurus Evening Star Mahatma Gandhi’s refusal to budge on his principles during India’s resistance to British rule ultimately resulted in India’s independence. This trait appears common amongst film stars as well. Fictional character Scarlett O’Hara, brought to life by actress Vivien Leigh (a Taurus VSP Morning Star) in Gone With the Wind, also shows the power of stubborn resistance. When in the face of numerous obstacles such as the Civil War, unrequited love and the loss of everyone she loved—Scarlett held fast to Tara—her roots. One can also observe the quality of unflinching tenacity in two pure Taurus VSP archetypes, actors Henry Fonda and Gary Cooper, and in the characters they portrayed. Furthermore, Geronimo, a Taurus archetype born very near the VSP transition date, held the line for his Apache people as long as humanly possible to preserve their way of life and prevent annihilation. Another characteristic you possess as a Taurus VSP individual is the ability to calmly remain grounded and hold a steady beat, even when the world around you is in panic. Taurus VSP politicians who were able to impart some semblance of peace and comfort to their people in trying times include Franklin Roosevelt, John and Robert Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, and Gerald Ford. As a Taurus VSP you will tend to surround yourself with lavish possessions, comfort, and beauty. As a Taurus VSP, you are fed by the Libra VSP which emphasizes partnership, whether for business, pleasure, or creative collaboration, and gives you the strength and endurance you possess. You honor the institution and ideal of marriage and are persistent about remaining in a marriage—even when it forces you and your partner to hammer out a compromise with one another—thus you take the oath ’till death do us part deeply to heart. However, the VSP, like everything in nature, also has a shadow side. Sagittarius VSP is expressed through the element of fire and ruled by the planet Jupiter. The position of your natal Jupiter, along with your Sagittarius VSP, will combine to reveal a great deal about your natural gifts and how to fulfill the best of your VSP potential. The element of fire associated with the sign of Sagittarius accurately portrays the spirit of a Sagittarian VSP. Like fire, you are a bold, dazzling, bright, hot breed of individuals who aspire to great heights in your chosen pursuit, whether it be politics, sports, cultural achievements, travel, philosophical breakthroughs, social reform, or education. If your Venus Star connects to too many people to whom you are feeding (on the Karmic Star) and helping to inspire (on the Creative Star) with little or no reciprocation, you will very quickly feel depleted. If, on the other hand, you are helped and fed by the other people’s Venus Stars without being able to feed or give to them, while you are well supported, you are also “hungry” for someone in your life whom you can feed. This is particularly evident when the one star mate you were feeding is the child that has left home or the spouse that has passed on.
