2. Possibilities and Scope of Automation ( For STAND ALONE UNIT ) 1. Semi – Auto : Press a button to initiate regeneration / backwash. Unit goes into regeneration and back to service on its own. 2. Fully Auto : Automatic regeneration takes place based on external signals ; A..Pump ON time: Selecting this feature allows one to program the number of hours & minutes that the raw water pump keeps water flowing through the unit before regeneration starts. It is settable up to 99 Hrs & 59 Mins. with a least count of 1 min. for the auto wash processor to know that the pump is “ON” the auxiliary output of pump starter is to be connected to the auto MPV. This will also ensure that even the regeneration timing count down will happen ONLY when the pump is ON. B. Flow sensor : The Auto valve counts down the programmed output based on signal from flow sensor. When it reaches zero, the unit goes into regeneration automatically. C. Real Time clock (optional) : Regeneration starts at the programmed time and day of the week and unit goes back into service on its own once the regeneration is over. D. External Input Signal from PLC or Previous Auto MPV. Brine Tank Automation : A brine level switch can be inserted in the brine tank which switches between brine and water. 1. When regeneration is initiated by any means , the Auto MPV first checks whether the Brine switch indicates presence of brine. If not it gives an alarm indicator. 2. When regeneration step is over , if the brine switch still detects brine it gives an alarm ‘Regeneration incomplete’. ‘REGENERATION FAIL’ Spare Relay (Standard) : A spare relay output is available which can be programmed to start any time after start of cycle and for any duration up to 99 min. It’s possible uses are as follows; 1. Remote (Panel) indication of regeneration in progress. 2. Operation of ‘ fast rinse ’ solenoid valve for down flow softeners. 3. Operation of ‘ raw water bypass ‘ solenoid valve during regeneration. 4. Operation of ‘ regeneration suction ‘ solenoid valve in Auto D.M. plant. 5. To bypass high pressure cut off of Hydro-pneumatic system during regeneration. Second Spare Relay ( Optional) : This relay can be used to operate a remote (panel) annunciator whenever any fault condition occurs. Conditions under which annunciator (buzzer) will activate ; 1. If unit does not go from one step to another within specified time limit (200 sec.) 2. When brine switch is provided and if brine is not ready at the start of regeneration. 3. If brine still remains in brine tank at end of regeneration. 4. Internal malfunction. (Reed switch short) 3. Installation Guidelines and Piping diagram Solomatic is Advance microprocessor Based Mini Computer. Install the Solomatic in Shade / inside a covered room.Keep it away from sunlight ( the way you keep your Computer / TV / Washing M/c ).Keep it away from dust & water.Kindly go through the various installations recommended below & ensure that you have installed each & every required component for trouble free operation of the plant. TWT Piping Precautions. 1) Ensure that Inlet / Outlet pipe is well supported & it does not transfer any load on the MPV. 2 2) Ensure that shut off head of Raw Water Pump is below 5 Kg / Cm Piping Diagram
1) Standard: When Raw Water Tank is on ground level Install Vacuum Breaker at the Inlet of Softener to Prevent Brine Solution from Entering the Raw Water Tank

5. Programming Instructions 5a. Glossary of terms :
MOT ON DELAY:XXX
Motor ON delay time :-
When AutoMPV changes its position from Service to Regeneration or Regeneration to Rinse and so on it will send signal to Raw water pump / Solenoid valve to stop. Once the pump or solenoid valve stops , the pressure in the system reduces. However it takes some time for system pressure to become zero. The time in which system pressure goes to zero after Raw water pump / Solenoid valve is stopped, can be programmed as Motor ON delay time.Normally even in same system the time required by system to attain zero pressure also varies . e.g. Position change
Normally time required for system pressure to become zero
From Service to regeneration
Less time required.
From Rinse to Service
Less time required.
From Regeneration to rinse
More time required.
Always program maximum time required for system pressure to become zero as Motor ON delay time. CYCE COUNT:XXX Cycle count :Displays number of time the unit had finished regeneration.
REGN TIME: XX
Regeneration Time:The required duration of regeneration in XX mins.
RINSE TIME: XX
Rinse Time:The required duration of rinse in XX mins.
RST CYC. CNT?
Reset cycle counter:Select YES or NO if you wish to reset cycle counter
RINSE TIME: XX
Default Settings:Select YES or NO if you wish to continue with default settings External Pulse:-
EXT PULS: XX SENSOR:
Sensors :None - No Sensor is selected & Auto MPV will go in Regeneration mode once the REGN key is pressed or When External Signal Auto MPV / PLC or Cond. Meter/ Batcher / pH meter / External Timer etc. is used to give potential free pulse input to Auto MPV to go in Mode. Pump Time - When Astero Panel is used to give signal to Auto MPV to go into regeneration mode. Pump Tim is to be used when regenerate the Softener / Backwash the Filter after X hrs of pump operation. This is fairly accurate & economical alternative to flow batcher.
like Another regeneration you want to sensor / flow
Flow Sensor – If this feature is active then sensor can send Auto MPV in continuous loop. Startup Rinse :ST RINSE MAN (Manual) - Unit goes into Rinse mode when RESET key is pressed. AUTO (Automatic) - Unit goes into Rinse mode automatically whenever unit restarts / switched ON. BRINE Brine I/L (Interlock) :It is to be selected as ON whenever Brine switch is used and as OFF when Brine switch is not used. A brine level switch can be inserted in the brine tank and it switches between brine and water. 1.When regeneration is initiated by any means , the Auto MPV first checks whether the Brine switch indicates presence of brine. If not it gives an alarm indicator. 2. When regeneration step is over , if the brine switch still detects brine it gives an alarm “Regeneration incomplete’. Also refer Installation Drawing for brine switch.
EXT IP CNT
External I/P count :It indicates no. of External input signals after which unit would go into regeneration mode. This is useful when more than one units are operating
in series or parallel. E.g. If External I/P count is set as 3 , then unit will go into regeneration only after receiving the signal 3 times. PUMP IL Pump Interlock :When Pump Interlock is kept ON , if pump stops during regeneration cycle for any reason , the Solomatic will STOP countdown of the regeneration time. When pump restarts , the Solomatic will restart the countdown from position / time where pump was stopped. When Pump Interlock is kept
OFF & if pump stops during regeneration cycle for any reason the unit ADVISABLE for healthy running of Softener.
